You don't focus on the right things Grace. I never heard of Kyle Chandler. But he's an Emmy award winning actor. So, the guy is very talented. But all you want to talk about is that he's not as famous as Josh Brolin or someone else. I never heard of Cristin Milioti before The Penguin came out. But after seeing episode one and seeing how awesome a job she's doing playing Sofia Falcone, I and the world knows her now. Focus on acting talent Grace, not how famous a person.

Good choice for Krem. Not every villain has to be played by a big name. Remember Phase 1 Marvel anyone? Tom Hiddleston was basically unknown. But it's Gunn's DCU so she's always going to skew things as negatively as possible.

Matthias Schoenaerts IS AN AMAZING ACTOR GRACE!!!! You only showed his “Hollywood” projects but he is largely known and very well regarded in Europe!! He starred in a movie with Marion Cotillard called “Rust and Bone” (2012) that is a masterpiece! Have some hope! I think you are too quick to judge sometimes, you need to do some research of actors that aren’t American or you aren’t familiarised with their previous work, sometimes is frustrating when some of us know what that specific actor is capable of doing despite Hollywood misfires (that in many cases it means the occasional opportunity for an European/latin American/ Asian actor

Correct. The star system is dead and we have plenty of evidence right now. Chris Hemsworth brought nothing to Furiosa or Transformers, Tom Holland is only successful when he plays Spiderman, but any actor would be successful in that role, etc.

@@Knightfall182 he became famous worldwide after Iron Man 1. Besides, Marvel didn't plan an accurate and detailed universe from scratch. Iron Man and Hulk were bets. RDJ was far from being a safe bet too. It played out amazingly but surely no formula with secret sauce was discovered.

As for the Wuthering Heights, someone described as “dark skinned” in 1802 northern England is very different than someone described that way today. However, he is supposed to be darker (read more as tan) and Romani but not African or deep skin toned. So Elordi still doesn’t make sense.

I think it's yet another case of Hollywood taking a story from another country and viewing it through the lens of American racial politics. Brontë wasn't thinking of an African American when she wrote Heathcliff. He's actually described as looking like a gypsy. If he had African heritage, it would have been referred to constantly in a North Yorkshire setting as for practically everyone living on the Moors, it would have been a unique occurrence. I doubt many Americans appreciate how white the demographic of these places were even up until the last few decades, nevermind over 200 years ago. Ridiculous.

I feel like everyone forgets Chris Evans, Chris, Hemsworth, and even Robert Downey Jr. were not big names in Hollywood at the time. RDJ sure was well known but Iron Man was his big break to redeem his career. Now they are these huge stars why can’t we do the same for DC, start small get it right until it becomes big again (hopefully) and we can have bigger names later on. Now to be fair movie experience is not the same as it was 15 years ago so i understand the need to have bigger names now for these projects to do well (besides a good story)

I personally think the colourism argument isn’t as big of a deal for a character like John Stewart who just so happens to be dark skinned. It matters way more with people like Storm, Black Panther, etc. where their tone is an integral part of their character.

Hal becoming Parallax could still pack an emotional punch depending on the length and number of episodes. If they have 10, 1 hour episodes that's way longer than a trilogy of films, so they could get the audience to bond with the character. So it could work.

What's with all the shade at Kyle Chandler? He's a great actor! Won a much deserved lead actor Emmy for Friday Night Lights and has had a nice career as a character actor in film too (King Kong, Super 8, Zero Dark Thirty, Wolf of Wall Street and more). I think people need to keep in mind that Green Lantern is not the kind of role that is going to attract A list talent. It's a super nerdy, super niche role. Only hardcore comic fans care about this character.

feel better Grace and thank you for the effort on the streaming of today. I'm big fan of supergirl and I believe the character has great potential but now I'm a little worried about the film :( In my point of view, my idea of plot for the movie would be focus on Kara, being the last daugther of Krypton. Plot: In a world without a future, in a family where she was supposed to be the last one. A ray of hope touches Kara’s life when Kal-El, her cousin, is born. Life as itself is a miracle, Kara vows to protect. That’s why she embarks on a series of adventures that will force her to face her fears, many dangers and more so, she would not be the Last one of her kind. A bond like siblings would be a good start and a way to care for both heroes in the future.

What's interesting about the theory of a supposedly "red-shit" Hal Jordan is that the Green Lantern IP has two very big story sagas involving death and resurrection (GL: Rebirth and Blackest Night), so if the show survives (heh) more than one season they could use that to bring Hal back. 💚

I respect the heck out of James Cameron. I know he's one mean dude when he's directing, but it gets results. I suspect he's a sociopath and doesn't realize/care about others feelings. As for AI and companies/studios wanting to speed processes up or bypass human jobs, I can't stand the idea. It makes me sick. SLOW THIS WORLD DOWN!!! It's not worth getting more mediocre products out there. Considering how Cameron always has a message in his movies about the environment or war/value of life, he should be mindful of the impact AI will have on all of us. Cameron supposedly used AI to apply digital noise reduction to the latest releases of his own movies in 4K and it was met with mixed results and really ticked off fans. And his response was mean then too! When someone asked him about all that and he insulted his fans!! I still respect him though, because he still knows how to deliver big, event-level blockbusters.

For Lanterns, you might also need to think about who from that shortlist is in real need of work, hasn't got any project down the line and will have trouble finding work if the pass on this show. Everyone on that shortlist including Brolin doesn't really fit that criteria.

I absolutely loved The Regime, and it makes me sad that it wasn't more successful. I'm not a huge fan of TV shows unless they are animated, but I decided to give The Regime a chance on a whim because the show's premise seemed extraordinarily unique and interesting. To my surprise, I binge-watched the entire series in one night. The show uses parody to cleverly expose how authoritarian regimes are often nothing more than smoke and mirrors and how shockingly tenuous and weak their grasp on power is if you look behind the curtain. They are often only being propped up by little more than charisma and propaganda. The show is intelligently written and extremely well-acted, and the dark humor is surprisingly funny and nuanced. If you start watching the show thinking it's a serious drama, you'll probably be disappointed and miss the point. But if you appreciate dark humor and understand that it's a parody of the ridiculousness of real-life authoritarian leaders, then you'll likely enjoy the show. I think it went over most people's heads, which seems to happen with this kind of content for whatever reason. Either way, I'm just happy to have enjoyed it.

I always get annoyed when people say that there haven't been many interesting stories. Despite the fact that the characters has existed for like 70 years LO, L, there are plenty of stories. For instance, maybe it's because I'm european but with voice-overs in animation movies I never connect the voice with a star I always focus on the character, they always have to tell me that some A list actor did the voice-over otherwise I wouldn't have known.

If Colin Farrell can play The Penguin so well, any casting bets are on the table. A listers are smart not to jump on DC projects untill after Superman drops.

I personally think if they ‘kill’ Hal by the end so they can adapt Green Lantern Rebirth, then recast younger and go into more of the Geoff Johns Green Lantern stuff because it legitimately is the best Green Lantern run.

Hot take: Kyle Chandler will do much better than Brolin or Olyphant with the subtle True Detective take I think they're going for. He was great in Peter Jackson's King Kong, Super 8, Bloodlines, Godzilla King of Monsters etc. He just needs inspiring material 🤔 I'm biased though because I'd prefer the understated performance of a Kyle Chandler over the broader Jon Hamm. Just give him a great co-lead with gravitas like a Jharrell Jerome type and Jeremy Strong as Sinestro and we're cooking. Plus, this being on HBO/Max, hopefully this is more Penguin than CW.
