The Ogryns probably have the most wholesome lore in 40k. They're humans that adapted over thousands of years on high gravity planets so they're huge, strong dumb brutes, they're basically have a child's mind so they're very easy to convince to do things without question as long as you use simple language, and they think every order given is directly from the god emperor himself

40k takes a rabbit hole to understand and it will take you down that rabbit hole. I like Bricky’s story of how he got into 40k because his manager at a dq was a big fan of warhammer. So Bricky just said he was interested learning about 40k so his manager told him to stop what he’s doing, takes him to the back room, writes down all the factions on a white board, and says “you’re stuck with me for the next 6 hours” (or something like that). And that 6 hour explanation was probably just a quick run down.

When something doesnt make sense it's warp fuckery and you gotta let it go. Like when lucious the eternal possessed a fucking necron even though they have no souls and are not effected by the warp nor contribute to it. The whole lore feels like your a baby sitter and playing make believe with a emo child who is a little too into death and misery.plus everytime you try kill one of his heroes or favored toys he pulls a random new rule. Making him the victor or able to fight another day. Its why i love it. Simple common sense goes to the way side for dark demented lore. Like when the imperium refuel their ships. Hopefully this helps clearify things.

The mini series ASTARTES is what sent me into the rabbit hole and love for Warhammer 40k, so many stories and content, Flashgitz does amazing work with Warhammer 40k, Emperor gets a Text to Speech device is perfect, Janovich and his dedication to the siege of Vraks, the Podcast Adeptus Ridiculous, Weshammer and his lore videos, Luetin09 and his insanely in depth lore videos, or even Baldemort and his absolutely priceless narration.

All fantastic channels, but, my brother, you’re missing the best one of all… Oculus Imperia. Seriously, that guy IMMERSES you in it, he makes all his videos from the viewpoint of an Imperial Historian giving a lecture, and it’s amazing. He has like, 2 videos on each space marine legion, one for its origins culture and history, and another describing their tactics and dispositions. He’s got videos going into specific things that the legions have had to deal with, like the Iron Hands and the Keys of Hel being one of my favorites, he’s got vids exploring the biology and motivations of Xenos factions, he even almost perfectly acts out someone losing their mind as they confront lore on the Daemonic and the nature of Chaos and the Warp. Videos on the Titan Legios, Imperial Knights, a few guardsman regiments, and pivotal battles in Imperial history. It’s amazing, the sheer amount of dedication he puts into it.

A vox in the void is a highly recommend to check out. He narratores short stories and and fan stories is a god at it. He narrates and voices the characters he also puts sound effects in the stories to drive the quality high up. you get so inmersived into the stories that it feels you're there.

The level of intensity in that part was awesome. And really had me on the egde of my seat! Btw have you checked out his recent stories, a lullybyes smile is a truly haunting story and its fan made. Vox's voice acting is truly great there you can hear the stress and the fear in his voice when he voices a character

I think the best option for a live action 40K series would be the Gaunt's Ghosts books by Dan Abnett a group of stealthy guardsmen trying to survive the 40K universe after the destruction of their home world by Chaos. Led by Commissar Ibrahim Gaunt an absolute badass with the power of life and death over every man in the regiment. The ghosts have a strange love/hate fear/respect relationship with him because he dragged them away from their world as it fell saving their lives but preventing them from dying with their families.

I like how in one of the comics there's a line from one of those medieval worlds where one of the peasants says to a space marine, "I can't imagine a threat that would require a solider like you" It just shows that the vast majority of these people have absolutely no idea whats going on outside of there little world. there's a ton of funny stuff weird boyz know they're in a game. Ork Spaceships have roll-down windows so they can do drive-by shootings. Commissioners can and have to kill soldiers that fall under them if they retreat or are showing weakness, but Commissioners of the Death Korp of Krieg have to actually stop them from wanting to die as their devotion is never wavering so much in fact they are willing to just charge enemies that are 3 - 4 times bigger than them.

the casket war machines are dreadnaughts... and its not a punishment, its an honor. Only the most loyal, brave, and powerful brothers get placed in them. the line is "even in death, i serve" So, you have space marines who have already lived and fought for centuries, get mortally wounded, then placed in literal tanks that double as life support to live and fight for centuries more. The issue with dreadnaughts is that eventually they succumb to dementia. So you basically have this grandpa who barely remembers who or where he is, in a tank stomping around a battlefield.

I read that story he's talking about, where the Space Marine just runs through the entire enemy completely undamaged. I'm not 100% but I think it's in Horus Rising, the first book of the Horus Heresy series (which is 52 books long and still going). One thing I love about 40k is how amazing of a backdrop it is for creating your own stories. Hell, I'm pretty sure the entire reason the 2nd and 11th primarchs don't exist is specifically for your own stories and creativity.

About the sarcophagus-thing: It's very much not a punishment. Becoming a dreadnaught is only reserved for the most distinguished Space Marines who get injured and can no longer fight as themselves; it's considered a great honor.

Machines spirits may be real now, but they weren't 10k years ago. The mechanicus' powerful belief may have indeed created some kind of connection between technology and the warp. Plenty of ships, weapons, and systems that for all intents and purposes should've broken down centuries ago that still continue to chug despite proper maintenance knowledge being lost. Not quite the same as what the Orks do, but the same result.

The funny thing is that, while Imperium worshipping the emperor is the LAST thing he probably would have wanted...............there's been some debate that it was the only thing really keeping the imperium together. Without the 'faith' in the god emperor and the iron fist rule of the Inquisition, the imperium would have descended into chaos and anarchy in the 10,000 years since the Emperor was put on the Golden Throne.

Some great readings here on KZbin of sci-fi stories inspired by 40k lore. I think there’s a subreddit called “Humans are Space Orks” where people post stories. Some really great stories especially if you are a die-hard Terran.

Kyle needs to watch the warhammer app!! Somebody should show the guys Angels of Death and hammer and Bolter. Both incredible series about the lore. The spacecmarine animation is amazing, and would fill in plenty of lore gaps!
