Is DANIEL Ricciardo LEAVING F1?

Is Daniel Ricciardo being replaced by Liam Lawson? There have been lots of rumours that the 2024 Singapore GP will be Daniel Ricciardo's last F1 race with numerous sources leaking information. The media suspects that we will get confirmation of Liam Lawson replacing Daniel Ricciardo early next week. Most in the paddock expected this announcement on media day at the Singapore GP but it wasn't to be, so could it be that these rumours were false? We will find out very soon although I'd be betting this is Daniel Ricciardo's last F1 race. Make sure to watch the entire video to see everything that happened at the 2024 Singapore GP thus far!

The story I heard and that made sense to me is that there's a clause in Liam's contract that if he didn't have a seat by the end of September, he becomes a free agent. If Daniel had been lighting up the timetables, they'd let Liam's contract lapse, but since he's not, the org's interest in retaining Liam trumps any desire to let Daniel finish out the season. Bummer, but that's the business.

Daniel has a contract to end of 2024 season and Christian Horner likes DR to much allow him to be removed from a seat, half way through a season. The question is, is Checo or DR will retiring from F1 at the end of the season?

They keep saying “Daniel should have never left RedBull”, that’s very true, and that team wanted to keep him… but they had that Renault engine in his last few years, the reliability was completely *non-existent.* And they were switching to Honda which had an even slower and less reliable engine with McLaren. Max was also slowly becoming the #1 driver, out qualifying him on most weekends… there were a few reasons for Ricciardo to want to seek out the next team that could win in the future🤷‍♂️

So what was Daniel seen celebrating about a couple of races ago? Is he going to thr main team. Has he signed with Sauber? Is it Nascar (which makes sense) I think the biggest thing is. He's been outperformed now by rookies in similar performing cars. I love DR. But it's clear there is not the hunger there anymore and honestly I think the move to McLaren destroyed him as a driver. He can still be somewhat competitive but he's not the same driver anymore. GL to him in whatever he chooses

Just go and watch the driver press conferences, particularly the one with Max, it was like one step away from an obituary when they were asked about Daniel. Saying that I'm still not convinced he'll get dropped immediately as opposed to the end of the season.

He’s leaving F1. If you weren’t convinced already you just had to watch the press conferences with the drivers. Autosport voted him best driver in the world in 2016. Ruined his F1 career leaving Red Bull in search of a drivers title. One of the reasons was that he wasn’t sure if the Honda engines would pan out. If you knew the basic history of Honda in F1 you knew it they would no matter how brutal the performance was with McLaren. Horner and Red Bull wanted to buy engines but were refused by Ron Dennis.

I hope they give Danny Ric til end of year, given his years of service to Red Bull, It’s probably time for Liam to get a shot for 2025 and Dan to hand over the Baton, but its not like DR is doing a horrible job, the car hasn’t been on the pace and poor strategies at times, I can’t see the benefit of bringing Liam in right now. Eg Haas starting Bearman next year.

I reckon he'll be quite relieved to be out of that car! They use as much as they legally can from the parent company and the engines are the same, so the basics are good, but race strategies are hopeless, upgrades fail to deliver, etc. Seems like the rest of the team isn't up to the standard required for modern F1 competition. I'm surprised Red Bull hasn't been more proactive in shaking the organisation up big-time.

When you got Perez performing very poorly for the majority of his RB stint in a very dominant car that everybody wants, how in the world did RB not fired him already? They were far more brutal to their young and inexperienced drivers for a lot less in the past. People continue to say Ricciardo shouldn’t be in F1 even though he has outpaced Tsunoda since Canada before he received terrible strategies. Meanwhile Perez made far worse performances during the 1.5 seasons before the 2024 summer break and by far the worst runs by a driver in a top team in F1 history, and he’s been rewarded by contract extension instead. Where’s the logic? Shouldn’t Perez be out so other drivers can fight for wins, let alone letting a young driver into the junior team? Even Ricciardo is a massive upgrade by default due to having virtually the same driving the style as Verstappen. The decisions RB made over the course of a season proves why Newey and many of their senior members left the team.
