Burning Man Did you go to Palm Desert? I did for Stoned & Dusted 2019. I went out and saw the Sky Valley sign, went out and saw Salvation Mountain. Festival got cancelled this year but next year I’m gonna try and go see the Nude Bowl (nudist colony pool thing) where Kyuss and yawning man used to play and maybe go find the abandoned buildings at Bombay Beach near the Salton Sea that are on the cover of “And the Circus Leaves Town…”

@@stoneylonesome4062 Dude, yes. I literally made THAT exact trip to the desert. First went to LA, then drove to Palm Springs, went to the Sky Valley sign and signed it, went to the Nude Bowl and skated it, Went to Joshua Tree, then travelled to Slab City and explored that whole area for a day, them ventured over to Bombay Beach. Honestly it was breathtaking. I am totally going to do it again someday. I did that all during my winter holidays

@@joemayo4078 not true at all. Most of what Josh has put out has been trash. That disproves your idiotic musically illiterate theory. When it’s good it has a lot to do with who he surrounds himself with and the chemistry between the musicians. Chemistry is everything in rock bands cause it’s such simple music. Because of that every member is irreplaceable and equally important. It’s the equivalent of saying hot fudge is the most important ingredient of ice cream sundaes everything else is replaceable you can use peanut butter or garlic sauce or cheese instead of ice cream it will always taste good cause of the chocolate sauce. Not true. Every ingredient matters to make a sundae.

This clip is interesting because of the uneven distribution of talent present. First a young Josh Homme with a confidence he's on to something with tuning down and searching for the avant garde. He's the one calling the shots cause he has the loud fucking riffing. Then Scott Reeder, the missing link between Geezer Butler and Cliff Burton. It's no easy task fronting a band. Garcia had his moments but the other guys were out of his league. Kyuss albums on the other hand is a completely different matter. 90's classics.

I'd argue that Kyuss era stuff was Homme struggling in his ability. He's seems to be wandering aimlessly on his instrument at times, and using lots of effect to make up for it.

But also for fox's sake how well Alfredo Hernandez fits in. Imagine being called in to substitute Brant Bjork. With frickin' ear muffs. And he nails it.

Maybe substitute wasn't the best word. The point was that Brant Bjork was a major reason why Kyuss sounded this good and it doesn't sound any worse with Alfredo. Amazing drummers both.
