If these 2 failures are 100% legitimate w/no previous abuse,tuner etc. These are extremely uncommon failures & it would’ve 100% been covered by warranty w/only 30k miles-i own a Lly Duramax with 397k miles & the turbo & injecors have never had any issues to date🤷♂️

We 100% agree and yes they would be covered under warranty . Customer was aware of the repairs needed and was given the chance to take the vehicle into the dealership for a warranty repair. As any should should do, customer was not happy with local dealerships and felt they could not fix the truck in a timely manor . So he approved the “ shown “ services as we provided for you the audience to see. The 17 L5p had TONS of injector failures so this was not uncommon. On the turbocharger failure yes this is a uncommon failure.

I think I would have a drink after that too....My jetta TDI has got me drinking as much as I can ha ha. 2 engines rebuilt cp3 leak after mods. almost done lets hope it runs today. 6 months of constant failures one after another. but today she should be good.

Save money with cheap oil, pay in turbo replacement. Save money on fuel additives without using them, pay more with injectors replacement. Pay me now or pay me later. Be smart use quality oil and do oil analysis.

2019 l5p 47000 miles I got code p24c4 and was looking the truck over good before I took to the dealership and was under the front end and noticed oil dripping from the passenger side charge air cooler tube so I guess I got lucky before it came apart on me. Just put in the shop Friday and haven’t heard anything yet. Yes I know that the code shouldn’t have any bearing on this unless the whole system is oil contaminated. Will update when I get the solution.

Next time before condemning an injector by a simple disable test, try resetting the injector small quantity values. For a few reason ms these trucks are extremely sensitive electrically when it comes to injectors. Something as simple as a bad pigtail will cause an injector timing issue or a misfire and a P020X code.

I'm currently in the market for a new 1500 or 2500 chevy diesel, and i am wondering if you guys have enough experience to either recommend them or should I pass. I am mostly getting it for pulling my camper a 32 foot Jayco that weighs a little under 8000 lbs fully loaded, but it is like pulling a parachute for a tank at speed. I am mostly looking at the 3.0 with tha max tow. I have a affinity for inline six engines and it still maxes towing out at 12,000 lbs total, which is 4000 lbs more than the camper weighs.

Guys just buy fuel from a high volume fuel station! Also add fuel Lubricant additives , and I run a synthetic oil ! I had 3 Duramax trucks and currently own a 2020 with 70,000 miles on it with no problems! The problem is fuel refinery’s deliver fuel 80% of the Time with zero sulfur ! Anything over 15 ppm and the entire batch gets rejected! So it’s easier for them to just ship it with 0-15 ppm ! All manufacturers have fuel problems due to low sulfur content!

It's a journal bearing turbo, it will have some play left to right because it DOESN'T HAVE OIL PRESSURE TO CENTER IT. END PLAY (IN&OUT) SHOULD BE 0 NONE

Only partially correct. The impeller should never be able to hit the housing, oil pressure or not.

i have a 2017 l5p with over 100k miles on it and from the sticker on the dorr it was built in 7/17 would this be an issue with mine or is it not a common issue for the injectors to go out as i still have the emmissions bull crap on it theres no way for me to tell if i do have said problem.... that being said i dont dog it or pull alot of stuff with it.... is there an easy way to check the turbo play without having to take a bunch of stuff off can i do like you did and pull the hot side pipe off and check it that way im not really familiar with the l5p's im more knowledgeable on the ford side of things but i really enjoy my truck thanks for the info i know its an old video but have been watching a few of the vids on the l5p just to get a little more knowledge about them but this was not a good video to watch haha made me think that i made a bad choice on the year model i chose

@@POINTBLANKPERFORMANCE do you remember what all the rates were within? I have a 2018 and my rates vary from 1.2 to -1.3. I'm trying to pinpoint a random missfire. But no luck. The tune techs say it's not their tune but I feel like it's over fueling when I let off the throttle thats when it throws a missfire.

Unrelated to this video but to you have an opinion on the EPC fooler plugs being used in the L5P (2019 to be specific)? Not alot of pros like yourself have done a review on these but most videos I can find aren't pros saying they would recommend them or not. TIA

Yes sir ! So we install a EPC Fooler in every 17-19 truck regardless if it’s a racing application or daily driver . The shifter are cleaner plus the truck is more responsive. We’ve had zero transmission failures or over heating issues when installed . So far we’ve made 600hp on stock trans and no issues. Hopefully this helps !

My .17 L5P puts out a small plume of white smoke every time I start it. I have a full delete. Also when I lay into the skinny pedal there is grey-ish smoke out the tail pipe. Should I be concerned? It does not smoke on normal driving conditions. Transmission ain’t holding much longer either. Lol.

is an injector relearn required after replacement? I just did #2,4,6,8 three days ago with oem New injectors. Have 600 into it... was charged 2000 to have just #7 done stranded on the road. Also I beleive I have a turbo actuator going bad. It sweeps only when it wants to. If you reset the light after it sweeps the vanes truck runs great otherwise reduced power and service emissions message comes up. Any thoughts?

@@AndrewF-m9k I just replaced all my injectors my self. I had to take it to the dealer to program the injectors to computer. Don't be surprised if you have to replace your DPF filter if you have been running with bad injectors for a while like me. After replacing my injectors including the 9th or indirect injector under the cab. My truck ran great for like 10 minutes and went back into reduced power and would not regen. Kept telling me to continue driving truck is in regen. Turns out running bad injectors for a while will clog up your DPF. I was able to cut off my DPF cut it open pressure wash it till it ran clear and welded it back together and clamped it back in to the exhaust. Ran great for a week but the injectors kicked off the check engine light again. The 1st dealer did not program the fuel Rate on each injector. I took it to a different dealer and they told me that aside from programming the injectors to the ECM you also have to program the fuel rate for each injector. The other dealer made no mention of that. It's about 800 bucks at the dealer to have them program the injectors and the fuel rates if you choose to change the injectors yourself and dont have a scan tool.

@@POINTBLANKPERFORMANCE, recommend customers to stop following factory oil change intervals and change more often using full synthetic. Or switch to 100% synthetic oil and follow factory recommend intervals. Fuel additives is a must. Diesel fuel in US doesn't even meet minimum requirements for fuel quality. No wonder Diesel engine have issues with fuel injection systems. Do you offer amsoil to your customers?

@@repairvehicle I’ve got 150,000 on my lp5 with no injector issues in fact no issues at all. What makes you think Diesel fuel in the US doesn’t meet minimum fuel requirements. What requirements is it missing? Are US vehicles not designed to run on US Diesel fuel? What additives do you think it needs? I used amsoil in the 80’s in gas engines running anywhere from 400 to 800hp and to be honest never saw a difference between it and mobile 1 or anything else for that matter.
