I think it's fine imo for her to nerf damage, but I think the best way to balance it is to either A. Just decrease damage for limited time without buffing her damage, B. Just buffer her damage for a limited time, or C. Keep it the way it is but when you tag out the debuff is gone, same with switching her out with a dragon rush swap

I know that there’s a common misconception about Brawl Meta Knight being banned, because in the end he was never banned since basically 75% of players played Meta Knight, no one would wanna play tournaments, which included Japanese players. So it was up to TOs to say whether he was banned or not. So because TOs wanted people to actually go to Brawl Tournaments, most tournaments never banned him So Labcoat 21 getting banned this fast already outclassed Brawl Meta Knight

First, you can have glasses-wearing girls take them off and suddenly become beautiful, or have girls wearing glasses flashing those cute grins, or have girls stealing the protagonist's glasses and putting them on like, "Haha, got your glasses!' That's just way too cute! Also, boys with glasses! I really like when their glasses have that suspicious looking gleam, and it's amazing how it can look really cool or just be a joke. I really like how it can fulfill all those abstract needs. Being able to switch up the styles and colors of glasses based on your mood is a lot of fun too! It's actually so much fun! 10:22 what’s crazy is that Meta Knight was never banned from big tournaments, just part of a suggested rule set for brawl tournaments. The reason it didn’t go into effect was that Japanese players wouldn’t go to Apex (the biggest smash tournament at the time) if they couldn’t use MK. Lab Coat 21 is just entirely different. I haven’t payed attention to her that much because I’ve gotten into other games than DBFZ and busy with my personal, I knew she was good but not this good.

Seeing characters like this always confuse me, since there's so many easy ways to nerf LC21 while also leaving her as a strong character. Casuals will still wanna buy the character for... aesthetic purposes, and more hardcore players will want to buy her as she's got a really good toolkit, but doesn't steamroll the entire roster for literally no reason. It also continues to confuse me how bad Arcsys keeps fucking up on zoning. They're either Frieza levels of bad, or they're an entirely different archetype that also happens to have the best zoning tools. Like, Z Broly has some of the best zoning tools despite being a fucking grappler with super armor on almost every option. LC21 has great zoning options while also being a rushdown. It makes absolutely no sense. There's easy ways to nerf her, imo, while still leaving her identity as a character intact. Like, the 21% damage debuff could easily only last until a character is downed on either team and the "next round," so to speak, starts. That still allows the character to have her own unique design choice, while being balanced around the aggressive playstyle that Arcsys created and be balanced around the strong comeback mechanics that the game uses. Or hell, maybe even only make it until the character is switched out, that way an entire team can't be nerfed all at once. Not nearly as strong, granted, but still forces your opponent to want to switch, meaning they can easily be baited into a punishable switch. However, it also allows your opponent to handle the debuff if they're smart and stay calm. How about only her vertical lariat is immune to ki blasts while her horizontal one isn't? Or vice versa, whichever one makes the most sense. Maybe the "step on me mommy" special should only be available as an EX option, that way you're forced to spend bar to continue combos, or maybe it should be considered a super and take a full bar. Still a powerful tool for maintaining combos and getting extra damage, but isn't literally free.

I generally dislike a character that has such a powerful ability, but it's unique and, with some tweaks, wouldn't necessarily be super op. It'd almost definitely put her in the top teir almost immediately based on that alone, unless she was really bad, but it didn't necessarily have to be broken.

Massive respect to not only that, but using the new Camera Mod with such efficiency. I will admit I mainly purchased LC21 since I wanted to play as a "good" version of A21, since the default version outside of the story is her evil version, and I really like personality of her good version in the story. I had no idea she was this purposefully broken however, its nuts. Impressive presentation and showcasing of your points too btw, both entertaining and very insightful.

Honestly, Omega Shenron could have been a much cooler (and balanced) character to make a DLC. He’s got tons of reference material and potential gimmicks, so he could have made it in and added more. Of course, this is just my opinion, you all can disagree if you choose.

Bandai Namco had something similar happen with Leroy and Fakuhm where both were obscenely broken. Leroy had versions of key moves from other characters, but they were BETTER than the ones on those characters. It makes me wonder how much of this stuff is really an "accident"

Well. Now, Lab Coat 21 has received a good amount of nerfs. Her spins are now registered as Ki Blasts and can be reflected when blocked and 21 now has a whopping 50% CUT TO HER METER GAIN.

I genuinely believe that, completely opposite of the "Buy my DLC theory", Arcsys truly wanted to make their OC as busted as possible. Not to mention the characters' being referenced in other pieces of lore and such. I'm sure Bamco saw it as an opportunity to make tons of money though, prolly made it easier to greenlight

Lab Coat 21 actually made me drop FighterZ. I usually take a break from it whenever a DLC character gets released, just because I KNOW I'm only gonna see that character online and I'm gonna get sick of them VERY quickly. I did the same thing for 21 at first, but then hearing about how blatantly broken she was just made me not wanna come back until it got fixed.

I think it may be useful to remember that in 3 decades of dbz games this is the first serious fighting game they've had, so a lot of decisions we've seen play out could be a result of that kind of "It's just a dragonball game" mentality, because historically there have been tons of broken things in past dbz games if that makes sense.
