LABS Free VSTi from Spitfire Audio - REAPER Template Download

LABS is a free virtual instrument from Spitfire Audio which is regularly updated with new unique content.
I think there's a lot of great sounds available here but I'm not a big fan of the interface, which is simultaneously minimal and wasteful.
To make things easier for you and me I've made a project template with a selection of LABS instruments, and all the parameters added as track controls.
I've also resaved all the presets for the VST3i version in REAPER's format which IMO is faster to navigate. (save to reaper's "presets" folder)

At the time of making this video I was dealing with an issue where notes would suddenly stop as disk usage spiked. You can see that occasionally in the video (mostly edited out) but it seems like an issue with my system. I couldn't find anyone else with this issue and I've been in contact with their support about it. Just FYI, YMMV.

I love the LABS series and watch Christian Hensons vlogs often, even tho most of these are designed more for cinematic composers. A couple of these downloads are quite big too for a freebie.

It a shame that the drums don't have multiple outs. I did some experiments with the velocity levels and there are some quite big leaps in the layers.

great video - have you checked out NI Komplete "Start" ? A few free good synths in there. Also, do you know a way of transposing the *Midi* of a *whole song* quickly? Right now I have to go into each midi clip and press the 'T' key to transpose. But I have to do this in the piano roll one by one. I don't want to right-click each clip and go into item properties.

Komplete Start is probably the best free bundle out there. I'll do a video on it for sure but I have to digest all the content still. For simple transposing you can select all and use a shortcut to change the pitch. For best results you will want to transpose from the MIDI editor so it can stay within the key. I think there's also a JS plugin for transposing in key, after you set once you can copy it to all other MIDI tracks.

Hi, man, I'd like to know if you hear an awful resonant note in the hi hats of Drums Labs. Specially in open and foot pedal (G#,A#) I can hear a loud Bb note which becomes really annoying after you notice it.

Hi! Can you update this template with the new instruments? Im blind and I canot navigate in the interface of the labs vst because My screen reader(the program wich I use to navigate through my computer) don't read anithing. but fortunately We have a addon for reaper called osara wich allows the screen reader interact with the reaper interface. So I can navigate through presets withouth problem

Because they sell very high quality (and huge) libraries at a pretty high price. Those LABS plugins are somewhat limited (but they still sound great) compared to their paid content. If you're happy with the LABS plugins, know that they're merely an amuse-bouche to what Spitfire Audio can offer. And no, I don't work for them.

Nice sounds, especially for free. I always had trouble with the samples, though. The vst kept losing the samples, until I got fed up with it. The charango is a sort of mandolin from South America. I am sure what you heard is a bit out of tune, but I guess we could chuck it to "charm", no?

@@TheREAPERBlog what is your primary instrument? In case you play the guitar and don't know about this vst, you could check out Midi Guitar by Jam Origin. Not as accurate as the Triple Play, I've read, but works awesomely and with any guitar.

Open the plug-in, move a knob a bit, click on "Param" in the upper right hand corner of the REAPER plug-in window and select the top-most line "Show in track controls".

Or click on the track's automation button and then select which parameter you'd like to have exposed via the "UI" check box in the automation window.

Where do I put the preset file I put it in my reaper preset directory but when I load the vsti3 plug in there are no presets in the list just says no presets any ideas I'm blind

try saving a preset and seeing where it goes and what it's called. Then replace /merge with my file

in any plugin - touch a parameter, go to Param button in plugin header, (last touched) show in track controls. There are a few other ways but that's usually how I do it.

Charango is a bolivian altiplanic instrument, and you played in the wrong octave I can say is more close to an ukelele than acoustic guitar You can search charango songs in KZbin.
