I went to Lady M with my Chinese friend in NYC last year and the cake was very delicious. But to be honest it’s nothing too special either. I’ve lived in Japan and have had many layered cakes exactly like this and I’ve also found many notable others here in the states. In the end I think it’s just like everything else when it comes to branding and hype culture where people willingly line up for an expensive food item mostly because of the brand. I’m not saying I won’t take other friends there either to try for themselves this winter break. Support all businesses who deliver what they promise.

a slice of cake that can cost you nearly $9 and cost as much at $20 for a slice of cake and a coffee. I dont see how the owner is not happy. The Singapore outlet is pretty much cooled down from the hype, guess too costly for people to enjoy.

In south east asia, it was popular once upon a time. Now nobody eats it. And that was like 6-8years ago. From the title, exactly which part of asia by storm? As far as I know, even taiwan korea or japan this crepe cake isn't selling well anymore. Might obviously be a paid publicity to scmp

Similar to kue lapis indonesia, a layer cake that very expensive . The layer has a meaning on it. Meaning every layer is representing every years success in life. It started to served and populars amongs chinese indonesia community at the beggining. The cake that influences by european dutch cake. Mostly served in chinese indonesia new year or eid mubarak idul fitry amd christmas time.

Vikingdom I don’t know where you live but boba tea love is mad in north west London. In china there’s an entire new market for bubble tea now -one of the most popular is 喜茶, it has somehow surpassed even costa and starbucks in popularity. It takes like half an hour to get a drink but everyone lines up for one lol. Suppppper expensive too. But, people think it’s worth it for the teas. I’m just concerned at how think the plastic lining is for the cups they use, there’s no need to have it that thick I mean do they expect ppl to be thrashing them around the pavements or something. Most people don’t care though when I mentioned it 😞 ah well. These things take time.
