The costume drama series, Downton Abbey, written and created by Oscar-winning writer Julian Fellowes, stars Academy Award-winner Maggie Smith as a Dowager Countess of an Edwardian English country house in 1912. I love Rose as a character because she's shown such growth, maybe even more than Mary ever has. Yes she was a spoiled brat in the beginning but she's always been well-meaning and found a rare kind of love, full of genuine affection, during the time that she lived. It depended on what interracial marriages looked like. Although there was opposition to Jewish, Irish, and upstairs/downstairs marriages in the European fashion, they still happened. Interracial when it came to color (dark skinned), African, African-American, was the taboo! Downton Abbey didn't know how to handle this without offending their audience. I felt that if they weren't ready to go down this road, then why introduce it?@@dylangarcia3898
