I have watched every laker teams except the Gmikan team because I was about 3-5 yr old but this was the most entertaining laker team ever. Although the "showtime" lakers were Fenace and showtime and enjoying your time , but this took it to another level especially Trevor being so underrated and expecting dunks and steals after steals with everything else. and "2000" lakers were about being dominance force.

Those days were great 08/09 was like showtime revisited. Great pace and stacked at every position. And imo those were kobe's *prime* years.
@RanD4Real9 жыл бұрын
More at his peak than prime. He couldn't get any better. He was definitely in his prime from 2001-2007. Once the Lakers started becoming contenders again and Pau came to LA, Kobe was at his peak because he became a better all around player both on and off ball offense and on and off ball defense, and a better leader. He didn't have to carry the load anymore because he has players around him that weren't that good and Kobe turned them into great players. That's why I always prefer him over LeBron.
@Roy-ml5fn8 жыл бұрын
What made this team the best and most exciting team I watched was because of the role players! Kobe and Pau were going to do their thing. But Odom, Ariza, Shannon Brown, etc. knew their roles and made the team so fun to watch!
@MrSheduur3 жыл бұрын
Best Lakers team of all time. From 2007-10 they were cooking and fun to watch. They kept a really large core group of players and went from somewhat on the up and up before having Gasol, to dominant after that first series against Boston, where they seemed to not be 100% ready to take it all. You could see it how much this group enjoyed playing together. Good spirits all around, lots of smiles whenever you saw the bench during games. As much as everyone talked about Kobe, Pau and Lamar, the bench guys like Farmar, Vujacic, Ariza, Shannon Brown and all the others were all in with this group. I still remember them being on Kimmel together and they were oozing friendship vibes. You could feel that this was a tight group that had been through bad and good times together. The current Lakers group is really good too, but they feel more like a lab experiment that got thrown together and was a lucky success, compared to these Lakers from back then :)
@oneman91213 жыл бұрын
Yeah a majority of the prominent role players along with Kobe were drafted. Fisher, Vujacic, Farmar, Walton, & Bynum. That's 6 rotational pieces. Super rare to see that today, but even for back then it was rare. The Spurs teams are the only teams that come to mind.
@ghostflame9211 Жыл бұрын
hearing those names again makes me sad. kind of unfortunate that bynum, ariza, and farmar never shined again after leaving, and i think shortly after 2010, vujacic and shannon brown left the NBA. really makes you consider that maybe, just maybe, despite his "mamba mentality" that was denounced with such vitriol back then, that kobe actually made his teammates better?
@cyrusjcritt9 жыл бұрын
Back in these days, the Lakers' bench was like another starting lineup. We were unstoppable in 2008-2009 season. I miss Brown, Farmar, Radmanovic,Vujacic, and ARIZA! Never should have traded him.

If you look back at this Laker lineup, they barely had any stars on the team besides Kobe and Pau etc. but the bench is what made this team so good, just imagine the 09 Lakers vs the 2012 Heat where they had many stars on their team just to make them good. The no names on the Lakers stepped up and became their own star.

This team was probably the funnest to watch of all the laker teams i've seen. They were all unselfish and knew their roles. I loved this team. This was Kobe's and Pau's team, and along with Bynum, Ariza and Fish, it was a great starting 5, but what made this team really special was the bench mob. Odom, Vujacic, Brown, Farmar. and Walton. No team today could beat that 2008 Laker team.Only Boston's 3 headed monster of Garnett, Pierce and Ray Allen beat us. They never should have traded Ariza though. He was phenomenol that year.

The battles we had between 2007-2012 were the best when both teams were at the top of their game and both championship caliber franchises.
