The negative take is silly considering he's a legit big body that can score 3 levels. That alone is a positive asset to any team. In terms of defense, he doesn't get enough credit for being one of the few players on the roster that can usually hold their own against their guy. When talking about weakness it's when he has to help cover for others that can't hold their own. On a team that has no big holes defensively he would all a sudden be a valuable asset 😂

As long as Rob Pelinka is Lakers VP/GM, Lakers will not have a legit championship roster. Fact that we are discussing about Gabe just after two years he was acquired tells a lot about Rob Pelinka's damaging work done so far. Lakers need a GM/VP who has an ability identify talent and create each year roster which is competitive and have players who has trade values to make adjustments and eventually put Lakers in position to compete seriously for WCF first.

If you ask me, I'd trade one or the other. I'd trade Rui for better fits around me. If there was a scenario where I trade Rui, Wood and a 1st for Kelly Olynyk and maybe someone else from 3 team trade that is cheap but has value for this team I would do so. Only way I'm trading Gabe eis if we can find a way to get back Dennis if its possible. They need to focus on upgrading the bench and getting rid of guys that is holding up spots for us (Cam,Wood,JHS).

I mostly agree with you. Plus with Bron at 40 there is just really no way he can slide down to the 3 for extended periods. Turner would help us off the bench in a pretty big way, but do you really give up multiple 1st round picks we can't afford to lose for bench help. I don't know.

If Danny Ainge wants Knecht and both firsts for Kessler, then the compromise should be Gabe, JHS, and Wood for Colin Sexton. Then hopefully Chris Paul is a part of a buyout with a fox trade to the spurs since he makes under 13 mil this year. But that's the only way i'd give up both firsts for Kessler. Sexton is only 26 and Kessler is 23. Both have shown first round value and could recoup assets in the future if they needed to be traded. Who other than Dalton Knecht would be considered first round value from the lakers side of this trade and even Knecht has been struggling for a while. Keep Rui because he gives wing depth and is more valuable to the lakers than to other teams.

@rickpeso7854 what assets? Rui is solid, but he's a bad defender, bad rebounder, bad passer, and the only thing he's good at (3 point shooting) he's a low volume one. The rest of the guys in the trade for ball and Craig don't really contribute much. And 2nd round picks aren't that important for a team trying to be contenders. Getting Robert Williams would be a steal if all you have to give up is gabe (a negative contract), cwood, and a 1st round pick with lottery protections. If you want to say it's a risky trade because both zo and timelord are injury prone, I agree. But for what the Lakers would be giving up, it's worth the risk.
