Well as some of you would have seen on Instagram I had a little whoopsie on the on the H2 at the weekend.. The damage isnt too bad and I feel like an absolute idiot but had the aftermath on camera so here it is for all too see..

@@LambChopRides I had the exact thing happen to me as I couldn't get my right foot off the peg on my 2021 MT09 at a stop....thankfully it wasn't so expensive as yours. Well, at least I'm now officially as good a rider as Chopsie, NOT!!!

Done this myself but luckily it was on an old battered bike and had a couple of close calls. I now always were boots I can tuck my trousers in. Videos like this help me realise I am not as goofy as I think when these things happen to the best of us. Looking forward to what you are doing next!

I've been riding since I was 17 (I'm a couple of months away from 69 now), so I've had a couple of self-imposed 'incidents' myself 😂 Glad you're ok Chopsy, and if it had to happen, better on a deserted country lane than on a busy street where there's an audience! Thanks for sharing, it reminds us that these things can happen to the most experienced of riders!

I feel ya, and glad that you are ok! Had the exact same thing happen to me on my Multistrada a few years back: my pant leg got caught on the footpeg at a stop on a tilted road and over I went. It was the longest half-second of my life, LOL. I empathize with the moment you realized there is nothing you can do but brace for impact and hope you don't smash the tank. Poor h2, I just finished a 4 month rebuild of my dream bike. Man it hurts but it’s the kind of thing you have to be grateful you’re ok when you walk away, also I had my shoelace stuck to my peg one time and I shoved my foot down so hard I snapped the lace and nearly did the exact same thing. Dude it happens

It's a real bummer, however, you can always replace bits from your bike, but you cannot replace yourself. Am pleased you did not get injured, just pride, but once you'll repair it, you'll have a big smile again. Take the opportunity to do some upgrades. Thanks for posting. Wish I could rag you for the silly mistake, but I have had similar experiences. So I will say, glad to see you were not harmed and it is always easier (often cheaper) to fix a bike than it is the injuries which could accompany such drops. Glad to see you are ok, except for a mildly bruised ego.

Dropped a fuel tank off the side of a FZR many years ago servicing it, Landed upside down paint finished wrecked the pain stays with you !

So many comments have said it all. I’ve been riding over 50yrs and it has happened once or thrice, never ever feels any better. Sad to see, glad you are OK. I had a zero speed incident like this about a year ago brought about by too high a seat hight for my little legs and a road that dropped away rapidly to the left. The only damage was an after market bar end mirror head for which I had a spare anyway and a bent rear brake lever. A couple of chaps on another bike stopped and helped me pick the bike up. It was at a red light, changing to green with car traffic behind so lots of embarrassment. I've since lowered the seat height with shorter rear shocks and shifted the forks further up into the triple clamp so this should not happen again and taken 23kg out of the weight of the bike (about 10%) to make the chance of picking the bike up a again a little higher.

Glad you are ok mate as you are more important than the bike. The thing is, whilst as a rider you always try to be on you metal all of the time, in my experience it's that split second unexpected situation that might get the better of you and catch you out and this was one of those in my opinion.😊

All part of biking and we've all done it at some stage. Bike is fixable & like you said, it could be an insurance claim. You mentioned that you've had nothing but problems with the H2....... maybe its time to move it on & get something else....a few times you said I'm tempted... Brave for sharing ...most respect !

Don't feel too bad Chopsy, I did a similar thing only last year, I thought I had put my side stand down but unbeknown to me, it flicked back up again and dropped the bike pretty hard, it bent the gear shifter resulting in not being able to change gear so it was stuck in neutral when I finally got her home and assessed the damage, I found I had knackered the gearbox so rather than messing around finding a new gearbox, I decided to sell the bike as spare or repair...Take care and be safe mate.

Damn! Sorry to see this. I feel your pain, I dropped my bike earlier in the year having left the disc lock on like an absolute cockwomble! While the pain on my wallet doesn’t quite compare (about £200 of damage), the embarrassment level was off the chart as I did it in front of hospital security as well as my wife and kids 😂

Chops I did the same thing yesterday - albeit with a less expensive bike - pushing it on uneven ground I had left the side stand up and all of a sudden the bike was on its side - luckily I laid it down so the impact was minimal. 7 years I have had this bike and barely a scatch on it. The good news is there are a few easliy rectified marks on the engine casing. So I fully empathis with you.

I don’t know about your license but there are just too many cameras here in Yorkshire and I am looking at a ban. God knows how to keep a license with a H2!

Sorry to hear that Chops. I got rear ended while stopped at a junction on my 2021 S1000 m package in July. The impact flipped the bike over on its left side at a severe angle and I was unable to get it upright so had to lay it gently on the ground. Thankfully it landed on its R&G crash bung so no damage to the left side. My number plate holder was wrecked of course but was able to replace that myself so just cost me €85 for the broken part. Thankfully no damage to the carbon rear wheel. I did get 2nd degree burns to the inside of my right leg from it up against the engine when I was trying to get it upright and sprained my thumb on my left hand and have some neck issues. But the bike is back in shape now again and I am on the mend - so in two / three months I am sure you will have things back to normal too. Unlike you tough my accident happened at the height of summer on a busy junction near the beach with holiday home balconies full of people looking down on me as well as the passing traffic from the huge traffic jam it caused. Humiliating experience.

It happened to me first day I picked mine up, got my trouser leg caught and oops I had to lay her down, so it was gently put on the ground, I thought I got away with it but under the crank case was a stone that dented it.... so bloody soft! Hope you get it sorted, and the good thing is you are not injured. Stay safe.

Normally I would have a bit of a good natured chuckle but owning one myself I almost had a tear in my eye when you said the panel was cracked and seeing a little mark on the crankcase. Not many of these bikes about in the uk. Hopefully it’s not too expensive to get the panel replaced but as you said they ain’t too cheap. Maybe just patch it up from the back. 😮

Oh man, I hate that for you brother!!! I just dropped my Super Duke R Evo in a parking lot, I was so embarrassed. Broke the foot brake and the handlebar bar weigh was jacked up and scratched the cover for the exhaust servo… foot break is on back order for three months so I had a shop fix it good as new.

We've all been there Chops - in my case twice! Once at a T junction on tour in Germany and (even worse) once on my drive when I failed to put the side stand down properly and ended up underneath it... Amazing how much a bit of minor cosmetic damage from a zero mph spill can cost.....

I feel for you and hope you can get the bike fixed for less than you thought. I dropped my two week old Tracer 9GT in June. It was at night on a rural road, there was an accident blocking the road with vehicles approaching from behind and pouring with rain. I elected to turn around on a farm entrance and the back wheel slipped half way through the turn followed by my foot slipping when I put it down to stop falling. I was lucky with extremely minimal damage to a handguard and plastic clutch cover. Stay safe.

I would suggest you get a new fairing panel but keep it in the box and repair the old one, it can be plastic welded on the inside and still used. These things happen to the best of us.
