Track tests are fine, but I really appreciate the "real world" tests like this. I'd be interested in a naked version of this one (the bike that is, not the reviewer!).

Bike design is coming on in leaps and bounds at the moment. Until this week, I thought the V2 was the most interesting sports bike on the market. That was until the Aprilia RS660 launched. Lighter, shorter, next gen electronics, sensible ergonomics and a totally adequate 100bhp. I love the direction of the new middleweights.

This bike definitely looks like it's more fun to ride than the V4s and that's what it's all about when you're riding motorcycles. Fun factor! Great video again chops....looking forward to the full review😊👍 Shame about the good old British weather though......always happens when you want to take a motorcycle out on the road.💦

It has plenty of HP for the public road. 150 is insane on such a light bike. If you’re pushing it to the limit in traffic, that is just Darwinism in motion, but at least you’ll have a sexy and stylish death.

G'day Mr Chops. This was a really good video, on the edge of my seat watching it. Gee that was a lot of water. Gimme the V2 over the V4 anyday. It's a far more tractable machine and easier to get the power down, 150+ HP is more than enough for me. What a beautiful machine.

I think twin (ie., not many) cylinders is a large part of the tyre grip equation (thumpers being even better). Widely pulsed delivery of power gives rubber the time to recover and 'flow' into the surface it's on and when the pulse arrives at the point of contact, it's pushing against a coefficient of friction that is closer to it's STATIC value as opposed to its KINETIC value of friction (for rubber against road). Kinetic vs static friction = it's easier to keep an object sliding than it is to start an object sliding. Also as rubber approaches it's deformation limit it becomes harder and and can't offer as much friction against a given surface. Relaxed rubber = grippy rubber. What this translates to is more confidence leaned over in a corner, and more explosive (initial) acceleration.

The smaller V twins are the best bikes Ducati make, I’ve had an 899 from new and it’s got over 25,000 miles on it now, it’s took everything I’ve thrown at it in its stride, had some great tours on it, why people buy them and hide them away in the garage baffles me, get out and ride them !! Not tempted to trade the 899 on this V2 until Ducati do a “ V2 S” model with ( non-electronic ) Ohlins and Brembo M50s, but I doubt if Ducati will do that as I think even they realise that no one would buy a V4 then!
