Hi there, enjoy your videos. Just about your selenium problem. We farmed up in Lees Valley for 33 years and had a similar problem to you with fertility, and it showed up a lot more and the dry years. Particularly from 2000-04, scanning was back significantly. We did the blood test similar to you and found we had a problem with low selenium. We went to injecting the cattle when we sorted up after winter before calving, that fixed the problem and started scanning around 95% again. However, with the Ewes, the blood test we had done at the time came back as selenium levels being fine, so we never injected them with the long acting product(just continued using mineral blocks and the odd drench). However, we still struggled with scanning percentages and after watching how much better the cattle were doing we decided to start doing the ewes as well. The following year we increased scanning by about 25% and lamb survival increased as well, so I would suggest that you could look at doing this. We found injecting at weaning, worked the best. I love the care you show with your ewes, its the same as I do with my parrots. I really feel for you everytime you lose a lamb or calf. Its the same as me when I lose a baby parrot mate. They mean the world to me but different to you they are not my source of income. Veterans Affairs is.

Hi mate Have you ever tried a drench hook? Way better than the short gun for both man and cow. Those needles are meant to be subcutaneous.
