LAMBING is off to a BAD START

These triplet ewes weren't due for another week yet. I think the stress of moving them inside has caused the issues and it happens to us most years.
Hopefully there aren't any more premature lambs coming!

ABOUT ME
I’m 32 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on KZbin and decided I could have a go and now here we are!

Best thing I found for mixing colostrum are the protein shakers with the spring ball thing, mixes well and there's no mucking about with whisks and jugs.

Humm Sandi Brock had a few preemie lambs this spring too. 😞 Sandi says the colostrum you mix up is $$$$. Sometimes some of the mums have big teats, too big the babies can’t access to nurse initially, so she uses her trusty ewe “breast pump”. I was shocked how much colostrum she “milked off” this one particular ewe. 😮 Great video as always Cammy. ❤ to you and the family from Atlantic Canada. Hey Cammie, you should have your FlockWatch gun out there, to record which ewes got dosed with each Medicine. It adds a wee bit of handling time, but the data you collect can help you predict future expenses, and maybe even which girls go to the sale barn in the future…

Never a dull moment, when shepherding! You should give Sandi the plans for her husband to build a proper hotbox, like you have. It amazes me after all these years she still uses hot water and a heating pad, such a waste of time and stress on the lamb. Always hard when moving ewes in lamb that they don't bang around too much and have placentas detach. Wishing you a successful lambing!

Top tip Cammy, throw that spray iodine in the hedge and replace it with a teat dip cup off a dairy farm and hey presto no more joint hill. Done it for 20 years and never had 1 since. Did you find the ingredients of the vikings slurry mixture for me? Very interesting. ❤ The sheep game

Where I live in Northern Ireland the farmers use the spry you use to mark how many lambs to also mark who owns the sheep in a system only they know 😂 Me Da tried to explain it all to me on who’s who’s sheep because he worked around all the farms here as a boy instead of going to school. Hi, you know Sandi has had alot of problems this lambiNg time. Maybe it's the time of the year. Sandi found lambs need to be 37C to be able to eat etc. Of course you know that and you watch Sandi love your videos. Someday it has to be here and there and that's OK it's never really the same .
