Nice wrap on an absolutely brilliant build. I’ve really enjoyed seeing it happen. Your video & editing skills are nearly as good as your amazing fabrication, welding and design abilities. A pleasure to watch a master at work. The safety beers were a crack up! Sorry THC didn’t give you as much running as you would have liked. It always takes a few events to get a new build sorted. My 2600 still isn’t there! Must talk to you at some point to see if your Panhard rod concept (as seen on Jeff’s Alfarrari) could be adapted for the 2600. Similar rear end. Same issue with roll centre. Till then, good luck. Can’t wait to see the Stratos unleashed in Tassie!
@105colin2 жыл бұрын
Yea we knew it was going to be a battle, but we had a great time anyway, was so good to be back rallying again. No worries sure something similar could be done to the 2600. Yea madly getting ready for Tassie, can't wait

She's a beaut! Iconic design combined with precision engineering. The Antipodean Bad Obsession fuelled by beer rather than tea.
Great resume Colin. I don’t know if it happens to you, but when I finish a project and I look backwards to see what I did, I become lazy and think i wouldn’t do it again. Then comes another project and I forget about it, plus there is always things to adjust, remake, improve,…. Personally I would appreciate more videos driving it, but to see it from outside the car to see how it looks Great job, you deserve another beer or two

@105colin2 жыл бұрын
I've got a an issue with tool purchasing... Plenty of projects to come, but the stratos still needs some development
@paulmorton42982 жыл бұрын
Loved it - a highlight film makes it look easy. What let you down in Targa High Country?
@105colin2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, yea few things, incomplete ignition map caused some over heating, and a few suspension issues, I'll do a video of the problems soon, unf they took a long time to fix so we missed a lot of stages, but it was a weapon when it was going
@fractalrender2 жыл бұрын
Best build in KZbin!!. You should get endorsed by the beers marc!!. How does it drive?. Is it as dificult as the original car?. Trully great colin!!! Are you going to do more videos about the stratos? Are you going to put decals on it? Cheers!!!! Hope to see the next one!
@105colin2 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, wouldn't say it's difficult, but it's a mid engine car, so a lot different to what I'm used to, but wow has it got some turn in! Yea plenty for stratos vids today come

Nice summary of a great build. Looking forward to the THC debrief video. I hope you put the spanners back in the right place. The light pod looks fantastic; any night running? Rear wheels wider than front?
@105colin2 жыл бұрын
Always!.. Thanks, yea the light pods are really growing on me, na no night run, just mixing it up. Yea ended up finding some wider rears, still have skinny rears as well so we can mix and match

When I was a young bloke, I was entranced by Lancia Stratos Tamiya models. This upload was in my 'New To You' so I just watched it. I caught my breath when I saw you drinking a Furphy but held my excitement until I saw the Victorian plates!!!!! OMG, this is Australian! Do you do the rounds of the shows? Do you do Newcastle, NSW specifically? Have you been to the Meguiar's Show And Shine at Old bar? I would love to see this car in person.
@105colin Жыл бұрын
Hey mate thanks for the comment. Yea I'm not so much into the car show scene, but hopefully Tarmac rallying in Australia gets back underway, if so the car will be out and about, so you might be able to catch it then Cheers

Great job, Colin! A couple of questions, as I’m planning my own Stratos replica. I know you said you used an MR2 radiator. I’m assuming from an MR2 Turbo? My Alfa V6 should have about 265hp; I want to have plenty of cooling capacity. Also, have you tested the suspension updates yet?
@105colin2 ай бұрын
Thanks mate, yea the latest rad is from a MR2 spyder i think, its a 3 pass one the original one I used was only 2 pass and was marginal at best, plus upgraded to bigger water pumps. Water cooling is good now, Oil cooling was still a problem and have added a massive oil cooler at the back of the car where i had the diffuser. The original engine had a decent oil cooler from the factory so i think oil temp is an issue with these engines. I have tested the suspension updates, they made a good improvement, and the car is much more predictable we've since discovered that the factory pickup points of the hawk induce some rear bump steer, was an easy fix, just had to move the trailering arm inboard point 20mm closer to the chassis rail, haven't tested that one, but should be further improvements.
