Pretty much the pajero won, either by virtue of a super driving technique, or superior traction control. The Prado spun it up and lost traction. The Pajero maintained traction and was able to move forwards. Hardly a test of which is the better vehicle, but we all know that's the Pajero

Well not a fair match up. The LC was on much softer ground so no traction. Had they swap positions the result would have been reversed. Also was the Pajero a 3L or 3.5L diesel and what size engine was in that Prado, because it isn't the latest model. The newest Prado has a more powerful engine if it is a diesel.

The prado's tire is full of air and the pajero has less air so it gets more traction control. Now their engines, pajero has 3L or 3.5L as you said and that prado has 4.0L (for gas engine) and 2.8L for diesel engine now if its gas vs diesel, diesel vs diesel or gas vs gas, then prado would win one of those.

You don't know much. One, it looked like the Pajero was pulling it up hill, may not have been. Two, the Pajero either has a 3.2 turbo diesel or a 3.8 V6 petrol, and the Prado either has a 3.0td, 2.8td or a 4.0 V6 petrol. Three, that Pajero could have been around a 2012 or newer model. The reason the Pajero won was because it had more torque, a heap ton better traction (because of Mitsubishi's hybrid limited slip diff) and the Pajero is just better in general.

Pajero has super select, Prado don't. At low speed Pajero will always be more torquy than a Prado (gasoline vs gasoline or dieseil vs diesel).

Super select means the driver can shift the 4wd gear while driving. Nothing to do with torq or anything. If u saying the Pajero was using 4L gear then the Prado also can change the 4wd gear beforehand, no excuses here

I love my old 80 series but independent front will always offer more traction than solid front axle.. the solid front just gives more flex, but nowhere near as capable for high speed handling, towing heavy weight and traction. Also, the old engines in the 80 series produce less power than this newer Prado

Mitsubishi built the Pajero to try compete with full size LandCruisers and you put it up against the smaller LandCruiser Prado which in the right condition would have killed the Pajero anyway. LandCruisers have a legendary history worldwide in the harshest conditions getting people home safely in a bone stock vehicle. Pajero has a rally history in a completely redesigned car that doesn't even slightly resemble the real Pajero they sell to you aside from the fake body on it. Don't confuse Toyota with Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi are a great budget brand of vehicles that'll get you from A to B.. but they will never in anybody's lifetime live up to what Toyota has achieved. That's why your beloved Dakar and Baja rally has rescue and recovery vehicles that are stock standard LandCruisers. That's why people in the hardest environments use HiAce, Hilux's and LandCruisers. That's why major expeditions in unexplored territory's in the hottest or coldest places in the world uses Toyota's. That's why mining companies use Toyota. That's why agriculture and farming use Toyota. That's why businesses and hire car companies mostly use Toyota unless they look for budget options to save money, which in the long term Toyota's always cost less. They can work hard and handle abuse and neglect for 30 years and still get you to work everyday and they will still put any other car company to shame off the beaten track. So no point even trying to have that argument.. you might feel good inside about your budget Toyota copy, but it will never live up to it.

In order to compete with the Dakar rally, a manufacturer should make a road legal car for it to be qualified, even if it has nothing to do with the production version, Mitsubishi applied its experience and engineering into the production version and say hello to SuperSelect II 4WD and S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) both are one of the most advance systems in the planet, Toyota doesn't even come close to Mitsubishi's traction control system and electronics, I've seen a Pajero with 0 differential locks on and it walked up a challenging hill without breaking a sweat, the Pajero is powered by the 6G series of engines which is proven to be reliable and the 4M41 diesel was perfect, Toyota is overrated when it comes to reliability. Mitsubishi makes car parts, Mitsubishi makes some parts for Toyota, Mitsubishi even supplies turbochargers for McLaren :)
