Icy Mike is right; this is Taekwon-Do. most people think Taekwon-Do is just high kicks and jumps. Taekwon-Do teaches to kick at any target and at any angle. Also, the way you guys work on the techniques, experiment and study it so that your training then can focus on what works best for each one of you... Well done gentlemen. This is the way ;)

You can't kick leg in taekwondo tho
@odojang Жыл бұрын
@@Heavenly_Demon_God In sport, no; because it would discourage high level performance and needlessly multiply the risks of injury. But in the complete training of General Choi Hong Hi, there are many low kicks and leg attacks, sweeps and checking kicks, starting with several patterns teaching those moves (i.e. Gwang-Gae's side checking kick, Po-Eun's low side-kick, Gae-Baek's front twisting kick, Moon-Moo's front leg sweep etc) up to and including sparring sessions aimed at self-defense or perfecting kicking. Unfortunately, too many people only know about Olympic Taekwondo, where a lot of techniques (including the hundreds of hand techniques, several specifically tailored to also attack the legs) are not allowed and therefore not known or perfected. That's the downside of sport in a martial art.

If you want to do some more research on TKD style kicks used for both attacking the legs and intercepting an opposing kicker's attacks, check out Taekkyon. It's an older martial art from Korea that is one of the roots of TKD. Some of it is vaguely dance-like similar to Capoeira, but the techniques can still be borrowed and applied. Also some elements of Judo if you're into that sort of thing.

Double jumping roundhouse kick to the body or body-head is a taekwondo technique. TKD practitioners don't typically train any leg kicks (it's illegal in sport TKD) but it seems like it would be easy to apply the technique to leg kicks.

TaeKwonDo guy for many years here. I trained TKD practically my whole childhood and at around 16 moved over to an MMA gym and started training kickboxing and BJJ. If you can take a few things from TKD and apply them in odd situations, you can get great returns in the MMA community. For instance, I used to love using crescent kicks to the guard to get a guy to drop his hands; it's quick, you can force your foot back down quickly to avoid getting caught, and it's unexpected to a lot of muay thai/kickboxing players.

The outside inside leg kick is also useful for someone who's a wrestler like myself. As soon as your opponent back leg is lifted, you can go in for the double leg. He's only standing on one leg for a few seconds.
@bentinho4 жыл бұрын
Not sure of the rules now but back in the late 90's-early 2000's WTF TKD competitions we could outside leg kick as long as it was transitory to a 2nd kick (the double round used here was very popular at the time). First kick would almost freeze your opponent and open them up for the second or if the first kick missed, likely because they slid back, you could run them down with the second kick.
