Yeh this is Courchevel 1850 IIRC. Went there several years back, great place and cool watching the odd plane take off/ land while you ski! I think that building by the runway is a 5* hotel.

I think the benefits of the cold air are probably nullified by the altitude of the airport. I wouldn't fancy trying that if the wind was going the other way though, then you'd be going down the slope on landing and up the slope on take off! Nice plane, and great choice of music.

That IS a ski jump!! The slope is actually very efficient towards take off and landing! Nice!

Ahh courchevel. I've spent a lot of time in flight simulator taking off and landing from there in the largest aircraft I could get down in one piece. The slope with the level section at the end is a really neat design.

There is a good size airport in Oceanside, CA, where it has a slope up - then down on it's airport. And they have small commercial aircraft and lear jets landing there all the time. Weird strip to land and take off as well.

I landed on a similar runway in the midwest near council bluffs. When I flared instead of easing down on the runway it just comes up to you. I said, "Nice service."

That's actually quite a fine short runway.. note the downgrade in the middle of the run that aids in groundspeed to lift off. Same downgrade becomes an upgrade for landing to slow you down. I fly out of Lowe's Airport east of 2I0 in Kentucky and it has the same configuration basically. All TO's are short field,and all landings are on the upgrade -- never have to touch the brakes.

There's a private runway in Tennessee north of Knoxville that has a similar slope. About mile marker 124 on I-75. The runway points right at the Interstate. The guy has either a 172 or a 182 based there.

I believe it is in FSX. I recall an adventure mission that required you to land on a runway that looked very similar to this.

The one we tried was a shorter runway with gravel on top of a mountain in Colorodo, this one is paved and longer, more like your local small airport.

Yes - Pilatus PC12/45. I think it was #492 - last seen in Jordan after it was sold in June 2006.

That Pilatus looks very nice in silver; never saw one with that livery before. Oh, and that runway's 1722'; must take balls to operate there.

in NY here we get snow here and that does definitely look like snow. :) I actually hate snow it's annoying. You have to clean it and get it out of the way all the time. A heaping shovel of that stuff is heavy.. So its back breaking time consuming and then from you getting physically tired from shoveling it your immune system weakens so it causes you to get sick (and other people) which then gets spread around.. Hence the cold and flu season. in all the grass is truly greener by you. :)

Is it true there is yellow snow, and you should'nt eat it? I heard that once. Whats wrong with it is it full of soot from a factory or something. Will it stain clothes? What other colors are there? It sounds like it is a lot of work. I feel for you all.

Not only does this look like the take off from 'Goldeneye' when Bond gets into the plane from driving off from the cliff on the motorbike. It looks like the scene in 'The World Is Not Enough' when Bond blows up so many vehicles and planes at the 'arms fair' before flying off in one of the planes to make his escape. =)

Its a Pilatus PC12 - So its a turbo prop like the Cessna Caravan's etc. So essencially a turbine with a prop bolted on the shaft instead of a series of fans.

I havent flowin into here but I know someone who has. The SOP for most inbound GA aircraft is full power after touchdown, lest ye roll back. Not sure how it works for a PC12
