I completely agree with you. I lost a lot of respect for Norris when he put their friendship on the line in Austria. Especially if you look at the reactions from both drivers, even someone who has never heard of F1 would be able to tell you which of the two is the world champion. And after Brazil, I can finally say I actually really dislike Norris. To say "It's not talent, it's just luck" for the free tyre change, after Max DEFENDED him when he was asked if he was lucky with the safety car in Miami. Piastri will win a world championship before Lando does, as soon as McLaren stops putting all their eggs in Landos basket.

I think Lando has issues with pressure whenever it is on him. As much as Verstappen is talented and the win was based on talent, the win would have been impossible if Lando himself was a better driver. His own failures made it possible for Verstappen to win and that eats at him and he feels the need to vent or downplay the situation. Its something he would probably get better at as he matures.

@@YGhost_05 Sorry it wasn't luck, it was race intelligence. Max and Alpine reasoned that a red flag was due given the condition of the track. Therefore, they risked continuing on their worn tyres. George wanted to do the same, but was reeled in by Mercedes. Lando had begged to come in a lap earlier.

It was a risky guess that only a driver confident in their ability in the wets would take, and an option only available to the best drivers in the wet that day who are able to drive well enough, reducing their tyre deg in their 1st stint to the extent they have enough margin to gamble for a red flag which virtually everyone can see was going to happen soon. This isnt luck, its skill. Mess it up and people will put you down for being stupid and not getting new tyres when your skills arent as good as you think. First time I've discovered your channel. I agree with lots of your points. I'm British and I find our media absolutely laughable. Lando is no rookie, he's a seasoned pro. Most drivers are lucky to get more than 5 seasons in F1. Lando's "attempt" at the Championship has been a disgrace. Brazil last week proves that alone, the gulf between Max and Lando is huge. If not for team orders, Piastri would have beaten him as well. There's 6 drivers I can think of who'd win the title in that McLaren.

@@officialECS Russell is twice the driver Lando is 100%. In Formula 2, Russell trounced Lando and George's improvement has been bigger than Lando's. George since joining Mercedes has gone toe to toe with Lewis Hamilton. Struggled in 2023 as LH beat him comfortably, but has showed amazing character as he's had a strong 2024, some of it maybe because LH's mind is elsewhere knowing he's off to Ferrari but still it's great bounce back ability. If not for a DQ in Belgium he'd have 2 race wins this year. Put Russell in the same car as Lando and Russell will trounce him at a canter.

I WAS a Norris fan starting this season. I joined this wonderful community about a year ago and was tired of hearing the Dutch national anthem every race in the '23 season. Verstappen is THAT good and he is one of the best drivers out there. I went to my first live race in Miami and witnessed Lando's first win. From that day, I continued rooting for him hoping that Norris could break the cycle of a back to back to back championship, up until recently after Brazil. The comments about Verstappen being just "lucky" after the red flag screams so much sore loser energy to me. This dude went from P17 to P1 in the worst conditions of the season and you dont even have the respect to just say he had the best drive of his career. Might as well be a Leclerc fan at this point. I hope me being a fan of you guys will stop the strategy curse that looms occasionally throughout the seasons.

Very critical, a bit too much maybe in a few spots, but overall, you speak the truth. Norris was never a title contender, he just happened to be runner up and if that's a Brit, it will get hyped. At the moment the Brits started naming him a title contender I just did the calculation, at his best he needed 8 points per race on average, then it became 9, then 10. It was nearly 12 in Brazil. He's been losing it all the way, even while closing the gap, it was never enough.

I don't think Max would have won with the McLaren being that much faster after Miami. In Cota Max was like a second slower than the McLaren and on the same pace as the Haas from Kevin.

The chart showcasing Norris having scored +48 over Max, whilst Max scored +58 over Norris, would mean that the net is +10 for Max. This is damning. Despite having a superior car for the majority of this year, Norris has not gained but lost ground in the net calculation. This is purely due to his inability to drive, specifically to drive to the standard of a champion. Other men have had less then stellar cars which received sudden upgrades and improved to the level of being championship worthy - Nigel Mansell being one such man. The Williams car was good, and in 1992 amongst other wonderful drivers (Senna, Schumacher, Hakkinen) he won his one and only championship. Norris received a similar boost in car quality, he had nearly 3/4ths of the season to compete and claim victory. He lost ground to Verstappen. The McLaren is superior to the Red Bull by a noticeable and significant margin. Norris is inferior to Max by an insurmountable margin.

I have to agree. Lando is sour and it was his own fault what happened. He had the best chance he could have had going in to this race. And he blew it. And then after he says "They got luck. Off a rule no one agrees with." And then he said, "George probably deserved to win." Clearly he is trying to downplay what Max did. If he was a class driver he would have said, "Max drove great. He deserved that win."

And remember, he was a designated second driver and yet in his best season Bottas got 4 wins and 15 podium (2019, total 21 races), that's still better than Norris's current campaign. What I believe the OP said is that if Bottas was a second driver to Piastri, possibly Piastri could be WDC.

The thing with champions, I don't believe they that 'learning' or get 'enough experience' is enough to make their talent convert in to championships. Everybody is talking about teams who try to nurture the drivers to great performances. I don't believe this is enough. Real champions KNOW what they need and TELL their team to get it. This is lacking for Lando. I don't believe this can be learned, it's just a natural part of who you are. That's why Lando, but also Leclerc, both extremely talented drivers, will never be world champion.

I think it is a bit of a stretch currently to put Piastri equal to Norris. He isn't that far behind but usually Norris out qualifies him and does better in the race. Where Norris loses out is in race craft. He is mostly too conservative and timid so tends to out in wheel to wheel situations. He is obviously aware of his reputation there so he then overcompensates and goes for a gap that isn't there or easily blocked and blames the other diver when it goes wrong and he goes off or hits the other driver.

The entire world 🌎 know, that Max is a very great and skill driver. Even thou his car isn't that good. If the car was all good. Lando wouldn't win not even one. Even red bull team leader says. Max let them get points with a car that's not so good and given them problems. And Max extract proformance out of it on the track

While (mainly British) media are setting Lando up as the title contender for 2025, I reckon Piastri will not be very compliant towards team orders next year. Now I like Lando. I really do. Next year, if the gap between cars does not change too much and in fact they come closer to each other.. it will be fun, Max, Charles, George, Lewis, Piastri all will be in for a challenge. I still dont trust Norris to pose a real threat, simple reason being we have not seen one mind boggling drive from him in his career, we have seen amazing quali laps but not one race this season where we can say he beat all odds to win it like others. Piastri looks mentally in a better place imo.

I don‘t like Lando and love Oscar but I think you can‘t really say that he‘s on the same pace yet. Lando generally outqualifies him and sometimes by a decent margin. His race pace is usually also better. The reason I love Oscar is his wheel to wheel racing is so fun to watch. If you were to combine the two of them you would get…well: Max Verstappen. I‘m sure Oscar will get better though. 2025 should be fun.

After the Brazil GP my mother mentioned how Norris is struggling to win with the best car on the grid, while Hamilton lost the title in his FIRST season in F1 by a single point to Raikkönen only to win it the next season. Hamilton obviously had far less experience.

He doesn't need 2 more points than Lando at Vegas, he simply needs to be within 2 points of Lando, and the title will be clinched. There are 60 points left possible after Vegas, and he has a 62 point lead currently and the countback tiebreaker by more wins than Lando can possibly get even if he wins all 3 remaining races.

Lando is a nice guy but under pressure fails too much, and when interviewed put the blame on others being luck or otherwise. It's understandable when interviewed with a dissapointed result he often refuses to say he needs to do better.. Like Leclerq's 'I am stupid' moment. Norris and Piastri are the same in qualifying pace? Come on.. It's like 17-4 to Lando. Either massively underrating Lando here or overrating Piastri. Piastri is a good wheel to wheel racer but just seems to lack raw pace, the tires can only be an excuse for so long. I don't see him being faster than Lando. I'd loved to be proven wrong as I don't really like Lando, but you can't deny his talent. (Which is what everyone seems to be doing now)
