Being an adult isnt so bad. I mean yeah bills are bad, jobs can suck, and getting older past like the age of 30-40 (if you're taking care of yourself if not then past 20 or so) starts to hurt like a bitch. But would you honestly rather be a kid your entire life? Never knowing independence? Would you really have never had your own family? Your own kids? Would you always want to be going to school day in and day out litteraly doing work for nothing of value out of it? And hey what about retirement? Your job is over, you have a stable income, your kids have moved out (which might not be a positive depending on who you are but more privacy is always nice) I get your point, kids have a big dreamy idea of what adults are and it can be annoying to hear "but you can do whatever you want" ten times a day. But honestly, being adult has some serious positives over being a kid.

I’m relatively young but have had the inevitable beatdown experience of the adult world. I can guarantee that not having the things I wanted as a kid made this journey 10x easier. When I see parents not letting a shred of real life pain enter their grown child’s life, I see it as an injustice to the eventual reality their letting their kids face.

Yeah I’m 18 and woefully unprepared for being an adult. My mom pretty much acts like a teenager and my dad lets us do whatever we want. Its pretty hard to discover what you wanna do and be when you grow up like that. I used to have ambition. I used to have dreams and lofty goals I was on track to achieve. Then I did a little bit of a dual credit college program, got depressed, dropped out, am back in high school for my senior year, and dont know what to do with myself even a little bit. The only thing I’m looking forward to is marriage.

@@ava4689Please find a good mentor you look up to (on line, in a book or rl) and get a little bit of therapy if you can afford it. You tube also has resources if not. I wish I could have had these things at 18. My mum and dad sound similar to yours. I ended up depressed 😔 and then I ended up in an abusive relationship because I couldn't recognize the red flags or even what a healthy relationship looked like. Please please please seek out what a healthy relationship looks like before you get into one yourself. And keep that picture in your mind. And no grifter stuff either! Your parents influence your choices at 18 more than you realize so open you mind to some healthy experiences it will set you up for the rest of your life! From an internet mother.

This video hits so hard because it is so true. Being an adult is so daunting and crushing between all the nonstop bills and responsibilities. Doesn't help that the economy is so bad right now and nothing is affordable. The healthcare system is also flawed on so many levels. It's really nice to have family that I can lean on because otherwise I feel like I'd be homeless or dead. I think it's so tragic how so many people are working multiple jobs just to barely afford to live.

Adulthood is awesome compared to childhood and I've actually enjoyed living for some time now. Yeah it's stressful- but I have tools now. I have the means to manage my stress so much better. In childhood, I was expected to manage things adults struggle with and had to do it over and over, while told I'm whining and should be grateful. I had major depression since 7. I wanted to drown myself in the school bathroom in 2nd grade. I stood on bridges and regretted being too scared to jump. You couldn't pay me enough to go back to being a kid. It was hell. A job is nowhere near that hell.

I agree, but that smooth transition does have its drawbacks. You’ll leave the military with bad joints and, for some people, terrible mental health. But hey, maybe if you’re lucky, you can get the VA to pay you for all that 😅

You see, you have to devote 130% of *all* non-working time to this "Family" otherwise these people will resent and abandon you leaving you with... a horrifying death

I think most adults thinking that their life is harder now don’t remember their childhood correctly. Sure, you have bills, but how much allowance money did you have as a child? Something like 20 to 50 bucks a month or so? And how much do you have left now after paying the essential stuff like food, rent, etc.? Right, a lot more. And where were you living as a child? In just one room that you maybe even had to share with a sibling? Even the small apartment you live in now has a lot more space than your old children’s room. And how much free time did you have? Anyone else remembering how you had a full workday worth of school only to come home to like two more hours of homework?

As an adult in India, I'm about to blow your mind! It doesn't really matter if we turn 18 or 19 or 25. Our parents still pay for everything we have. And even pay for our wants and expenses. Until we get a job AFTER college. And most of them dont even appreciate it enough! I just feel so bad and guilty to spend the money they give me.

Says a lot about how shit adult hood really is when people are willingly putting themselves in extreme debt just to avoid the stress of adult hood for another 4 years. That being said, as a 19 year old who’s living with his mom, working at McDonald’s to earn just a bit of money and has just finished high school. This shit hits hard. I didn’t plan on going to college, my plan was to just go straight into Air Force and while I’m unlisted I’ve yet to be given a proper ship date. Kinda wish I did plan for college now because at the very least I wouldn’t feel like a bum.

Who said life WOULD be easy straight out of Highschool? How to make your life better; Step 1: don’t get married or a partner cause it’s a waste of time, energy, and money Step 2: it’s recommended to get some sort of college degree, but don’t get loans. Always try to apply for scholarships (for those who live in New York, try to get into nursing since there’s a huge deficit right now and the government is willing to pay you to become a nurse 👍🏻 Step 3: don’t do dumb things like drugs or gambling
