Hey buddy, this film has everything and as always with your films, I couldn't wait to get into it this morning. It's such a pitty that I will have to watch it again with Ruth later :-). Every image in the film was spectacular but I particularly loved the fist two, as I am more a fan of the unseen rather than common scene, especially where there are hoards of folk to shoot with. That said, your last shot on the boulders had a very mysterious quality about it, which I loved! I imagined the figures as though they were ghosts playing on the boulders, long after humans had been wiped from the earth. I did note the girl standing behind you at Wanaka in the black shorts and pink T-shirt whist you stood there in down jacket and bob hat...toughen up man :-D 17:13 of pure entertainment!

Thanks Simon - thats nice to know that you are hanging out to watch MY videos!? = / (Humbled)! Yeah the first two, complete surprises and unknown prior to seeing them, but worth the trek. I quite like the boulders shot too, theres lots of mood in there as well as Rock detail, which again turned out much better than i thought it would. It puts the lunacy of being kicked off the beach in my earlier vid into perspective. The girl in the shorts.... yes - I saw her too when i was putting this similarily complex timeline together and thought OMG - she must have been frozen, as it wasnt warm. (I was pretty tired though - 3 - 4 days of sunrises and sunsets does that as well as all that driving). I do need to toughen up though! Check the dancing people on the back ground at the tree the next time you watch it. Thats a first for me! PS - Sorry about the 'Simon Booth-ism' at 3:07 = ) Regards Ewan

Came here after Simon Booth mentioned one of your videos, looks like I'm going to be binge watching as I like your style and method of passing on info. I really liked your resulting image from Moeraki, I was there 16 years ago and only had about 1/2 dozen others to contend with, found myself photographing the broken boulders as they were a little different to all the spheres. Cheers

HI there - many thanks and also to Simon Booth, who has been very kind to me and this channel with his support over the last year or so. I quite like the image from Moeraki too, as it was making a point in some way, that everyone can co exist on a busy location and still get a shot. (I refer my vlog of being bullied off of a beach - LOL). I hope you enjoy all the videos = ) many thanks for having a look and your kind comments. Regards, Ewan

@@EwanDunsmuirImages About 6 hours of binge wathching done so far, you're gonna need to post more videos for me... I saw the bullied video, think I would've been tempted to go for the you snooze you lose I was here first point of view. But, who knows? I once moved for someone when there was really unusual evening light at Burnham Beeches because he wanted to make a pano. I already had a pano in the bag, but I think my view was biased because I taught photography at the time and felt consideration for other photographers counts. Though after I moved for him it might of been nice if he didn't continue to hog the location and block my options. Ah well. All the best, you've got me thinking about longer exposures and light movement. Cheers.

Loving all of the hidden gems gained from experience, like your comment how the light levels double every 45 seconds as the sun nears sunrise. Have you ever thought about writing an e-book with these kinds of tips? Just a thought.... Once again, keep up the great work :)
@EwanDunsmuirImages5 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike - Thanks for the comment mate. The light double at that rate (being approximate) as its on a curve rather than a straight line graph, but its near enough when you are trying to calculate the maths - its complicated right? I didnt even know whther to out that in there! LOL. I have thought about doing several books to be honest but im thinkning that the channel is trying to be that very thing - but an e book isnt a bad idea. Its 'time' thats the issue im afraid! Thanks Ewan, it would be great to catch up if possible, definitely! I'll be spending a week in Auckland for work before heading to Queenstown for a couple of nights on the 21st Oct. Then the plan is to head to Te Anau/Milford Sound, back up to Mount Cook and finish up in Christchurch by the 31st. If there is any overlap it would be really great to meet you! I had planned to stop off in Wanaka for a couple of nights but sadly the time restraints meant I decided to prioritise Mount Cook. Perhaps I will stop there on the way past though, it does look like a stunning place to shoot! S.

Working my way through your VLOGS, fantastic to find your work. I love NZ and I have been there 6-8 times (South island) and 1 time to the north. I never tire of the mostly quiet places except for the over exposed photography locations such as the WANAKA TREE. I got my first shot there in 2013 on a tour with Glenn McKimmin. IT is difficult to cope sometimes with the INSTAGRAM set but as you said, they have just as much right as I do. I have been a follower of Thomas Heaton in the UK for several years, there are similarities between your approach. Loved the shot of what I think was Lindis Pass (love that location) Love your images and VLOG style. Cheers :)

Yeah, these were tourists... but it was around lunch time. Its a really busy spot and high up there on the to do list in NZ, hence the numbers. Hi Noeline. Thanks for your comment and feedback. The hill that i climbed here is on the other side of the road from the viewing platform.
