+St. Isidore's Farm thank you for watching. This has been one of my favorite series so far. I would say the building is somewhere between 50 and 75% done

I was particularly interested in the video to learn about the sub panel hook-ups so I was a bit disappointed that you didn't show that. Oh well!!

Yes that is one thing that should be taught by a professional.

@@LandtoHouse as much as im loving your series and the way you build your shed i agree on that tip about a pro. Nice job im learning tons to build MY way not the way the keyboard pros say how it'a supossed to be done.

Thank you for the positive feedback. Electrical and plumbing are definitely things for trained professionals. I wanted to skip showing the panel because I would likely teach someone wrong.

Thanks for the little tip at the end about putting a metal plate where your studs have a wire passing through, to prevent nailing or screwing into them later.
@LandtoHouse5 жыл бұрын
Those can come in handy when you forget about the wire location.

if you look at the area where you put in the screws on the can lights, there is a tab sticking up between the holes for your screws. that is a temporary nail, i guess you could call it. it is used for placing the lights temporarily up till you can screw them up. they also have them on the joist hangers.
@LandtoHouse8 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed. I gave that a try on the first one and realized that the false rafters that I installed (for lack of better term) are to weak to allow the hammer to do its job. I had to move right to the drill. Now on the joist holders I was able to use those tabs some as they were intended.

I’m thinking about trying to wire up a shed I have. Why did you use 15amp inside instead of 20 or 30amp? And why did you use 14/2 wire? What was the last wire used ? Just trying to learn deeper on why you used the material and what difference it makes. Thanks for the great video
@LandtoHouse4 жыл бұрын
I need to start by saying I am no pro. The 14/2 is for the led lighting. The 12/2 wire is for the outlets. The tools in my shed dont exceed 15 amps. It's just a safety thing. Also I think I would have had to step up the wire going from the house to the shed.
@eazzzye20036 жыл бұрын
Curious as to why you used 12/2 for the outlets if they were just going to be 15A circuits. Unless you planned on upgrading the service to 20A, you could've just went 14/2 throughout, especially since the outlets were 15A, also. Be mindful that if you DID upgrade to 20A, every outlet would need to be swapped out.

You can use 15 amp outlets on a 20 amp circuit.

Since this is a sub panel, what is the reasoning for installing a breaker for the power coming into the panel when you will have a breaker in the main panel of the house to feed this panel. I am assuming this is just so you have a way to cut the power to the shop.
@LandtoHouse8 жыл бұрын
+kuhrd you got it. That way I have a main switch in the shop that will cut off all power. Running the two wires to the lugs on the sub panel would effectively be the same you would just have to turn off every breaker individually.

Wire clamps are upside down in the main you can not bundle wire in a wire clamp !, you needed to have put a clamp at every entry point into the box also it is illlegal to back feed a panel with mail lugs

We're installing 4' LED shop lights in our woodworking shop and we are REALLY happy with them. They are very bright, good color (not blue or yellow), and energy efficient. The nice thing about recessed cans though, is that the bulb is protected.

you did all this work without adding 240V outlets, no shop is a shop without 240V.

So far I have not found any tools that require that. I guess I'm a small-time shop user

@@LandtoHouse you might not need one now but if you do woodworking or metal working you will regret not adding at least one..
