Not sure about this, but I think I read that if you learn like 10 or 12 of the most spoken languages you can speak to half the world's popuplation. I dont even think they even took into account people who speak a second language so it could be even more. Still, 3.7 billion ain't half-bad.

Just wanna say laoushu you and your friends are honestly badass. You guys and a couple of other polyglots on KZbin have inspired me to start speaking my ancestors tongue Arabic. (My mother and father are both Lebanese) I’ve also picked up French and Japanese and when I’ve gotten fluent enough in those I hope to learn some Chinese, Vietnamese, and Italian. The beautiful thing about language is you never really stop because there is always shit to learn and your videos have really inspired me to keep going and study and practice with people as much as I can. It’s actually the first thing u wanna do when learning a new language, first learn words n sentences that you would always use when talking just to get a good understanding of how to string words together in that language, it took me around 3-4 months to learn english and speak it fluently and this is exactly what i did.

It doesn't really mean "brother of your mother".In Asia we don't call older person by her/his name. It's not polite. I'm an Indonesian, we also use "Pak" (sir), "Om" (uncle), Bu (mam), Tante (aunty) if we wanna talk to someone older, whether they really our family or just someone random on the street.

I think what your doing is important across all cultures. It shows we are all one and have the ability to break any barrier with being able to communicate thru native tongues, I literally binge watch your videos.

It's always a joy when I come across a video I hadn't already watched ten times over. This one is amazing with the whole family together. I speak several languages now and a big part of that was working up the courage to approach people and just talk to them. I can confidently say I wouldn't be anywhere near calling myself a polyglot had it not been for Laoshu's influence. RIP, king.
