I think it’s nice that you read aloud to you’d kids. One of my favorite memories from childhood is all of us kids and cousins piling in the recliner with my mom while she read to us. I remember her reading where the red fern grows and all of us crying. Dad got home and asked who died.

In culinary arts school and serve safe class, we were taught soups and broths must be set in a sink with ice water to cool down the soup fast before putting it in the fridge. The center of the soup with not doing it this way can take too long to cool and things can grow in it. (I don’t follow this for my family stuff, I figure the things “growing” around us is what we are used to, but something to consider to avoid the heating of the fridge in the future)

I’ll chime in on the “not pre washing dishes” thing It also helps if your dish washer has the “chopper blades” to disintegrate food particles. Most of the cheaper ones don’t have them. So it just creates buildup in the filters and they stop washing efficiently

Yes the dishwasher must be a good one, and designed for this . I just scrape and throw in, if I have to prewash then I will just hand wash. Good luck with this new shortcut!!!!

I scrub all my dishes before ever putting in a dishwasher. My mom was the kind that left in in the sink to get crusty and I was the kid that had to clean it so now I clean it really well before it ever gets dishwashed. Just a habit now and I will never break it. I am pretty happy with how I do dishes. Big pots get handwashed in the hottest soapy water I can muster up and then dried immediately.

If you add some apple cider vinegar into your bone broth water, it will help pull all of the nutrients out of the bones. You won't taste it at all. I add onions, celery, herbs, and a couple of bay leaves, also. (The carrots scraps, too.) It turns out SO delicious! All of your meals looked good!

When my husband and I first married my Father-in-law was Manager of Shop Operations Bldg 3 (dishwashers) General Electric. We had them over for dinner and I was cleaning the kitchen and pre washing my dishes for the dishwasher. He had a fit. You don’t need to pre wash. Put those dirty dishes in the dishwasher. 😂😂😂 almost 50 years later I haven’t pre washed dishes for the dishwasher. He told me that during one of their tests they put an entire cake in the dishwasher and the dishes came out clean.
@kellybroady6378
@kellybroady6378 2 жыл бұрын
Oh wow! I always thought you didn't "need" to prewash, but that over time it kind of lessens the dishwashers efficacy if you left all kinds of chunks on the dishes. We wash the dishes with dawn soap, then put them in the dishwasher, which makes it more like a sanitizer than a washer. We have had the same one for 20 years and it works incredibly well. Maybe we just got a nice dishwasher and it wasn't the pre wash this whole time.

We rinse off our dishes after they are cleaned off in the trash can. I can't stand dried food on dishes if we are only running it in the evening. Also, make sure you run your hot water prior to turning on the dishwasher. It limits the time it takes for the dishwasher to heat up and most call for it to.

Oh yes you do have to rinse ur dishes, if u want your dishwasher to last. My brother in law was a maintenance man in a apartment building. A lot of ppl would leave food on their dishes and the dishwashers were destroyed and they will start stinking from all the food in the filter. The person you want to ask, is someone who works on dishwashers. My dad taught me how to peel an orange with a spoon. Great video

I've got to chime in again about the dishwasher debacle. I use Equate, Member's Mark (Sam's Club,) or Kirkland (Costco) brand dishwasher tabs if they are available & my dishes still come out clean. I know you're a money saving mama, too, so when you run out give one of the off brands a try. I'll think you'll be pleasantly surprised 😉. The only thing different I've noticed when I have to buy Finish or Cascade brand is that I don't have as many water spots. I don't have that many to begin with & that kind of thing doesn't bother me anyway.
@JennyWinters
@JennyWinters 2 жыл бұрын
I was just using generic dishwashing tablets , but I was finding my dishes were not getting super clean so I went to Finish and it has made a huge difference in how the dishes come out and I scrub my dishes of any particles before I ever put them in the dishwasher so I think precleaning helps. When I boil eggs in the AM, I just let the saucepans soak in DAWN and then clean out with a scrub brush and let drain on a towel on the countertop. If it is any bit questionable with broken eggs mid-boiling, I will put those thru the dishwasher after scrubbing, but then again I am an RN and I am germ-aware of what could be issues. I am after my counter tops twice daily with Lysol and any groceries brought into the home gets a Lysol wet wipe before putting up and this is YES... March of 2022 and I protect those folks that are vulnerable in my home to Covid. I do extra careful issues during this pandemic. I wear a mask, I am vaccinated x3 and I still will self distance from people I consider absolutely insane when trying to go about business in a pandemic, but you got to consider I live in a RED state and they are all crazy.

We own a plumbing company & before you spend the money on a plumber ask Travis to take a plunger to the sink. Some hardware stores sell special plungers for sinks but it is basically the same thing just shorter. I can't tell you how many times that simple tip will unstop a sink. 😉 Some other things Travis could try: 1. Pour 1/2 gallon boiling water down the sink 2. Check the p-trap 3. Get the water out of that side of the sink with a cup. Pour baking soda down the drain & use something to push it all down into the drain. Pour 1 cup of vinegar down the drain. Place a stopper over the drain & let it sit for 15 mins. Try to flush with hot water afterwards. 4. Create a plumbers snake with a wire coat hanger. Keep the hook on the end so it can grab any debris down in the sink. Hopefully one of these things help 😉❤️

I have used dish washers for years. Originally we didn't rinse dishes before loading them. I believe the machines were built better back then. I have also used professional dish washers in my day and we still rinsed the dishes before loading them. I believe that not rinsing dishes causes damage and wear to most dish washers. I agree that dishes will usually get clean either way but I just feel better rinsing first. Basically a dish washer's main purpose is to sanitize dishes by using hotter water than we could by hand washing them.

Vinegar and bicarb together is what I was told to do. Wait and see if water will empty. Then try and get a heap of bicarb down sink hole. Then pour vinegar in so reaction happens in pipe. Good luck and God bless.

The door that you’re going to replace, is there some place you can use it “ as is” to remind you of your new kitchen remodel ?? Or use it as a table somewhere ??

If you're on a septic tank it's best to make sure all food is well scraped off. Our neighbor never rinsed their dishes and ended up with a mess and an expensive plumbing bill.

My uncle who was a plumber taught me how to unblock a sink. A bucket of boiling water and a bucket of cold. Poor boiling water into the sink. This begins softening the blocked goop. As the water starts to move down follow it with the cold water full bucket. The cold water acts like a flood of pressure which pushes the block all the way down and gone. Always successful for me.

Jamerrill, I have to tell you, I came back from all kinds of (white & brown) sugar replacements. Especially the white sugar. Most of them have warnings on them saying if you consume too much (and again, what is too much especially in a cookie recipe) that it can have a laxative effect on you. And... for sure! So regular old sugar it is, at least you don't get issues like that from using what's age-old and tried & tested well beyond belief.

You say mama work, I say single lady work. You say mama bowl, I say single lady’s bowl hahaha! I like watching your videos. Also, I just went through a clogged sink. My guy had to snake it 3 times and went about 25 feet before he got it unclogged. Good luck with that.

Please allow me to be so bold as to suggest a "farm scene mural" for the backing of your new cook stove? It will certainly add the color splash you were unable to get with the stove itself. Thank you for sharing!

I have used Aldi dishwasher tablets for many years now, no problems. My booklet that came with my dishwasher, told me not to rinse dishes before putting into dishwasher, as not necessary, the cleaner attaches to the food particles and washes them off.

One of my bugbears is seeing American people washing their dishes BEFORE putting them in the dishwashers. In the UK we have been told for over 20 years, you do not have to wash your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, its even in the instructions for the dishwasher. We use COSTCO own brand dishwasher tablets, does exactly the same as the Finish brand, oven trays with baked on food, straight in the dishwasher, dirty plates, cat food bowls, pans and absolutely everything, straight in the dishwasher, and nothing comes back dirty.

Rinse them, if food goes in, it can clog the filters in the dishwasher and start flinging food particles and leaving it on the cups and bowls 'n' such eventually.
