Large Family Meals for When Life is Crazy

Oh boy, friends! We're cooking up large family meals including using our home canned food for easy recipes from scratch, making big batch meals, and using the slow cookers, Instant Pot, and stovetop too! We also have many real-life adventures including a power outage, birthday party, homeschool group, and finishing up the new main bathroom 💃!! I hope you enjoy this large family meals of the week where we make homemade beef stroganoff in the slow cooker with homemade mashed potatoes. You and I also cook up homemade mushroom soup from scratch and without butter. There was a house that burnt in our town. Start of the fire was airfryer some how electric surged back thru it. We have started unplugging our electrical kitchen items like the airfryer. My parents had a toaster oven that they didn't even use on while they were sleeping melted the popcorn pop that was sitting on top of it thank God the smoke alarm woke them up. Loved y9ur videos. I have a 17 inch cast iron pan from walmart- not lodge and it is heavy duty. I just looked the price up, I paid 15.98. I love that pan. Nice quality. Nice and large. We are a family of 5 on a routine basis. Even though lodge is nice, this pan is great. Does everything it needs to do for under 16.00. Yeah Me!

When I make French toast at home here in Australia I usually do a dozen eggs and half a cup of milk with a pinch of salt and pepper for savoury and sweet I add vanilla and powder sugar instead of pepper. I like to let the bread absorb the egg mixture for a few seconds longer than you do. It’s good tucker for any meal or just a snack.

I don't know if you read these or not. But we use pate with our kitten that can't swallow anything solid. We put the pate in a bowl, depending how juicy it is we add a bit of water and puree with an immersion blender... works wonderfully

Potatoes were too wet. Probably absorbed a lot when canned. Drain off liquid before mashing next time. And use a masher not an electric mixer.

I have a “hero cookbook” that I used when my daughter was young. I also used it for my granddaughter. There’s a recipe in there for “invisible banana French toast”. All you do is mash up some bananas and then add your eggs, etc. make your French toast same as usual. It’s yummy!!

Jamerrill did you can Yukon Gold potatoes? We canned white and after 2 yrs are still white and good. I love to have food canned and ready to put together. All that hard work is worth it. Love the vanity! We got a really nice one with marble counter top from Costco! Nicest vanity I've ever had too. Lol my requirements was does it store more than old one. I love that it had shelves in cabinets under sink instead of a big open cabinet to loose everything in.

Our power was out from 7:30 till 3:30 last week. That meant no gas stove to cook, No water (we have well water) and no heat just as a big snow storm hit us. It snowed heavy for two days. We live in county property so the town doesn't plow our street until they are done with town streets. Our wonderful neighbor got his Kaboda out and plowed our street. I made him cookies and muffins to say thank you. The kids gave him some cash to go to dinner. When our power goes out it messes up our cable for our TV, too.

I do regular potatoes in my crock pot. It's my fav way to do potatoes. I imagine the sweet potatoes are similar, toss them in just a tiny bit of oil, any kind, set to high and they need to cook anywhere from 8 to 10 hours.

Canning is a great skill, but using the items and finding out what the family likes is huge. For example, in my house no one likes green beans canned and I should not of been surprised by this because they don't like them canned from a store . Love your content wish you and your family well 🥂
