Not surprised no sirens went off. The sirens go off when they can see the tornado and this one was at night. They really need to sound them if there’s a very strong radar indication, like a clear hook echo and debris returns.

Is it just me or were there not any warning sirens going off during any of this event...
@gsdalpha13586 ай бұрын
Outside of towns, there aren't tornado sirens. At least, not in my part of Indiana. My parents had a weather warning radio which would sound an alarm. We live near a tornado siren now, but we really, really watch weather news this time of year, have Code Red on our phones - and if potential is high - we listen to our police scanner.There are certified weather watchers in the county who notify the police of possible rotation or severe weather. Police dispatchers then send an alert "attention all home monitors" and pass along the info. And we pay attention to the cloud movements if it's daylight. We've been through three tornados, luckily the worst damage was to our roof. You bet the first thing on my list when we bought our home was *basement*.
@-vincit--veritas-55886 ай бұрын
Well interestingly here in rural northern Michigan our county has multiple loud sirens thru out the county and test them multiple times a year. Even on the townships website they give what the different types of siren sounds indicate for many different emergencies, along with local fire and central dispatch call outs on scanner frequencies. Then again cell service here is sub par and not everyone is near a TV, radio or signal capable cellular service around here. So yep those sirens are useful.
