Hi Steve, Mike from Fablab Stoughton Wisconsin again. Very nice review. I love following your channel. Keep up the good work. This laser has some really cool features as you pointed out. we are keeping our eye on. For me, I can’t wait for more power so it can cut as well as engrave. The folks that complain about the price should look at what a CO2 laser like our Epilog or Trotec cost. They start a $15K . We paid $30k for our 40”x28” 75watt Epilog. If I was a CO2 laser manufacturer I might be a bit worried that the technology you just presented could be disruptive. Just saying 😃

Hi Mike. Good to hear from you again! Yes CO2 lasers can kill your wallet, though I built my DIY for a bit over $4K and I have no regrets. I do see more and more convergence between what diode lasers can do an what a typical 40w CO2 laser can do and I believe that 40W lasers are going to disappear because a 20W or someday 30W diode laser will kill them on price. On the LaserPecker, you can cut thinner materials today, and even if/when there is a 10 or 20W version, I probably still wouldn’t cut with it though. This laser is a natural engraving wiz.

I have to agree, the LP range, not only the LP2 is awesome and not only aesthetically, but demonstrates the professionalism Laserpecker have put into the amount of research and development of their entire range of laser engravers. I own an LP1 pro and LP 2, and I'd have no hesitation in recommending the LP1 for light engraving on softer materials and textiles, but would recommend the LP2 for when 5w of clean precise power is required. I would at this point suggest holding back on buying a new Laserpecker until their LP4 has been released and gone through it's paces. The biggest let-down to date (in my opinion) is the lack of attention to functionality in their windows based software, it's unstable at best and likes to randomly disconnect from the LP2, even on a USB connection. The hardware is amazing, the software on all platforms needs works, but the most amazing aspect of the LP range, is it's portability because you can power all of them on a powerbank.

Any tools that provide their own software seem to create a weak link by doing so. The LP software is better than most but I just wish everyone would standardize on things like Lightburn

I Bought the Laser Pecker 3 to engrave onto metals. Currently I need to engrave onto a Zinc Alloy with Electroplated Coating. The Laser Pecker does not come with a manual, do you know how I can get a back finish on the engraving? Do I need to use Brilliance Spray or Cermark to achieve a black finish? I am completely new to laser engraving.

For metals other than stainless steel you would need some sort of treatment. The question would remain if the engraving of the treated surface would be permanent or not

I love mine. I bought it so that I could easily take it outside or in the garage to engrave stuff like leather that stinks. My wife was upset about some of the engraving smells. I now also use it to always engrave smaller items. It's faster, uses less power, and less setup than my Muse. The one downside is the quirky made in China software. Not even close to the quality of other laser software.

The software is an interesting user experience but not terrible. This laser is by far the easiest connection experience of any diode laser though. It just works. Definitely the best feature of this laser is that pickup-and-go capability. In seconds you can be engraving on just about anything anywhere.

No, diode laser won’t touch either of these. The LaserPecker 4 offers dual diode and IR lasers so it will engrave metals. Also xTool is getting ready to release the F1 fiber laser and I hope to review it on the channel in the coming weeks

Engraving white tile is possibly with some minor surface prep. Search on KZbin and you’ll find a few video dedicated to this. However keep in mind that this is a 5W laser so it probably isn’t the best tool for this purpose

Since this is a diode laser, you would have to provide some sort of treatment to the glass in order to engrave. Try Praang Tempera paint (amzn.to/3YZ7Lbz). This is what I use.
