Don't be bashful about using modern conveniences up to and including watching a movie on an iPad. Camping isn't meant to be an exercise in suffering, nor is it meant to be an absolute minimalist experience ... otherwise, you wouldn't be using any of that other gear, either. I love how you blend all of the modern gear into an outdoor experience. Very cool.

He explains in another video that camping is the only time he gets to watch a movie.
@67L485 жыл бұрын
@@GamerNxUSN He actually said that in this video, too. He also mentioned that some so-called purists give him a hard time for watching movies. Similar senitments are shared on camping forums. I was simply supporting him. No shame in popping in a movie and enjoying a little tech in the outdoors.
@mattlewandowski734 жыл бұрын
When it all comes down to it, camping is camping. It does not matter if you are staying at the cabin on the lake, or sleeping under the stars with only an optional tarp in case the weather turns on you. Camping takes every imaginable form from "I am going out into the woods with only a knife and a loin cloth" to "this is my luxury 5th wheel" it is about being able to go someplace other than home, and enjoy the outdoors... Realistically, overlanding is auto camping... a practice ALMOST as old as automobiles and realistically directly descended from pioneer explorers in canoes and wagon trains. We are not by default backpackers. We bring with us be default an electrical system and at very least audio equipment. Haters be damned :)

I can't remember if this made it into your pro/con analysis of rack-mounted tents back in that video ... but winter camping is a pro. Getting up off the snow is a big plus. I'd consider a hunter orange hat and a hunter orange vest for your dog if you're winter camping on public lands during hunting seasons. Your dog is big enough, tan, and roams a bit when you're setting up camp. An orange dog vest would be in my gear bag, if I were you.

Yeah, not bad advice at all. I have a flashing collar I'll put on him sometimes if I feel it's an area that he might want to roam a little more - but I should probably be more diligent about this.
