Measure your plot size and amount of seed you use. You can set your spreader a little tighter so you just have to go over it more to use up your seed. Then spread your seed out in both directions like a checker board that will give your more consistency

Wow, I actually agreed with everything you presented except for planting over the greens with later grains. Ive played around with no till, but come to a belief that my soil has to be worked. after a rain it makes a shell that becomes hard and tossing seed on it just doesn’t seem to work very well. Most gets washed into bands at low points. My experiences here in coastal SC have always been at odds with you but,like you, I change it up every year. My local fall blends run 60% cereal grains, and I cut that in half with a pure winter greens blend that runs me $185 a 40-lb bag. There is no such thing as a poor man’s food plot.

Well, good luck to everyone this season. My season looks to be a total loss. After no rain once again after three days straight of a forecasted 90 percent chance of at least one inch of rain, and no rain insight for the next two weeks, I'm now out of time to plant brassicas and greens. I may have a chance to plant winter rye, but with the first frost usually by October 1 and first freeze by October 15, I'm just out of time. My season is over before it even starts. I'm not going to hunt my property to just hunt. Without the food plots, my entire parcel plan is obliterated. I'll take my vacation days and use them to keep improving my property by creating more bedding areas, travel corridors, two additional plots and more regeneration areas. For everyone here who had the rain you needed for your plots, be thankful. Many of us out here have really struggled. I have put in at least two hundred hours of work since January preparing for this season. I guess I could hunt public land, but it makes more sense to me to take the little time I do have off from work to use it to improve my property for next season. Thank you Jeff for all the amazing content you put out. I implemented ALL of it since January and was so excited for it all to come together this fall. Mother Nature just didn't do her part. I've taken a major gut punch, but I'll keep working to improve my property, and hopefully next year will bring rain and better results. I hope everyone has a great season this fall!!

I didn't start up my no-till food plots yet and I'm probably not going to be able to until September 18th after waiting a week for the glyphosate to do its job. Is this too late into the season to plant? Also I don't know for sure if we're going to get heavy rain like this after I plant. I was told in anothe no-till food plot video that I need a heavy rain to help wash the bigger seeds down in the soil, but since I don't know when the next heavy rain will come can I just manually shuffle them down to the soil?

Jeff I bought an EWay 2750. Planted my Buckwheat with it on June 24. Noticed that the seed came out heavily on the left 90 degree sector and got almost no seed spraying out in the right 90 degree sector. I ended up with Buckwheat stripes. I looked at the opening in the bottom of the hopper and the opening is not symmetrical. I contacted Earthway, described my problem to them and they kindly sent me a new EW 2750. I examined it and it has exactly the same asymmetrical seed opening. My question is, do you not experience the exact same problem with your 2750's? I bought this based on your review and I can't believe that someone as meticulous as you re: foodplots would use a seeder that spreads so poorly. Any thoughts?
@JBesq2 жыл бұрын
I had the same issue. First I found that adding a washer to the stop screw helped keep the lever from moving over and closing the seeder unexpectedly. Second I had some rows but for ,e I think it was my walking pace and speed of turning the handle. The more I seeded the more I evened out my pace and turn as well as a slight side to side movement of the seeder across my body. I used about twice as much buckwheat as was recommended but this was the first attempt. Buckwheat came up with a few stripes and not as tall and perfect like WHS videos but it wasn’t too bad. On the green seeding I had someone with me to monitor if and how much the seed was coming out and that helped a ton. Good luck.
@botnotsmith18122 жыл бұрын
I've just decided to stop using the earthway and find something different that doesn't present any issues. I don't feel like I should have to swing from side to side or be overly concerned about finding the right pace in order to get a good spread pattern. A friend has a SOLO and it works great so I'll pry buy that. I still don't understand how JS can use the 2750 and not have the same problem I have. I have seen him swaying from side to side in some of his videos while seeding but you simply should not have to do that.
