There are videos on how to solder wires and butane soldering irons are affordable. I used to suck at soldering but it's an absolutely valuable skill to learn and free. Your installs will be so much cleaner AND reliable without butt splices which are more difficult to fit in wire looms when several exist in the same area. That being said, this is still a great walk-thru on how to get this upgrade installed and big thanks to LMR for putting these out.

I just finished this set up and I would like to add a few things to help your install go a little smoother. #1) The "Y" block for the sending unit does not come with the kit. Order this separately OR just run up to them hardware store and with about 10$ worth of brass fitting you can build your own "F" set up that looks a little more factory, either works fine. #2) The white wires that go to the high and low work as a ground, do not attach these to a 12v+ on your own if you are following this set up. #3) The high and low on a two fan set up has nothing to do with the actual speed of the fans. Low is one fan at a time, high is both fans at a time. #4) On the set up instructions, go through the motions once or twice as a practice run then actually set up the controller. Sounds funny but the instructions are a little confusing first time reading them. #5) On the Snd section (means sender) choose "no" if you are only going to be using the sender that came with the kit along with your factory in dash gauge. #6) Rule of thumb is to have fans come on about 10* above your thermostat. Example, 180 thermostat, fans come on at 190* for low, 200* for high.#Last) I am running a Megasquirt programmable computer on my car and the digital read out for the temp is 10 to 12 degrees higher than what the new controller is showing. You can either solder in a resister to adjust temp (1 ohm per degree) or the easier thing to do (which is what I did) was just adjust where your fans come on and off at taking in to account the temp difference. Example, if I was wanting the fans to come on at 200* I set the controller box to have them come on at 190*. Everything works and the fans run and stop according to the temps my ECU is seeing. Hope this helps!

It would be ideal to have a list of fuses and relays that are not included in the kits you sell. It saves the head ace of stopping everything your doing and going to the auto parts store

The CFM rating is approximately 3,500 CFM Output and for the on/off temp, you can set it as needed. We mentioned in the video that you can start with the lowest setting and then adjust to what you prefer.

On temp should be about 10 degrees above your thermostat rating. Ex 180 stat = 190 on temp

If so I actually did and this didn't work with the temp sensor (wasn't picking up temps correctly), when I called dakota digital they told me not to use it lol, so I just tapped a hole in the Thermostat housing. Now I have a $40 Y block just sitting in my garage.

@@zarmelad3475 yes, I ordered one and paid extra shipping to get it time to go racing. FedEx screwed me so I went and built my own using brass fittings (actually looks better than the Y block) but according to my troubleshooting guide it is not reading the sender at all? Fans stay on all the time as a default. Sent Dakota an email this morning and waiting to hear back from them. I think I should just T into the factory sending unit?

@@justinlogue31 Not sure on that one man. I have a feeling that wouldn't work, but I'm not really knowledgeable when it comes to wiring. Call Dakota Digital, they were very helpful over the phone with me. Basically the temp sensor needs to be touching liquid, I put mine into the top of the thermostat housing so when ever it opens up it starts reading. Has been working well for me for the past few months. -When I first had an issue with mine the dakota digital thermostat was working but the temps displayed were way lower then actual so it wasn't kicking on the fans. If your not reading any temp on the bluetooth app I'd take another look at the wiring into the unit again.

Having issues installing temp sensor. The block fits, but not enough room for stock temp sensor and Dakota sensor. Can I just install on thermostat housing? I have one that would allow me to do so.

To bad lmr sells the pigtails separate and I didn’t notice that until my fans came. complete garbage that the pigtails don’t come with the fan you have to order a 140 brackets to get the pigtails really disappointing lmr terrible marketing scam to make people buy the brackets they don’t even need

he used the crimpers wrong the entire video, you dont crush them flat you put them under the hump part and the bump pushes in a point to actually crimp it, those crimps were total trash.
