What’s up, #STSNation!
Welcome to Surviving The Survivor, the podcast that brings you the very #BestGuests in all of #TrueCrime.
Newly released police interrogation footage reveals intense questioning of Jennifer Soto and her boyfriend, Stephan Sterns, as investigators pressed for answers in the disappearance and murder of 13-year-old Madeline Soto. Sterns, who initially claimed he dropped Maddie Soto off at school, was confronted with damning evidence-her backpack found in the trash. When authorities arrested him, they also charged him with capital sexual battery and possession of child pornography. The state is now seeking the death penalty for Sterns.
Meanwhile, investigators grilled Madeline’s mother, Jennifer Soto, about her possible knowledge of the years of alleged abuse. Did she truly have no idea, or was she protecting a predator?
We break down the chilling new details with two of the best in the business and get their expert analysis on what the interviews tell us about Madeline Soto, what happened to her--and whether or not Maddie's mom knew more than she lead on.

Hello STS, I'm sorry to tell that I'm very disappointed with tonight's show. (The interview has been out for over 4 months, not that "recent "...), but, the frustrating part was the failing of informing the guests (and listeners who hadn't heard the interview before) of the context and purpose of the interview! If, especially Fil, had known, the whole discussion would've been a completely other one! >The SOLE PURPOSE with that interview, which was given under immunity and with a lawyer present, was for Jenn to "start with a clean sheet", to retell the events of the day Maddy disappeared, since she already had given various versions of different things, most importantly having seen Maddy that morning. I even wrote in to the live chat to hint about it, be that 50 min behind RT, but you'd only played clip no 1, but no one replied, and Joel didn't mention it.... - Why making a program, putting in the wrong parameters, then going on and on and on about it, only to to draw the wrong conclusions, on and on and on again (talking about Fil). And this is not the first time a similar thing has happened, and I've pointed that out. Maybe it's time to put a little bit more time of preparation regarding the the material to be discussed, rather than expand your workload with an additional channel, as you've just done? I say this with solely care for you, for the quality of the content of your channels, which I love, and follow rigorously, all the way from Sweden 🇸🇪 Good luck, and hopefully I didn't sound too harsh (2nd language syndrome, and a bit of lingering irritation....)

I haven't been watching much of this channel lately because it seems to have gone down hill because often it seems Joel and guests aren't prepared for subject manner unlike the other channels I watch and now he's staring up another channel. Get the first one running smoothly before starting another one although I'm one to complain. I'd love to have a channel but I don't have the energy due to illness to start up a channel. Now I pretty much watch when Tim is on or if a subject I want info on like the case of Maddie. This isn't new stuff because I've heard it all months ago.

@@debivanmarter I guess I have to agree, even though it seems to fluctuate quite a bit. Or is it a mirror of my own knowledge...? I don't know every case discussed inside out. But tonight I was actually angry. Especially after writing in to the live chat, pointing out that This is the interview given under immunity, not an interrogation, and just being ignored. Mods and CO and others chatting about foods, and blah blah blah... Nah, not good.

But I’m not gonna continue watching if Joel is not well aware of the case and specific clips of information he plays. The guest seem very good, but we’re given wrong information about the context of this specific interview, for example, and thus gave us wrong information and feedback. I got a puppy last year. 7 months later she got away at the park. I was in 104° heat hanging thousands of colored posters that cost one dollar each on every stop sign and red light for 3 miles surrounding that Park. Everybody in the park cud hear me on top of the mountain screaming for her. We even had a $5000 reward no questions asked. I went to every animal shelter in a 15 mile radius. I hired dogcatchers and had every person I knew at that park searching in groups. Friends even came from out of town to help. My efforts paid off and we found her! And that’s a dog that I only had for 7 months!!! Jennifer Soto knew & is involved. Because that was a little girl she had for 13 years and was pregnant with for 9 months. She created her life. How could she be so calm when she’s missing??? It does not make sense to me at all, except when I think how she’s got to be guilty, involved and she had to have known… ….only then does her reaction makes sense. She’s guilty!!! And even if she never goes to jail she has to realize every single person in the whole world knows who she is, and will never allow her to live a normal life and ALL think she’s guilty!!! I know if I saw her I’d go to jail for what I would do to her.

I grew up in central Florida, worked at Disney World as a hostess at Hall of Presidents and Country Bear Jamboree. I was there probably about a year. I cannot imagine any scenario where an employee could make off with a child visitor. Every minute is accounted for, there is no opportunity for grooming a child, and there are cameras everywhere. He could duck in a tunnel, but there is always traffic in the tunnels, and more cameras. Kids are safer from employees than they are the equipment.

When Jen Soto was interviewed, she had lawyered up and her lawyer was with her during this aired interview. Why is it that nobody seems to know that this is not a direct interrogation, but rather an interview with Jen under her lawyers guidance? Why don’t you discuss the difference between a direct interrogation and one in which the suspect has a lawyer present protecting their interests? Why is it that STS nor the guests seem to be informed that Jen’s lawyer is present during this interview?

Everyone that had committed about Madeline not having a bedroom of her own is not seeing the picture. She was a caged pet. She had almost no value. She served a purpose. She was used for various reasons. She increased money that Jennifer had each month. She was there to help get help from Jennifer's dad. She could get help from the state. She could use Madeline for attention. Jennifer had Madeline on drugs that helped control Madeline. Madeline was not helped to do good at school. She was a fish in a fish bowl in her little area behind a room divider with giant holes where you could see what Madeline was doing. She was allowed outside to walk the dog. It sounds like Jennifer was very vigilant as far as Madeline was concerned. She was vigilant that Madeline was never really alone with anyone she could tell what her home life was like. She kept the home life secret to herself. When she was at her grandmother's she stopped taking her meds. Did she begin to feel what not taking drugs was like and didn't want them any more. Was Jennifer realizing she was loosing that control over Madeline. She knew that was dangerous. An investigation would upset her life. She knew the "i want to go live in the woods " text was Madeline realy saying when she got her birthday money she was going to leave. Well, Sunday night she was able to get that money and control. Madeline wanted to stay at her grandmother's house. She begged. Did she have plans for Stephan to come help her leave. And Jennifer has other ideas to stop her for good.

Fil always great and thoughtful input. IMO there’s no question Jen had to know what was going on and she just didn’t care. She cared more about SS than her own daughter. Despicable person. RIP dear Maddie!

And her precious meds! She cared a lot about those meds! And I think she cared a lot about meds that were not prescribed to her. She is addicted to Benzos! I believe she traded her daughter to SS in return for those. IMO

If Madeline was taking long showers, that was her time alone. That was just about her only time alone. She was isolated from other people so Jennifer could be in control of her and know what she said and to who. The little Madeline bedroom area was another way to hear and see what made was doing. It may have seemed like Madeline had some privacy to her with the room dividers up around her area but any conversation she had was easily overheard by Jennifer. The opening or door would have to be left open most all the time so Jennifer could walk by and have a look inside at Madeline. This was another way Jennifer could have almost complete control over Madeline. If she had a room up stairs Madeline could close the door and have an actual private conversation on the phone or with a visitor. Yhen Jennifer would not be able to know everything Madeline was doing. Jennifer talking about what a male family member might do to Madeline if she spends the night away from home is very telling. It is hidden information she is telling but with a twist. She is manipulating the thought in your head to project the event could happen at someone else's house. But telling you what she thinks or knows is happening in her house. She set up that fear in your head to make it look like she is protecting Madeline from other people. When really she is keeping Madeline close to her so she can be sure she herself is safe. This tells us she knows what Stephan was doing. She might be in on it too. There are pictures of Madeline at a Christmas party or gathering. She's wearing a green dress. If you look closely at her face ,Madeline looks like she is drugged. I think Jennifer was giving Madeline different drugs to control her when they were going to be around a lot of people. It was a way to control Madeline. I think as Madeline was getting older she may have been asking why she needed some medications. If she acted druged maybe no one would talk much to her and she wouldn't make much sense. I think Jennifer gave answers to police that were giving police the idea Jennifer was actually interested in the welfare of Madeline when really she is trying to protect herself and Stephan. Her total lack of sorrow for the loss of her daughter tells you her only intent is to provide this protection for herself and Stephan. You have to listen to who is actually benefiting from her statement. Question about the missing Christmas money. The solution was to quickly say we found it. Not who found it or where. The interviewer went on to the next question. I think Jennifer was counting on her quick answer to be excepted and move on. She was wanting the pace to be fast thats why when more details are needed she takes that deep breath and lets out that pissed off sigh. She is controlling the interviewer. She wants her answer to satisfy the questions. When they do not she shows her suttle anger with a disaproving deep breath and the long sigh.

From one Mom to another-that Mother is clueless and pretty crappy. She has no idea about anything that her daughter does nor does she remember anything about her daughters actions. Did she actually care about Maddie?

I don’t buy the, “I’m always drugged, poor me, I couldn’t have known and I’m not very smart” act. I think she has used this excuse for years to avoid her responsibilities. As her mother said, “Jennifer just doesn’t want to be alone.” She wants to be taken care of and Maddie was the price she was willing to pay.

Now i know why Fil seems unchristian about some things or mostly certaintain words he says. Hes southern baptist. My dad would never use some of the words Fil uses. Neither would i. We are independent Baptist. Our church use to belong to the conservative baptist association and left it many years ago because they were becoming too liberal. Fil said turd. Couldn't say that in my house. I personally hate hearing that word because it sounds childish to me but my parents said it wasnt a nice word. There was no drinking, smoking or swearing in my house. No dancing or movie theaters either. I find ot strange how different people act that call themselves christian.

I with Mr. Walters would have interviewed her, she did get some type of immunity, I hope she is just a witness for to get more on Stephan, and then they go after her. She is a mess. R.i.p. Maddie. Another thing she had him stay the night to take her to school so Jen could "get a good sleep" so why does Maddie have to Wake you up from your precious sleep (mother) to say good bye.

So infuriating listening to this interviewer blow this - also the tenses he uses makes it impossible to determine if Jen’s use of the present and past tenses is because she’s repeating his use of the present or if she’s weaving lies in

Fil could use this interview as what not to do in a interview, when he is teaching others how to interview someone. Plus she had a lawyer with her in this interview & he was on a timeline. The lawyer only gave the officer so much time. Why the officer aloud that I don't know.
@christinaeldero6640
@christinaeldero6640 6 күн бұрын
@@Helen-t5g It wasn't an officer but a prosecutor who conducted the interview. The sole purpose was for her to "come clean and tell the truth + what she knew ". For that that she was granted restricted immunity (=solely for this interview).
