Lath: set the integral value of your pids to infinite, it looks like you've got some windup issues. Integral controllers are most useful for things which change slowly, like furnaces ( or if the pid algorithm ftd has was sane, damping oscillations slightly ). You can generally turn it off for vehicles.

Lathrix, gunpowder is explosive... so even if you don't have any HE, Flak or otherwise, it will still detonate. The only way to get non-explosive shells is to use railgun power only. :D

I got an idea. Make it a "Waagh on Glao" challenge.. Try to complete the campaign as fast as you can with certain limitations. 1. Limited resource harvesters. You have the resource gain at minimum so you need to pick your battles but we don't want to go overboard with resource harvesting either. I'd suggest 6 + 2 for every resource zone you have with maximum of 8 in any one resource zone (You now have 8, right?). So taking over resource zones increases your resource gain but not too much. 2. Limited use of avatar and player powers. Avatar can be used in combat at all only limited times. There's a budget of points for that. Using it only to pilot vehicles and use weapons manually uses one point for a battle. If you use it also to repair, boost vehicles and/or shoot with hand weapons it costs two points for a battle. You can pilot vehicles in battles you do this for no extra cost. With 3 points you can in addition change missile warheads, shield settings thing like that that could be realistically done in battle but could make difference in result. Full use of avatar cost's 5 point sand includes all of the above and you can also build in combat, delete blocks in combat, scrap vehicles in combat.. Exploitative uses. You might want to not use that at all. This could be used to get around the hearstone needed limitation by building additional heartstones, If avatar dies in combat it costs extra point as penalty. You can capture enemy vehicles with any of these uses (in case of accidental capture it count s a you hawing piloted the vehicle even if you didn't as there's some benefits - unless it's the last vehicle enemy had,) However captured vehicles cannot be scrapped for resources or if that's done the gained resources have to be wasted by building civilian buildings or something. Captured vehicles can be used. Using them in combat they are captured is free but later there's cost. 3. Limited use of cheesy tech. Some technologies could be considered cheese and/or "unorky".. I'm not saying they should not be used at all as it's fun to see all kind of stuff but overusing something "OP" would be boring. So there could be a system for limiting them. Designs that feature things like lasers, OP dakka etc. Are considered "elite" and cost "elite vehicle maintenace points" to use in combat. Id' say they can be used in defense of the starting square freely but outside it they cost. How much depends on how cheesy the design is. Something like orbital lasers is obvioysly really heesy and would cost. But any lasers could cost a bit - the bigger the laser the more it costs. Bigger PACs and advanced cannons with insane rate of fire could cost too. Perhaps any submarines too. A vehicle could be made bit less elite by adding aesthetic elements ("were not total savages - look we a have a doorway") that make them bit less cost efficient. Captured vehicles are of course cost efficient because they are free to build.. So using them would cost.. But you could buy them to be regular vehicles by wasting their cost in resources somewhere else (like building civilian buildings for looks or just buiilding a lump of heavy armor somewhere..).

If you make a anti missile cannon Know 2 things: THE ANTI MISSILE CONTROLLER CAN GO ANYWARE ON THE TURRET! 2: It can also be paired with a normal weapon controller, But still prioritizes missiles, only shooting at enemies when 0 enemy missiles are in the sky or torpedoes are in the water.

Advanced cannon gunpowder does explode, I recall it doing about half the damage of a flak shell its own size with the radius of HE. Also, why do you keep using the open clips so much? The closed cases have one more armor point and your PC doesn't have to render a ton of tiny shells in storage.

Instead of balancing the doombus to keep it in the resource zone, you should just build a small, shielded resource collector buoy-type thing that can counter most types of incoming fire to some degree. That way you dont have to babysit the boombus to make sure it stays put

Lathland/lathrix, I am currently working on various craft designed for testing purposes in FtD. Once I have finished them, would you like me to send you the blueprints for your own testing? They have no offensive capabilities, and are focused purely on defense/avoidance. They will be nearly impossible to destroy, and should provide an excellent target to test your craft against. I have two: 1 is an aircraft, moves at ~200 m/s, full strength 10 reflect sheilds, LAMs capable of defending from huge barrages of crams, or up to 200 missiles at 20 missiles/s it also possesses strength 10 laser absorb shielding. In terms of hull, heavy armor coated with a layer of metal creates a durable, though not too heavy, armoring system that is easily repairable. The repair system of the craft is fairly decent, being able to repair minor damage in seconds, and major damage within a few minute. As a, "Final Defense" the craft has a warp drive that will begin charging as soon as the craft encounters enemies, if it's health drops below 90%, it will be activated and it will teleport a maximum distance of 6 km, before circling back around. The other is a ship with very similar defenses (though the LAMs are weaker, and obviously because it is a ship it moves much slower, though the armor is much thicker). Would you be interested in these test craft? They should provide you with an excellent platform to build weapons on in order to conduct live-fire tests. They can also serve the role of a live-target for when you are testing your craft. Please let me know if you are interested. Thanks, - Jo

I would, but I dedicated 99% of the internal space to defensive measures. The Warp Drive requires at immense amount of power to function well. The only weapon I could possibly mount would be a laser that draws off the LAMS, or missiles mounted on turrets (not great DPS).

The testing craft is yeah, not meant for campaign (no offensive weaponry). The Ninja (death machine craft) is 600,000 material, so definitely not cheap, only 7000 blocks though, so it's not too CPU intensive.

Grab your calculator Lathrix 60(1 min) / gun cooldown * number of barrels = fire rate, in your case 60 / 0.22 * 6 = 1636 60(1 min) / time to pass shell... or expected reload time... * how many auto loaders you have for example: 60 / 8.9 * 50 = 337 for 50 autoloaders with time to pass to ammo clip being 8.9 sec 60 / 4.43 * 50= 677 for 50 autoloaders with expected reload time for clip being 4.43 (you can find this number in shell editor)

I basically did the same thing as the DoomBox for my main ship, but gave it belt-fed autoloaders - got a fire rate of over 1000RPM with 125mm shells. Then I put five on each side of the ship. Needless to say, if you throw enough APCR at a shield, at 1200x5RPM, enough will get through to kill the shield generator. Sure, you're going to waste 3/4 of your ammunition on it, but where's the fun in being efficient?
