is there any way to have the "companion" ships do things outside of the sector your in? Mine seems to just shut down when i leave the sector.

As far as I know the game stops simulating sectors the player isn't in so, unfortunately, you have to sort of babysit them. It works pretty well for me though since I have my main ship as a heavy combatant and just burn time killing pirates for the bounty reward and loot while my miner brings in the raw resources to repair and eventually upgrade everything. On a side note, currently adventuring in search of Naonite but so far have only found increasing amounts of titanium which is both a good sign and slightly disappointing.

@lathrix also, aside from the scrapyard being awesome, cargo space becomes more efficient the larger the cube you make, there are also system upgrades for it. I am really excited, since your first (impressions) video i've put 30 hours into Avorion x_x

Bought this game because of you, and I'm glad I did. Just defeated the first pirate boss, the system upgrade he gives you is like +4 turrets, off the top of my head. Also good way to get titanium is to go to scrapyards and find the cubes with a small antenna sticking out the top. Mine the side and you can get at the battery part which contains all the titanium, max I found had 60k.

It's worth noting that mining/salvaging turrets will only get you ore 1 tier above what it's made of, for example titanium can mine naonite and everything under but won't get you trinium.

A tip with crafting, as it is tedious and mostly worthless: Build a stationary cargo stash in the factory sector with a lot of armor and shielding (Integrity and later proper shields) and slap on some independent targeting turrets for defense. From then on, you don't have to worry about not having enough space on your ship, nor do you need to worry about losing the cargo in battle.

Hey Lath. I know you like to learn by playing so I won't blab spoilers at you, however, I will point out something you may have missed. Back in your very first vid you equipped a Trade module/system and didn't notice what it did. When you equip a trade module it adds an icon at the top right of the screen next to the puzzle piece icon. Clicking on that trade icon will bring up a screen that shows everything that can be bought/sold in the entire sector, price, location and i think the volume of the items. Also if its good enough it'll show trade routes that you can profit from. Oh, and the puzzle piece icon is for Insuring your ship in case it blows up...not that that will ever happen! ;) Hope this helps and hope you enjoy the game half as much as I have.

Your subsystems also use energy, you can see the top bar at the lowest portion of your hud. The second bar is your energy capacitor. Your warp recharge is so slow because you consume more than you can produce.

Titanium field generators arent proper shields, they just make your blocks have more health, you can get proper shield when you get closer to the center of the galaxy and get rarer resources. Also the material that the mining turret is made of plays a big role, for example you cant mine Naonite with Iron mining turrets, you have to have at least the Titanium ones and so on... Get more turrets and upgrades by killing and salvaging pirates, aliens. Sell all the extra upgrade stuff at stations to earn a lot of money. Also try selecting your whole ship in build more and press Combine blocks, it will make it tighter and better. Use wormholes to get closer to the center, find an allied or nutral system and help them kill pirates to get rep, turrets and resources...

the way the integrity field works is before you put it on separate blocks would fall off once their hp went to zero but when you put the integrity field on it makes your whole ship one big hp pool and the blocks wont fall off seperatly except stuff like guns

When you put in the new radar you were actually hovering your cursor over a mass signature the whole time you were looking at the map before you headed off to investigate an unknown signature. You probably should have hung around that faction battle for awhile. Even if you had no intention of picking a side in the fight, think of all the salvage :)

about maximizing the thruster efficiency, the best thing you can do is decreasing the scale and grid size to a minimum and using tiny little cubes. when you have placed enough you mark them and ctrl+c and paste them a few times. when doing that, a volume x of engines gives you only 1/4 of the acceleration then the same volume of thrusters would give you in break power. also you should note when using cube shapes, they work in every direction. but be careful, when pasting insane amounts of blocks the game still performs well, but not when you try to delete them (at least for me, my game crashed when trying to delete around 4-5k blocks. deleting 1k blocks freezes the game temporarily. I hope this will be fixed soon, i think it could crash servers too.

Lathland if you want your ship to auto mine try this, I think if you start mining in your main ship and then go into a starter drone your main ship will keep mining by itself. I'm not sure if this will work or not but try it in your next video. Also great job on on the videos, keep it up!

The weirdness in movement come from not having inertia while holding the W button, while being fully Newtonian when not accelerating. Smashed in countless asteroids because of that :V

Something about the aliens is that you can get as close as you want to just don't bump into them or use any of your turrets and they will not touch you. If they jump into a sector and you are building your ship and Pirates jump in they will literally go after the pirates as soon as they start shooting and in a way protect you. I have had it happen multiple times. As long as I didn't mine or shoot my guns I was completely safe although any ships that were not aggressive like traders or merchants got attacked and destroyed but that cannot be helped.

Most of the time it is either asteroids to claim and sell/build your own mine or it can be a combination of the wormholes, hidden stashes, abandoned ships and travelers stashes, or even the asteroids mentioned earlier.

Careful with warping to random areas cuz your lucky you got out of that bandit trap. if they actually get close enough to you they will block your warp drive so you can't warp away.

Titanium adds Blocks which make surrounding blocks stronger, the first time you get actual shields is the green stuff
