A manuel car makees it easier to overtake as you can decide on the gear and the speed. Also it means freedom of choice as you can drive both with a regular licence, meanwhile youd stick to the automatic car once you only learned to drive it

I Payed 1800€ for driving License in 2006. (Up to 3k today) Another 500€ for the Trailer Driving License. (Just Cars-Trailer, The "LKW" (40t Truck License ) costs about 20k+) (The Normal License is including Trailers to max 700kg) As a Taxi Driver you would need a extra Passenger-Driving-License.

A friend of mine just made drivers license and she payed over 4000€. I did drivers license just 8 years ago and only paid half. Okay, I needed less lessons and did the exam on first try, but still.

in the 20. century people who cannot drive manually are seen as losers. Not just due to the lack of skills (and knowledge of technics, because for some time automatic was indeed also inferior to manual driving regarding acceleration etc.) but also due to not getting the fun to drive manual. Now, in the 21. century most have a more pragmatic view and think that everyone should drive what fits best. Also the raise of electric cars and better automatic in general (much more efficient) changed a lot of the perception. Winter tyres are better for winter (grip and so on) while Sommer tyres are better for dry/heated streets. Driving the same tyres is not optimal if you have changing seasons (costs also more energy).

Automatic cars cost more than manual cars (2-3000€) and germans are thrifty ;-) Automatic cars also need more fuel

Well, the stated numbers for manual cars are outdated. Today one third of all cars in Germany have automatic transmission. This goes up to more than 50 percent for new cars. Medium-sized and luxury cars today often don´t have a manual option at all.

Electric cars make the difference. With gasoline or diesel cars, there is still the technical difference that an automatic is heavy and therefore consumes more fuel. It also makes maintenance unnecessarily more expensive.
