Suggestion for anyone wanting to find columns: prom prop suppliers. I was looking for a column streetlight to use as a floor lamp because 80s mall aesthetic is my thing and those places have plenty of columns to choose from that aren’t too expensive.

Love to hear this! Would also love to see a pic of your place because I adore the 80s resurgence right now.

What?? No Baguette??😮 Love this type of video. Maybe alternate with actual makeovers? (I love those too...I usually start with eww but turn into amazing!) You have single handedly changed how I look at decor! You were missed, but I hope you were able to de-stress💕
@LaughCryDIY6 ай бұрын
Baguette was very asleep and uninterested 😂 Yes, definitely mixing up the content in between real makeovers. I’ve had some family caretaking stuff which has taken over life in the last year, so it’s been a little hard to manage it all. But hoping to get more makeovers in the mix.

I'm sad I didn't buy this tiny column from unnecessary oddments in austin. I have been trying to recreate it but it's not going well. I know that's not the name of the store but that's what my brain keeps thinking it is! Uncommon Objects. the pool noodle idea is cool though, trying to think of what I have around that's a tiny version...! Also working on changing the fronts of a set of drawers so that's definitely getting me thinking! And the doors!!! Yessss.

RIP to the column 😭 But I hope you find/DIY the perfect one. I’m also happy to hear that you were already a column queen. We need more!

@@LaughCryDIY I'm trying the noodles on a rolling craft drawer cart thing! Or at least one side. I do have a few garden columns that I literally took off the street (out for the trash!? I don't think so!) but the yard is a bit overrun right now. Too hot to do anything out there. Maybe I should bring those inside to enjoy...

yay! video!! I 100% want and need door drama. I have however, always been hesitant about sunken living rooms since as a teenager in Australia at a friends house and we discovered a VERY large lizard (like 1.5m long, and thicker around than my leg) had wandered in the house and got stuck in the sunken bit.

I put columns from floor to ceiling in my parents condo using large diameter sewer pipe, capitols and base coated them with gesso before painting them in a pink faux marble. I then used a high gloss polyurethane. I added several containers of sand to lessen the hollow sound if someone knocked on them. They totally fooled the builder when he came to finish some small things after my parents moved in. He did knock on them to see if they were real. He was blown away at the difference they made in the home.

I can't count how many times ive intended to do high drama ceilings ( having done few in the past) only to stop short because i awaken from my time blindness and dread the amount of work to not only detail a ceiling but the priming and painting again if i don't like the results 😹 my suggestion is to go for the dramatic ceiling first so you're energy to finish the room is not waning at this critical moment in decision making.😻
