All three involving accidents with injuries and the third resulted in two fatalities (I worked with the father/father in law of the two victims) The man got “time served” after being bonded out, he got probation, house arrest and fines. He’s known around for being a successful architect and engineer and hooked up in city. He has money and connections so he avoided prison time.

I was a medic for seven years. I despise drunk drivers. The amount of pain and number deaths that I've seen because of them are enormous. Of all the crashes, only a handful of the drunks were seriously injured or died. They tend to get light sentences. That is a failure of the court system. Darlene, First, that was always wildly unconstitutional. It’s a crane to have committed a crime has a constitutional term- double jeopardy. Second, it isn’t universal though my far left state of Washington has it. Third it’s usually for violent felonies. And this one could be redolent sentencing guidelines fir his actual crimes. If a third DUI meant serious time and sixth a decade in prison this crap might stop without turning the Constitution into toilet paper.

Why on earth should anyone who has had 9 DUIs STILL BE LEGALLY DRIVING in his country ?????!!!!!!!! This is pure INSANITY ! The way that most states handle drunk driving arrests and prosecution is tantamount to putting a band aid on a heart attack !! I am so weary of what is happening in my country…and our legal system is one of the things I am most disillusioned with…our Law Enforcement Officers are literally abused every hour of their working day; the disrespect and vitriol directed toward police officers is so disturbing,so hateful , impossible to fathom….it makes me ashamed that this is so broadly accepted by everyone ??!! They are abused and harassed every day, and the criminals are more often than not given the proverbial slap on the wrist…..I have friends who live in Western Europe…their shock and disgust at our legal system and especially at the nastiness and blatant disrespect hurled at ALL authority, and specifically law enforcement is palpable !! When they visit the U.S., they are shocked and appalled …and I am horrified and embarrassed that all of this happens in MY country….

For a high speed pursuit chase and a drunk driver these officers were extremely professional and kept their cool. People like this need some serious prison time. This guy was a loaded weapon driving that truck at high rates of speed, into oncoming lanes, intoxicated, and his a repeat offender. $7500 bond was ridiculous. He has a history of being non-compliant by repeat offences. He doesn’t get it. These guys never just kill themselves. They keep doing this shit until they kill someone else. Then if they live they get a small amount of prison time and then go back at it again. FYI chronic alcoholics can have a BAC over .30 and still be conscious and semi-functional. I’ve witnessed many defendants have BAC’s over .30 and come to court. One lady I did a PBT on had a BAC of .46 and was at court. She was a mess but was able to talk.

He doesn't care, he figures the Wisconsin cops will be lenient. I mean he made fun of them with the goofy nurse laughing beside him in the hospital. You think some Texan cops or Ny cop would let him get away with that? Any other place the cops would give him some real southern hospitality😏.

I used to be a proofreader for a state senate. I remember a bill about DUI but specific to boating. As I was reading the penalties/imprisonment portion of the bill it's like "on the 5th offense... on the 6th offense.... on the 7th offense..." I think up to 9 and then it said, "each subsequent offense." I remember commenting "as a taxpayer in this state, why the hell is this person even allowed the privilege of boating after this many chances???" Tl;dr - your state legislation is as responsible, if not more so, than the criminal justice system. There could easily be statutory prohibitions or additional requirements on serial DUI offenders.

if you listen closely, the guy had a suspended license anyway. That didn't stop him from driving his car. Imagine how hard it is to stop people on boats who generally feel "fuck you" about getting a license at all
