I just bought a 13 3.5 platinum with only 22k miles. Got a cold air intake, exhaust cut out and saving up for high flow down pipes and SCT+ live wire tuner to really wake it up

@@hunterburch2675 MPT and 5 star are great for the tune. Don't forget a 170° thermostat for overheating issues. You will get a completely different truck when it's tuned right!

@@bugs825 I’ve heard a catch can and charge pipes (I think it was charge pipes I read) are essential too before modding

@@hunterburch2675 kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3fCqGaHoLujnZI This si what I went off of. You just need to understand the basic principles of a boosted intake to assemble it correctly for a fraction of the cost. Don't forget the check valve! One thing I did differently was mount the cans in front of the radiator, just behind the grill. This allows better cooling of the cans and removal of blow by.
@bugs825 Жыл бұрын
@@hunterburch2675 the stock plastic charge pipes actually flow very well. $350 for 15 hp max is not the best investment return. I'd go with a 2 stage intake or catless downpipes for a bigger return. The exhaust is also an easy mod as I removed my muffler and welded a 3" piece of pipe in its place, as the exhaust is already 3". It sounds decent straight piped for a $25 mod and quieter than cutouts.

Good results, but the DA must be high where you’re at. Our 21+ ecoboost are running 13.7s stock tune and mid-high 12s on 93 tune only. I ran one stock with a passenger and tool box in the bed full of tools, it ran 14.0 @98 stock and the. 12.97 @102 with a 4.4 0-60. You also need to leave harder, 2,000 rpms in these trucks is literally 0 boost off the line. U can launch these at 3,000-3,300 on the foot brake. And they leave like an animal
@cobracarlos Жыл бұрын
that’s crazy fast! No I’m in Florida so at sea level, will definitely try leaving at 3k rpm 🙌🏽

I was running E30 tune, bought three 5 gal jugs for mixing because the nearest station with E85 in in Lake Nona… after 2 revisions, the difference in power wasn’t worth the headache/stress/anxiety. E50 is a different story. An ethanol content sensor would’ve been helpful and put my mind at ease, but even those can be off.
@cobracarlos Жыл бұрын
That’s funny because I just tuned the truck for e50 and it was pretty stressful, check out my latest video! Power difference was definitely noticeable compared to 93 though

I'm also on the 93-prx tune. I took my truck to the track and did a stock pass of 14.43@94mph. Then at the track(same day) installed a Mishimoto Intercooler, Turbosmart BOV, and loaded the 93-prx tune and ran 13.62@95mph. After some revisions and installed the AMS Turbo inlet pipes and Bwoody Traction bars, 2 weeks later went back to the track and ran 13.21@101mph. My truck had brand new 275/55r20 General Grabber ATX's which most likely held me back. I'll be going back soon with a set of OEM 18's and slightly shorter tire which should provide better results. Track conditions and elevation also play a role of course. Truck is definitely much more fun to drive daily.

When I want e50 I find it easiest to run down a 93 octane tank close to empty. Then put in the required amount of e85 for a 36 gal tank after testing the ethanol content. Then top off the rest with 93 octane. This way you really can't mess up. Also, keep in mind when you do your calculations the 93 is usually e10, you can test that also to be sure.
@cobracarlos Жыл бұрын
That definitely sounds like the best way to do it! Will be doing that for sure, what do you test your ethanol with?

No difference in mpg all depends on how you drive it. Takes a couple minutes to change tune or go back to stock I’ve done it at gas stations a couple times switching between 93 and my e50 tune
@Dkimbrough838 ай бұрын
Does it change the compression ratio of the engine? If not, there’s still no reason to put 93 octane in that truck, correct?

Did you drive a little for the truck to learn the driving habits or did you install and go right to testing

Ideally you would drive some to get the computer to learn your driving habits, if you don’t like what it learned you could always reset it again and start over, I think I had to do that because I drove too aggressively at first 😂
