I went to a school with review boards. You got credit on the work you did, you chose your work, it was your chosen passion, your time spent was time affluence to the extreme- no grades attendance is moot unless it's a class you know is of benefit to You. Fantastic. Art school, of course. I say of course because it is innovative and unique.

Sitting here in my living room right now listening to this makes me feel like I'm back in my college psychology courses, enjoying learning the nuances of human behavior. I understand and agree with everything she says, although i have a few questions. How can a young student sleep enough if the 24hours of the day are sometimes not enough for all they need to get done?. How do you sleep well if your mind keeps thinking about how much you have to study or how many things you have in the to do list????. I dont think the problem resides in the daily practices of young students, i think the problem resides in the amount of work compared to the amount of time they are given to get it done. I think 24 hours a day are not enough for everything they need to do in a day...so i think the problem resides in the eduction system, take a look at Finland education system, you will see quite differences compared to the american system

I'm not a psychologist, but if I were to hazard a guess, I would think that even introverts benefit from social connection. I don't think an introvert's need for "alone time" precludes their need for social connection -- it can be both, at different times of your day / week / life. I would think even an introvert would not be happy if they were alone 100% of the time and had zero social connections. And I don't think she's suggesting that "alone time" is antithetical to happiness. I don't think she's saying if you want to be happy, never be alone. At least, that's not what I got out of it.

At about 5:20 she says "40% of college students report more than the average level of stress" and she characterizes that as a bad thing. Now, I understand that "average" (mean) and median are different things, but exactly what percentage of college students would you expect to report higher-than-average stress? It seems like 40% reporting more than average is about what I'd expect, assuming a relatively even distribution of stress levels.

There is nothing new in this presentation for people like myself who are familiar with spiritual and philosophical teachings. As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who is also familiar with psych research, it can also be said that the world doesn't need psychological research to teach us what is universally and inherently true and that our own direct experience tells us. Focus on love, gratitude and forgiveness and the power of NOW and you will experience peace and happiness.

Intuition is not the same as the mind lying to you. Mind and emotions can lie to you and what we lack today is tuning into intuition because we're so caught up in the extrinsic self. As much as the talk is helpful it is lacking focus on encouraging individuals to learn about their authentic self to truly experience meaning.

Please don't go for conceptual term called Happiness. Word is not thing. If you try to be happy, you will not be that. The thing that you are looking never exists, because you are conceptualized that feeling, but that's not real within your perception. What is real is your self, your unhappiness, your actions, your problems and challenges. Please see them with great attention. What you get out of this can't be explainable.

and give credit to Berkeley who started a program called "the Science of Happiness" long before this ... and on Coursera, She's used all the Berkeley science and the experts they cite in their course, who actually participate in the course as speakers. Her offering piggy backs on the work they did, without a word of mention of this, in fact she makes it sound like she invented the subject, and is the mother of the revolution. The Berkeley project was launched in September 2014, and she started after 2016 !

Lol, was watching at 2x (not sure if that is a good or bad habit). However there is a good trick if you feel like it is going to fast. Watch it even faster for a couple of minutes. Also attempt to try to understand it as much as possible while ignoring that you can't figure out exactly what was being said. Then go back and slow it back to your preferred speed you will find that it is much more manageable even for new content. Like getting off a highway when driving and it feels painfully slow even though it didn't feel like it before.

Honestly though. This speech is so basic and surface level. She is saying things that everyone already knows. No shit money doesn't make you happy but can you tell me why that is? Can you tell me why we still strive for it regardless? Can you tell me how to rewire the reward system in my brain? Can you tell that to our government and our society who values money and looks down upon anyone who fights against that notion? But what are the steps? How dose it translate in real life? Evey single person in life and their situation is so different and personal. Just telling people to do these things and them trying to do it isn't a solution. They need to find ways to put these things into practice that are specific to them and their situations. We need to help rewire our brains and our society. It's so much more complicated than listing out things that make people happy and telling them to do those things.
