Brian Hallmond yo, get P 90x...no matter what shape you’re in now in 30 days you’ll be smiling. FYI it’s not easy at all, but it’s only 3 days a week of “lifting weights’, the other 3 days are aerobic training (which I don’t do at all anymore) and 1 day of yoga/rest. I did P 90X workouts twice a week, 1.5 hour each day (the videos are lik 45 min, but I was too winded to go through without pausing it), for about 3 months then switched to only lifting weights 3 days a week. These days, 12 years later, I work out twice a week and more or less can keep the body I developed 10 years ago. My point is P 90X got me comfortable with dedicating 3 days (at most) to exercising. I smoke, drink and still party 3-4 nights a week, but still force/desire my exercising.

@DRob_224 жыл бұрын
Great job, brother! You can never truly be built up, unless you're properly broken down. Getting past your mental sticking points is more difficult than the physical training, itself. Muscle only accumulates during sleep/adequate rest. Taking at about ~48 hours to rest the specified worked body part would've given you more noticeable muscle growth, although your BMI looks as though it did change from your initial picture. People tend to forget that rest is a part of the training process, as well as the eating. Adequate rest gives room to dispose of lactic acid buildup and mitigates the chance for injury, as well as promote muscle growth. Resting doesn't necessarily mean do nothing, but rather walking or an activity less dynamic. I'm from the old school, but I would've loved to do CrossFit training in my 20s. Old school weight trainers either love CrossFit or hate it, but I love just love to be pushed. I think CrossFit gets you out of your comfort zone, but you have to have a great lifting form/technique background to safety get the most out of it. Just getting off you a** and doing something is the first step to being great!

Technique instead of injury. Start with strict pull ups then move to kipping pull ups then butterfly in an amrap, which actually take a lot of technique. Kipping pull-ups are an Olympic movement, it’s the movement they use to get up on the bar. That’s how CrossFit in a good gym is taught, getting your body in a good hollow position takes a strong grip and core. If you’re not trained right, you can get hurt. If your trained correctly you won’t injure yourself unless you get careless.

It has one trainer who is the owner and he caps how many people can attend each session, to give attention to everyone during workouts. Before sigining up he let's people know its not your average CF gym where you go extremly hard to the point of wanting to throw up, although there are those hard days. We practice Gymnastics too, which I guess almost no other gyms in the area do at all. Even the trainer of the gym agrees most CF gyms that go extremely hard isnt good and he doesnt recommend working out that way cause down the road your body just tears down extremely more than the average person when they age. I get the pro athletes though this is their daily life.Crossfit is awesome and fun, but it doesnt always have to be grueling. The gymnastic days we have the workouts sometimes arent even that much of a sweat, which is definaetly nice to get a break.

Being a group type of training, you're put right into fire with people often way ahead from you that you don't wan't to slow down (plus if you do you would be bombarded by the "C'mon! You can do it!" of the coach). I know it's supposed to motivate you, but since it is a very intense (and specific) type of training, this mentality can be dangerous. It's like if on your first day of gym your trainer throws you on the bench press and loads 160k screaming "C'mon! You can do it!" NO! You just can't right away! That's is what I really didn't like. There was no gradual progression. And wait...I did gym for years so I knew proper posture for most of those exercise...but if I didn't? You could get serious injuries if the coach isn't able to properly follow everyone. I'm not saying is bad, but it's definitely not for everybody and if you have never tried this type of training first and don't know if you can handle it, you should be aware of it. I had heard only praise from my (very resistent) friend and my (very light and skinny) girlfriend, I didn't take into right consideration my lack of endurance and got destroyed. It's important to be aware even of negative experiences someone may had to approach it with a more grounded mindset and avoid doing the same mistakes.

Crossfit training is actually pretty awful long term. Short term you may see some results if you arent used to fully exerting yourself. But you can do full body full exertion in a real gym with real form and not have such a high risk of injury. You don't even need the gym, but if you're going to do dips/pushups/handstandPU/pullups, you can do them all, get the same time under tension (probably more as you arent flailing around like a dumbass), and not need to constantly worry about fucking up your shoulders/back. There is no argument that CrossFit is dangerous. Any physiotherapist or Chiro will agree because they deal with so many patients from it. Yeah, you're sacrificing form to get the exercise done faster, I get that. Which is fine for competitions, if you're the best of the best. And those top people are doing the majority of their training with correct form, not crossfit form. A few weeks before they compete they start mixing it in to get neuromuscular connection back. But for strength, injury potential, muscle mass, etc, you train properly with proper form. 99% of people have no business ever setting foot in a crossfit gym. Its simply a less effective, more dangerous, and often more expensive version of training properly at a gym or with bodyweight. Most of the competitions don't even have set rules either, so you see things like the block hammering where some jackasses just start dragging it. If they can't enforce even the most basic of rules there, I'd seriously question their competency with regard to safety guidelines.

The idea is to find something you can keep up with longer than 30 days. Crossfit is good, i did it, but i also have a 32 hours job and a private life. If you find a sport or any exercise that you feel ok with doing it, than it's easier to keep doing it for a longer period of time. Everybody is busy these days to get sixpack, big biceps, big legs etc but the main goal is to keep you're body healthy and there are so much ways to do that. Im a medical personal trainer myself and i helped my cliënts to get fit in a mix of exercises that we did find together as "fitting" to the lifestyle and it works most of the time. Not saying that crossfit or any kind of hard work is bad for you, you can get amazing results if you do it right ofc :)

CrossFit if taught right, there aren’t many injuries. Since starting CrossFit I’ve added 40 lbs to my bench, 70 lbs to my cleans, shaved 2 minutes off of my mile time and have not been injured. I’m more explosive on the basketball court, my resting heart rate is lower. Back and legs are stronger. I get one on one training with the coaches. Fixed some of my flexibility problems. Where injuries happen is when someone is prideful and refuses to scale down weights in order to perfect their technique. Zeek you seem very anti CrossFit... my question for you is, were you coachable, or did you try to do it all yourself? The gyms are typically open Monday thru Friday with an open gym on Saturday for independent work.
@chastanmo144 жыл бұрын
Zeek Banistor lol nah, I’ve been doing it for 2 years and haven’t been injured once. It’s all about how you go about it. If you’re smart about it , you’ll be fine

Zeek Banistor I’m not genetically gifted, I’m just careful. Yes, he is making a lot of money for a training style. Just like every other training style. What’s different is the incorporation of a team atmosphere and the inclusion of gymnastics and Olympic lifts in a team atmosphere, it’s great for people that miss the camaraderie of being on a team. Specifically hs team athletes.

@@LaurieShaw It's a fair comment to make tbh. Most don't eat before working out and I think I'm in the minority that do. I try to keep it light with just cereal and coffee. I think plant-based helps too since it doesn't stick around, but everyone does it differently. 😁

Lol why would u not eat before crossfit. It doesn't matter when u eat. Calories in calories out a day determines weight loss/gain. Fasted training or not eating before u go training matters zeroooooo!

Give it a try. If it's a good gym (and there are a lot of gyms out there) they will show you how to scale things. Key is to push hard, but not so hard you make yourself sick, so it is sustainable. Take this from someone who came to crossfit with bad knees and a weak back. There was a lot of I could do when I arrived, but there is still a lot I can't do.
@ackleyadventures45984 жыл бұрын
Awesome effort! I will say, the research shows that it takes approximately 8 weeks for the body to have changes from hypertrophy. So, 4 weeks, in any fitness routine, the most changes you will see is loss of bodyfat, which may make your muscles look bigger and vascular. But if you gave yourself 4 more weeks, you would be significantly larger (in a good way) compared to the 4 week mark. As long as you eat correctly, of course.

I switched from Crossfit to Weightlifting, because i injured myself to often. The other thing is, you can´t be good at Snatch or Clean&Jerk, if you only do it once per week or less, thats just impossible. Doing a Crossfit Workout with lighter weights (or just Bodyweight like Cindy, Barbara..) and perfect technique is totally fine, i do it once or twice per week to keep my endurance at a good level. The Problem with Crossfit is, that there are so many movements to learn and even after years of Crossfit you will just be "ok" with the movements, but there will be no movement at all that you can do "good" or even "perfect". If you want to get fit and healthy go for it, but let your ego at home and stay out of this competition thing where you try to be the fastest in the Workouts, thats where people get injured. If you want to be good at one movement or even perfect and you aren´t satisfied with just being average in everything , then stick to this one movement or choose another sport...
@consuarce16734 жыл бұрын
I honestly think that you went to a bad gym, i do Crossfit and you CAN get a perfect technique it just takes time, in my gym I don’t start lifting until i have perfect technique, even if i do it once a week (on my planner) i still practice the new movement every day after training ,if you get injured bc you didn’t practice your technique enough that’s your fault lmao
@hanswurst15414 жыл бұрын
@@consuarce1673 i´ve been to two Crossfit Gyms by the way, and in both Gyms people were injured a lot. The other thing is the big difference and quality of teaching the movements. For example the different understanding of "external rotation". Crossfit teaching it wrong, because they don´t understand it. Also i was teached to "pop" the bar with my hips in Crossfit and don´t bent my arms in the 3rd pull....thats just bullshit man. I learned so much from my Weightlifting Coach so my Snatch went up from 75kg as i started Weightlifting a year ago to 110kg and Clean&Jerk from 95kg to 130kg and i didn´t really get stronger, i just improved technique. that would never have happened with Crossit.... Anyway, you don´t ask a Football Player if you want to get better in Basketball, right? So who do you believe, a level 1 Crossfit Coach with a 80kg Snatch or a Weightlifter with a 180kg Snatch ? i think thats clear.
@consuarce16734 жыл бұрын
Hans Wurst i mean, I’m sorry that they taught you wrong, by you just saying the *hip pop* got everything clear, but crossfit is not all about lifting heavy, weightlifting obviously is and I’m not gonna doubt that you can lift more practicing that sport, but i do still think that you went to bad gyms, that’s not your fault though :)
