Why wasn't she casted in the Nina Simone biopic instead of Zoe Saldana. Did she turn it down?...I mean, they made a tribute album and Lauryn sings all the big hits on there. She bodies every single one! She's also an activist for black folk and their freedom just like Nina. Her skin tone is perfect and she can sing. We would still be talking about the movie today had she been casted for that role. Hollywood and its bizarre choices!

@@brucecollins4729 Hamish and Christy Moore's version is how the song should be sung. They manage to bring the beauty out of both the lyrics and the tune. I personally find hearing hearing this song sung by a female singer strange - but Cara Dillon does a lovely job with the song. The rest have taken the song and interpreted in a way that doesn't even sound remotely like the same song - and that includes Simone.
