I loved the foxglove design from one of the other poison videos. It was so cute, and it was actually fun to learn about, making foxglove one of my favorite flowers after the video (along with sunflowers, tulips, and bleeding heart buds C:)

The area I live is riddled with queen annes lace and because I seen a psa about hemlock as a kid I used to avoid queen annes lace entirely. I've looked up how to tell the difference between the two plants just so I could touch queen annes lace without fearing hemlock poisoning.

I'm happy (?) to see the manchineel being mentioned ! I once gathered some driftwood that was itching me a bit, and went down a rabbit hole to find if it was a manchineel branch (it wasn't, there were just tiny bugs). I found was a piece of furniture, and I thought the person who did that was crazy and dedicated. It was pretty expensive too. Who wouldn't like a piece of deadly furniture?

I actually have an aunt who grows angel's trumpets, they are red and really pretty, and once when me and my cousin were playing under the tree and I picked one flower and showed it to her and she freaked out and told me to wash my hands, and told me horror storied of people going blind by touching their eyes right after touching the blossoms. Safe to say, I never went near that tree again lol

water hemlock grows everywhere where i live, it's along a lot of ditches by freeways and some local small rivers. it looks a lot like queen anne's lace when it flowers so kids are just told that all those flowers are toxic to avoid confusing them. i forage for wild plants a lot and that was one of the first ones i had to learn to identify fast. even breaking the plant apart in your fingers causes red blistering and irritation, so i can't imagine what eating it would feel like... ew

As much as I enjoy the character in general, I wish the leaves had been more like the actual plant, and since Water Hemlock is native to North America and some of Europe and basically not at all in Greece, I agree with her sentiment that she wished she hadn't leaned into the Greek design.

When I saw the picture of water hemlock my heart stopped. I recognized the flower from my neighborhood and from my camp. I’ve picked them before a few times. Once I passed by them with my friend and she mentioned something about being told that they were poisonous and I hadn’t thought much about it until right now. The flowers may just be look a-likes and not actually water hemlock, but still. I feel like someone should probably look into the flowers in areas where CHILDREN play that look suspiciously similar to a highly toxic flower?

Fun thing. Here when its mushrom foraging season there are actual places with botanical experts you can go to to show your mushrooms. As such mushroom poisonings are really rare and only ocur if somone decided that they wont utelize this free service.
