I have been very angry about the murder of Ahmaud Arbery since I heard about it! Today I watched the first part of this preliminary hearing & am so sad my heart breaks! Ahmaud went for a run on a Sunday afternoon & then he realized he was going to be attacked! Three men, two guns & two trucks chased him because he stopped running for a minute! Maybe he was looking at the house with dreams of his home one day! Maybe he was doing whatever other people/children were doing when they entered the area! Whatever....it doesn't matter because 3 "good ole boys" decided it was the day they were going to murder him! And they did just that! They chased him with trucks til he had no where to go! He had already tried leaving the neighborhood by going back when Rodney hit him with his truck! He turned the other way where the McMickels had stopped in the road with pop in the back with his LE gun ready & Travis outside with his rifle ready! Where was he suppose to go? What was he to do? So he ran towards the passenger side of the McMichels truck but Travis was quicker! He stepped around & fired 3 shots at Ahmaud...quick as he could set that rifle....but then he should have been able to do that....after all he hadn't been running anywhere! He was driving his big truck so he killed the man! I know he feels no guilt & he probably never will but I'm praying that he, pop & Rodney know the fear Ahmaud felt every day when they are in their cells soon & that they are in those cells for the rest of their lives, til they are carried out! I've never been a fan of hunting but I now understand that hunters are much fairer than these "good ole boys"! It's about time this system changes! We can't afford to continue this kind of evil hatred! JESUS asked that we love each other as HE loved us! It's hundreds of years past time that we begin to do that!

The reason it’s called cold blooded is because that is when you plan to kill someone and you carry out your plan calmly and cooly. NOT when you plan to detain someone while you are on the phone with the police waiting for the cops to come and investigate. Heated decisions were made on both sides and, contrary to your statement, cooler heads did not prevail. Two separate parties went out in the street to detain a man they believed was on videos. The two parties admittedly did not even know each other.They had only met once. But they both felt the need to get in their vehicles and try to detain the man for police.. @Carson Coke actually, you're wrong.
@anniekash21224 жыл бұрын
Carson Coke, no actually, you are wrong. Generally, an intent without an act is not enough to convict anyone of a criminal act. None of us have actual knowledge about what Arbery's intent was on the day he was murdered, and unfortunately he is not in a position to tell us. As an attorney I've been around my share of criminals. Most of them do not make an effort to steal things in the middle of the day in a well populated neighborhood, and if they have an intent to steal, usually they have something to carry and conceal the items they seek to take. Numerous people were depicted on video at the property. Arbery was not the only one. We have laws in place for a reason, and contrary to popular trends, no one is above the law. If there was any suspicious that Arbery committed an unlawful act, the authorities should have been contacted IMMEDIATELY, not after one gets their guns and chases Arbery in trucks with guns blazing. How terrified he must have been! A citizens arrest can only occur if one witnesses one commit a felony. The only thing they saw was an African American male jogging. That's not illegal. Taz is correct, it's not what one believes, it's what one can prove. This tragedy is a clear example of that very thing. They hunted, terrorized, and killed Arbery based on a gut feeling that was horribly WRONG.

If you witness a crime being committed in your neighborhood, be certain that you do not do anything to attempt to apprehend the suspect. That is strictly a job for Law Enforcement and if they cannot get there in time then the criminal gets a holiday. Neighborhood watch associations should be disbanded and declared illegal across the country. Also remove all FBI wanted posters from the Post Office because it is almost impossible that the person who may be assisting in the apprehension of a suspect witnessed the original crime.

Judges lean toward permissiveness toward the defense just to avoid problems with appeals later on so that if there is a conviction, the case won't be overturned on appeal and the defendant granted a new trial on technicalities.

@@kathismith7441 If a judge has a lot of case convictions overturned on appeal it looks bad on him because it means he didn't rule correctly according to laws of evidence and case precedents. Also, no judge wants to spend all that time hearing and ruling on a case and then see the defendant get a new trial because of an error he or she made. Judges give the defense a wide latitude because the outcome is more likely to stand in the end. So far we don't have reason to believe this judge is doing anything but being cautious. There is enough evidence for these defendants to be bound over for trial. No question.

So that original video that is 30 sec. long is all that I saw. I think it is longer like 3 min. Well at the end of this video, the guy says, that Travis is out of his truck, holds up his shot gun, tell Arbery to stop and get on the ground. Then Arbery avoids him and runs around to the passenger side and then charges at Travis. So I just re-looked at that video and it is dark and blurry. I can't tell what Travis is doing. They must have cleaned up that video real good. Well, so if that's the case then there's your aggravated assault. Then Arbery acting unpredictable for a reason that nobody knows yet. It could be that he was scared, was self defending or just plain out crazy or maybe he did think that they would lie to the police and make him get into trouble. Either way, a death happened during kidnapping which is a special crime that deals out felony man slaughter. So for instance if a bank robber robs a bank and a hero takes out his gun to shoot the bank robber and a person jumps in the way on accident and gets killed, that murder is charged to the bank robber because of the crime he was doing and kidnapping is one of those special crimes that holds felony murder charge. So google aggravated assault and felony murder and you'll see the boat all three men are sitting in.

The Ropes of Renovation I think that it's absolutely relevant. How fortunate you are to be able to deduce that flag to a southern thing. That is not the case for many African Americans.
