Lawyers discourage this for a reason , but if he's a true narcissist which he is, he would think his testimony would sway the jury. Then he's shocked at the sentence. He's lucky that he didn't get the death penalty ,which we still have in Florida.

It seems that all of the family annihilators who survive try that. Chris Watts did the same thing. It's disgusting. And the murderer's family almost always continues to believe that the dead spouse was to blame, regardless of the evidence disproving it.

I noticed from the first day of the trial something odd about the female lawyer sitting to his right. Even when he spoke to her, she wasn't making eye contact. What a bizarre interaction... but, then again, I guess defending a man that murders his family (including the dog) would elicit that kind of behaviour.

For anyone interested more about the background of this case, try searching on YT for "Looking for the Todt family", this series of ten episodes podcast gave us tons of more background and info that the prosecution didn't touch on. For example, I found out about how his father perhaps played an important role on how he became like this. The funniest part was Antony actually called them from jail sounding very upbeat that he'll get out in a few months....then he'll go on to that podcast for a full interview. Whoops, that didn't work out!
