This was a great help! I did not realize that you still sleep on a diagonal with a bridge hammock. Thank you!

Great review. I have a Lawson which I bought years ago. I sewed a sleeve onto the bottom so I can slide a pad in. It has worked out great. I do agree that having sag makes it much more comfortable. I’ve seen so many people hang it tight which does make it tipsy. I don’t care for the tarp. I use another tarp with a ridge line.

Great insight and tip! Adding that sleeve seems pretty easy, but did you need to add some baffling at all?

No I just used some heavier material. I slide a oversized pad in and it does the job. I only use this hammock for car or ATV camping. It’s too heavy for backpacking.

Dude, you started up the channel again? I love this! Amok Draumr next, i have 2, the best hammoks in my opinion 😄 (not a lightweight setup tho).

I've used that hammock since the mid 90s before Lawson took over from Newells. You need to use a Truckers Hitch knot to tighten one end of your hammock. I've stayed dry in 40mph driving rain on Big Pine Key on an almost identical older Lawson version. I can see where your version has been upgraded. Tighten your ropes as I suggested and it'll remove a lot of sag so that the rain fly will mate with the hammocks velcro tabs.

Another thing worth mentioning is that upside down, you're sleeping on a waterproof fabric which yields a sweaty back. Since it's already heavy, it would be nice to add a pad sleeve made of a more breathable material. However, a 2QZQ underquilt protector for pad will do.

I used the inner corner loops to keep my sleeping bag from bunching up to the middle when I got out and then have to reorient every time I got in.

Thanks for posting. Would it be possible to bring a 50 lb dog in the Hammock with you. Just curious. I am not sure how to handle my dog on a Hammock trip. When tent camping he is in the tent with me.
@theultimatehang Жыл бұрын
Yes of course, but just like having a human hammock partner, you're both going to be "intimately" associated. There's not really two places to hang out, even if the floor plan is big, you'll be sagging together.

Will it fit on a Mini Cooper S?

In the ground mode, can you not pull the end rods to the outside so that the bug screen is taunt?
@theultimatehang Жыл бұрын
i got it as tight as it would go. Ground mode you just lose a lot of space.

How come every video does not show how to make the zipper work properly. This is unacceptable not to address this vary important issue. Is there a way to modify this redesign this bring it to Seamstress and have it done properly or is there a certain trick learning curve that you have to learn how to zip this up that is the bug mesh.

Yes the zippers are a bitch.

Haha! Actually, it's not too expensive considering the kit, but yeah. All that.

Mine comes in super handy on paddle trips where hanging options are hit or miss, but you need the bug protection.
