Just got this for having a great midterm senior year report card. The first day I got it, I slept in our woods overnight in 18˚ weather. You know what the crazy part is? I did it a second time the night after. XD That night, it was 7˚. No underquilt, mind you. I had a 0˚ sleeping bag and three fleece blankets, while also having long underwear, pajamas, sweat pants and a fleece jacket on. The first night wasn't very pleasant, but nothing unbearable. The second night was quite comfortable, actually, even though I was using rope to hold up the hammock since I didn't have the suspension straps, causing me to very slightly touch the cold snow covered ground by 6:00 AM. Overall, it was a very fun experience! I look forward to using it more, ESPECIALLY in warmer weather than what I've already done! XD

Glad you liked it man, so much better than being on the ground. I kind of split ways on the cold butt thing, I have done some winter backpacking with temps around 15-20f not much & last night below 0 & honestly I don't have an issue with it & don't use a sleeping pad anymore in the hammock. But mind you my hammock is rated for 30f comfort & I was using a -10f marmot bag & had a down suit which I only wore the pants & was too hot & had to vent heat. I did get a little of the CBS at 0f but not enough to get a pad. So long story short I feel like being on the cold ground isn't necessarily warmer & being on the ground my hole body felt the cold not just maybe my sides or butt. I feel like the CBS thing has been blown way out of proportion.

I just returned from looking at the purchase link, I'm very impressed. I own a Blackbird XL. When I go to buy a second Hammock, it will absolutely be this one. Thanks again for such an excellent job in the review. I never would have considered this purchase without it. Blessing Pal, ... Mike.

I always stake out the four corners to make it more stable. I also sewed in a sleeve on the bottom so I could slide a pad in . Good review. Happy hanging !

I really have to thank you. I looked at it, but could not afford it right now with the underquilt. But I signed up for email on the web site. Got a 30% off coupon for Fathers Day. Which made it affordable & a great Fathers day gift. Thanks so much again.

Good review. Having experienced many bad trips into the backcountry, I have learned something each time how to improve my adventures by learning what "not to do". Light wieght, ease of set up and comfort are paramount. Keeping things dry is hard when it wont stop raining for days. Does the rainfly do a good job?

I ended up selling it, just couldn't get the right lay in it. I'd now choose the Hennessey line.

The Velcro latches around in the inside were for the sleeping pad they were going to manufacture with it but turned out they didn't. But kept the latches for some reason :) So I was told.

I'm 6'2" and I sleep in mine just fine. I can side sleep when it's staked out, and if you don't have trees you can stake out as a bivy tent instead of a hammock and stay out of the elements

I do leather work & used to make leather bracers & gauntlets. I was a living an outlaw biker lifestyle at the time & could get away with anything. Point I want to make tho is you can make them any way you want with minimal investment in tools. Go to any larger hobby store or try Tandy leather on Amazon. Their website has tutorials too.

Do you think this could hold 2 people if they equal 290 in weight? I saw that the maximum weight is 275 if i remember
@WillWildsOutdoorAdventures
@WillWildsOutdoorAdventures 6 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't ever go over the weight limits for safety reasons, I also think it might be quite a bit tipsy with two people in there.
