It's seemingly all over for Daniel Ricciardo with Red Bull...not through lack of trying, but just a trend going against him...and Checo being right all along.

Is this the end for Daniel Ricciardo in Formula 1? With Red Bull seemingly shutting the door on his return to the senior team, and the rise of young talents like Liam Lawson, Ricciardo's future in F1 is looking uncertain. Despite his best efforts and outpacing Yuki Tsunoda in recent races, the car’s poor performance and team strategies are hindering any real progress. Meanwhile, Red Bull’s admission that Sergio Perez struggled with a flawed car setup has reshaped the narrative, absolving him of much of the blame for recent underperformance. Has Red Bull’s decision-making been too focused on keeping Max Verstappen winning, potentially costing them valuable points?
In this video, we break down the latest revelations from Red Bull, how they mishandled Perez's car setup, and what it means for Ricciardo’s place in the sport. With the rise of rookies like Liam Lawson and the growing importance of fresh talent in F1, is it time for Ricciardo to move on from Formula 1? Tune in to get all the details on what could be Ricciardo's final chapter and how Red Bull’s decisions may be shaping the future of the team. Don’t forget to subscribe for more insider F1 updates!

Danny Ric in the F1 Commentary box with Ruth Bascombe, and Sam Collins popping in for tech tidbits is my ideal commentator lineup. DO IT F1!! The current commentators are annoying and whiney. The only time I enjoy their presence is when Ruth Bascombe corrects their TERRIBLE takes and "uhm actually's" them. I like them, but not as commentators. They can replace the entire "on the ground" crew IMO. I literally don't know the names of any of the commentators that talk at the start of a stream. I skip it or grab a snack. The toxicity at red bull actually feels worse than Ferrari's clown era. If it continues I will have to find a new team to support. They used to be fun, steal a win here and there during the Mercedes era (I started watching during the first year of this period) and that was great.

What baffles me is that Max always had something to complain about the car, but RedBull would spend all three sessions to find an operating window that only Max could deal with. And now here we are. I have been screaming this about Checo for nearly a year now. Whenever we get a race where driver performance matters more than car performance Checo shoots up the rankings, he gains like 5 places on his usual performance if the track gets wet, has for the past two seasons. Which to me screams "the car is a shitbox, the driver is fine" and led me to believe Max was actually too good and hiding real issues with RB's entire design. RB finally got to the point where Max can't compensate for the car being pushed faster but more unstable and they're going to suffer HARD for it.

Any rational reasoning would not arrive at dropping Daniel. It was clear that even Max would not make miracle with a messed up car. It was clear that Checo had not been competitive because the car is flawed. So why would anyone expect Daniel to make miracle in the worst car on the grid? I don't see Yuki's existing contract absolutely guarantees his stay given RedBull's history, while Liam had never displayed any superiority in talent over Yuki in his races, contrasted with Daniel's reliability in converting opportunities into real championship points. It's even more questionable in Liam's ability of giving feedback if he had been the simulator driver behind the development of "downgrades" of the VCARB car. The major reason of RB losing its constructor championship this season had been Helmut's constant BSes on Checo. Why can't he just disappear from the sport.

“It was clear that Checo had not been competitive because the car is flawed.” But last year it was still the most dominant car in F1 history and he couldn’t be competitive in it. Red Bull would more likely be much better off putting Daniel in that seat because Daniel and Max have similar driving styles and like the same type of car. And that’s why both of them also struggle with understeer - whereas Perez has a driving style that works well with understeer, which is why whenever Red Bull has had understeer he can compete with Max.

As a general rule it really ticks me off when older drivers are expected to bugger off simply to make way for 'young blood' - awful! (Hey! F1 teams... how about allowing a few more teams in to your short-sighted selfish club so there can be more drivers?) Having said that any driver's position should be about potential, and on that front I'm afraid I'd pick Liam over Dan any day of the week. What about Checo!?! I admit I'm a bit biased in his favor - I do wonder if his and Max's relative performance last time out (crashes aside) might reveal there was more to Checo's issues than meets the eye... ...no idiot conspiracy theory about hobbling drivers (eh, Lewis?) or other silly shenanigans no sane person would really take part in. I wonder if RB has been struggling with an increasingly undrivable car in exchange for outright pace for a long while that because of his prodigious talent Max has been coping with. Now it's gotten beyond even Max to drive they've had to take a sideways step to a car that is actually drivable by mere mortals in exchange for not keeping up with the general pace of development. So now Checo doesn't look like quite such a donkey. Maybe such a car is the reason they haven't been prepared to give Yuki or Dan a shot, or bring in another outside driver? It would at least be a reasonable explanation as to why Horner has been backing Checo, seemingly against all evidence - I'd rather he was doing so because he understood the extenuating circumstances rather than other options. Sorry, a much longer comment than I intended, and pretty much what you said oh wise one - I guess time will tell.

4:45 the thing is, he did adapt to things! at the start of the season, he was talking about how he basically adopted Max's set up and drove the car in Max's driving style! and it did work out, until Miami. when things started to go seriously wrong with the development that not even Max was comfortable with driving the rb20 anymore. so yeah, last year he was trying to makes things work his way, but this year he did things Max's way, and that's when the issues became more prominent. I'm just saying that he did what was asked of him, kept his head down, and now red bull are at risk of even losing the driver's championship. I'm not having any sympathy for Christian or the team that ignored the problems and had time of fixing things before they got to the point they're at right now

The US fans really aren't gonna appreciate how quickly we took to Colapinto, me thinks. There's plenty of channels that think we're anti-US drivers in the first place. I've suggested that they send someone who is a racing driver with a personality and not a walking sponsor spokesman but it does seem to be indoctrinated in to the majority of them. Andretti did well with fans, imo, because he had some talent and wasn't simping for his oil/tyre/wheel/water bottle supplier at every opportunity but gave relatable interviews and let us know he had a personality. We don't know these people, they kinda need to show us the heart and person they are, not stand there pointing to every name on their racing suit. Here's a video I would like to see at some point: what would the Andretti-Cadillac driver lineup look like? Now it should be noted that Michael Andretti has stated he would like, "at least one American with F1 experience." As it stands there are a few possibilities, such as Aston-Martin F2 driver Jak Crawford or maybe a revitalized Logan Sargeant. Colton Herta could also be considered as he is only a single point away from the super license (I will acknowledge that there are a few other things he needs to do in order to fully earn the super license, but he has shown he is capable).

There are mid drivers that should not be on the grid.
@valerierodger
@valerierodger 11 сағат бұрын
Those drivers have not made teams shy to signing a rookie Latifi, Mazepin, and Zhou were pay drivers. Zhou has actually performed better than expected and would make a solid midfield driver as would Schumacher. Sargent was brought up before he was ready, but he’s the closest of that list that might make teams wary of signing a rookie. Meanwhile, you seem to be completely forgetting about Piastri. By the end of last year, any team would happily signed either Norris or Piastri in a heartbeat. They don’t need Colapinto or Bearman to change their minds. There’s a lot more to bringing in a rookie than just being willing to take a chance on a rookie - after all, they can be evaluated through testing, which we see a lot of - the most promising drivers tend to be affiliated with F1 teams already, and have the accompanying contractual obligations. And there are sponsorship considerations. McLaren was willing to spend millions of dollars buying out Ricciardo in order to snag Piastri from Alpine, but you don’t often see a talent like that, sitting on the sidelines and suddenly becoming a free agent, and not many teams would have the sort of risk versus reward calculation and financial ability to make the move that McLaren did. When you are a midfield team trying to work your way up the grid, you need more than just a fast driver, you need the experience and ability to help the engineers develop the car. And because you don’t have the budget of the big teams, you’re also going to look at the sponsorships and marketability of the driver you have versus an F2 driver who is relatively unknown to the public. (Make absolutely no mistake, regardless of what you think of Checo’s talent, he wouldn’t have made it into F1 without his sponsors, he wouldn’t have been able to stay in F1 as long as he has without his sponsors, and he wouldn’t be in that Red Bull seat if it weren’t for both his sponsors and his marketability - Red Bull is, after all, an energy drink company, they sell more Checo merch than Max merch in NA, Checo helps their energy drink sales in NA, and when they get rid of him, they will absolutely take a hit in that market).

Does this make sense? not necesarily, but we are in a sport in which in 2021 team principals were negotiating race penalties during the races on live TV. is not too far fetched that there are leveraging items between the teams and the FiA to let the teams negotiate to do whatever they want.

nope, Checo was right because he had a car that was a normal car, max had the RB with asymmetric braking, hence why he was winning so much and there was such a difference between the 2 drivers. and for those who say max wasnt using this, it cannot be a coincidence that as soon as this was banned, max forgot how to drive. just like how Checo never forgot how to drive, it was just a crap car. all these Checo haters man, not only that but wanting to put DR instead on the RB, hes not even doing well in the junior team.

Danny has a future in F1 on the Team side perhaps to become a principal one day. Retirement is likely and some position in the Red Bull administration.

Redbull will keep him as Team Ambassador thats for sure, and very likely he will jump as ambasador to other sports, not to practice them, but just to be there. Like Rob Warner, a former DH Racer, turned ambassador, then DH comentator, then overall cycling commentator. I would pay top dollar to listen Danny Ric and Rob Warner commentante on a race together, both have similar and compatible personalities.

they also need him, look at the round table they had with all former Redbull drivers, all have dull and boring personlities, he comanded that interview, he carried the whole thing, he balances things out in terms of Legacy Redbull drivers personalities.

The statement does little to absolve Checo's performances. The change gave one driver a better car, perhaps the most dominant car in F1 history. Max was winning, so Red Bull was not doing anything wrong. You can't tell me that there aren't other drivers on the grid that could that performed close to Max in that car, Checo just wasn't such a driver. Max Verstappen is a human being, not a god. It's not unreasonable to expect your second driver to perform within the same universe as him. Checo was underperforming and it's a stretch to conclude anything else. It takes mental gymnastics to say that his driving bears no responsibility. Sure, should Red Bull have seen this situation coming, but in the moment they did the right thing. Why would you make a change that might slow the car for your best driver? People have impossible standards for Red Bull, or perhaps the whole grid, sometimes. If a team retains underperforming drivers, then they are stifling young drivers by not giving them a chance. If they remove them, then they are ruthless and cruel. People throw pity parties for Nyck de Vries, Logan Sargeant, and Mick Schumacher, while simultaneously complaining that their favourite rookies don't get a chance.

The problem with checo is his driving style is opposite to verstappen , where ricciardo is similar (the same issue mclaren had with Ric and Nor , they have opposing styles) . I think red bull have shot themselves in the foot, trying to develop two separate cars . This is the only reason I thought Ric should be in the lead rb team , so they can develop the car specifically to Verstappen and still have a reasonable paced 2nd driver ... It's interesting the narrative change at rb with the car looking to be developed more in favour of Perez now , this could mean Verstappen is already leaving and is just yet to be announced , which is still bad news for Ricciardo due to every other driver at red bull being more similar to Perez style 🫣 . In any case , there's other reasons rb could be off the boil , with the new regulations coming up , who ever wins the constructors this year will be hampered for said reg change!!! What do you think @LawVS?
