I hope Adam will be a witness for Jodi’s trial. He has done so much for Boy Scouts and changing laws. So much respect for him and he’s been through so much. Ruby, to me, has done this to herself. I think she has a lot of problems in her childhood that, when Jodi came along, she was sucked right in. Laughing at her six year old because she forget her lunch. Tying the kids up, not feeding them, having her son sleep on the floor for 6 months, no. Ruby needs to take responsibility just like Adam is doing. Thanks Peter

I listened to Adam & Jessi's case (Jodi's niece) and in my opinion Jodi is the core problem here. BUT Ruby should be punished to the fullest extent as well. As a mother, nothing or no one could convince me that abusive behavior is okay. Ruby is their MOTHER, and honestly Kevin should be held accountable as well. These kids will always carry severe trauma because of these freaks, and even worse, they think its their fault. Brainwashing at its finest, but not an excuse in my opinion!

No Ruby Franke is not a victim. She was abusing her kids long before she met Jodi. People who aren't open to the kind of stuff that was done to her children, would in no way be open to what happened. Nobody is going to be able to "brainwash" me into abusing my kids, because I am not open to it, period.

Ruby is some how slow. There is something about her that makes me think she is out of the house in her brain. She smiles all the time. With that said, she did inflicted a lot of pain an psychological punishment to her kids way before Jodi came along. With Jodi in the picture, Ruby escalated the punishments and methods. It is like Chad and Lori, they mixed and things got very bad quickly.

In the grand scheme of things, prosecutors will prioritize the biggest fish. Having the weaker offender take a plea bargain, will guarantee that both of them receive jail time. There’s always the chance that a jury will find one of them innocent. Jodie is the bigger risk to the community. As far as we know, Ruby wasn’t long-term starving her kids and duct taping them before. Multiple family members have come out and said the abuse never escalated that far. Jodie has a long history of this behavior towards adults and children. She has also evaded the law thus far. Once the heat gets going, she will say and do anything to make herself look like the victim. Since she isn’t the mother, a jury might be more forgiving towards her. Not taking the chance to guarantee she jodie behind bars, would be a huge mistake to the prosecution. It may seem “unfair” from a black and white standpoint, but it’s actually very smart from a legal standpoint. Anytime two perpetrators are involved, it’s in the prosecutions best interest to bargain a plea with one of the defendants. Otherwise, they could each throw each other under the bus in front of two separate juries, and essentially got off without justice.

I completely disagree with that statement. The church did promote and support Jodi. Steed's Bishop referred him to her. I grew up in the church and have lived in Utah most of my life. I can attest to the fact that members do put a lot of weight into what their church leaders advise. Members can be really gullible and trusting, believing that these leaders are guided by God--and that they are privy to inspiration about our personal affairs. It sounds weird to a nonmember, but yes they believe that leaders are given promptings regarding those they lead. So yes,the church is involved by promoting her and allowing her to give them info about his sessions. They k ow that is illegal but they didn't care. The church will obviously downplay their connection to Jodi now, but I think they are also culpable morally.

I go back to Jodi niece’s interview. She indicated she was basically tortured by Jodi until she confessed something. Hopefully Ruby’s kids are getting the therapy they need which will help them feel safe and feel better about themselves. I can’t imagine how confusing all of this must be for the kiddos. And I can’t help also blaming their dad for not checking up on his kids and reportedly making virtually impossible for his children to get in touch with him. I wonder if Rudy’s sisters ever reached out to him.

I think you're right, but it's clear that Ruby was well on the path of serial child abuser before Jodi came into the picture. There is no doubt Jodi made it worse, but I don't think it should let Ruby off the hook. As a mother, I was HORRIFIED to see some of the videos she was posting from years ago. I still say that she was protected by the Mormon church whose influence is in the courts, law enforcement, and undoubtedly CPS in Utah and other states. We should be worried about children in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and other states with big LDS populations.

But NOT to get Ruby off the hook. They are both equally culpable for separate reasons. It was a symbiotic relationship where they validated each other's cruelty and sadism and amped it up. Peter! Loved this video. Is that a new shirt? I call it “lilac!“ I really appreciate your coverage of this because so far, Adam has done a bunch of interviews, but none of the lawtubers have really taken a look at what he had to say the way you have. I had the same exact thought, wondering if they can call him as a witness for Ruby Franke and potentially even Kevin if need be. I think his testimony also speaks to a much bigger problem involving the covering up of abuse and corruption within the church. The mechanisms in place have kept people silent for so long, and until people like Adam continue to speak out, and their stories are given the credibility they deserve from people like you, nothing will ever change. There’s no one better in the law community or anywhere else to shed light on these issues. Thank you. ❤️🎻🐿️ P.S. Apparently, England has recently added a law that allows for “coercive control“ to be charged criminally. From what I understand, it’s designed exactly for situations like this. We have to remember that Ruby and Kevin were involved with Jody in Connections for the past three years- this includes some of the most concerning things brought up on 8 passengers. I think Rubys defense could bring up the point that taking away her son’s bed, refusing to bring her daughter lunch, sending her teenage son to “wilderness therapy camp”, 12:12 12:15 taking away all the kids extra curricular activities and removing them from school- most of the worst things we viewed were encouraged and suggested by Jody Hildabrandt who the family trusted to counsel their family. Ruby didn’t always make the best parenting decisions but the past three years you can see things escalating. I think Ruby did believe Jody was the expert who was helping her family and trusted her advice. Jody was scarily manipulative and evil and she enjoys destroying families. Definitely think things wouldn’t have escalated to this level of abuse without Jody’s influence on Ruby. She should still be held accountable for her actions because she is their mother. But I think the defense has a strong argument that Ruby was manipulated and brainwashed by an evil person- Adam Steed and Jesse (the niece of Jody) both could testify to that possibility.

If you haven’t already listened to Jessi (Jodi’s niece) interview on @Mormon Stories, while Jessi was being abused by Jodi she did invoicing for her aunt and said most of her clients’ bills were being paid by the Mormon Church. It would be interesting to know if the Church was paying for Ruby’s “counseling.”

Thank you for this video. I watched the long form interview with Adam Steel on Mormon Story podcast before it was taken down. It was hard to listen too. Your summary today ,from a,legal view point, that Adam is a,strong witness in building a case againt Jodi, is a positive one.

After listening to Adam's interviews I can't see that they could only move forward with him as a Witness. He has proof of the insane things they did. He has been through so much, and as a former abused child I understand how difficult this is for him, He has nothing personally to gain from this but us willing to tell the truth of what they were doing. I'm sure it will help Ruby but, it must be heard to make sure Jody is punished thoroughly.

Ruby and Kevin were abusive to their children long before Jodi came on the scene. I hope he doesn’t testify for her or Kevin. Testify for the kids if needed. But…his (and the podcast that did his interview) have had their First Amendment rights stripped and he’s not allowed to speak, and his story can’t be told. That should be the focus…who is forcing the removal of the interview and why? Jodi? Ruby? Kevin? LDS Church? If Jessi is silenced next, that should be telling…

I listened to Adams full interview. Jodi time and time again has ripped families apart. She accomplishes this by manipulating the wives. What happened with Adams ex wife parralels closely with Ruby. You can understand the why without excusing the actions that came from it. Ruby was coerced and manipulated. But she also chose to treat her children the way she did and those actions need consequences. But maybe Adam could be used to help the Jury understand why or how. Definitely damning testimony against Jodi.

As a viewer following the 8 passengers issues for years now, ruby definitely went from authoritarian strict parent to abusive delusional mother when Jodi entered the picture for sure. Jodi was definitely the catalyst in this situation and ruby was the perfect medium for Jodi’s brand of ideology. Spot on analysis for Adam’s video, 🙏

Between what Ruby Frankie grew up in with that weird religion, and sticking with it, and then getting mixed up with Jody, I can see how this culminated. I am not defending her. I’m just saying that she’s displaying learned behavior, and obviously narcissistic traits an probably a full blown narcissist. She puts me in mind of how my sister raised my niece with the exception that my sister didn’t have any religion involved, but my sister was so cruel. By the time I was 10 years old, I went and lived with and vacationed with every single relative that would have me because my mother was an absolute narcissist, and it was unbearable living with her. I was her scapegoat. I left home 14 and never returned. I just moved around with whoever would take me in. There is such a huge difference in the way I raised my kids and the way my sister raised her daughter, and I think it is because I spent next to no time with my mother because she was so vile. I believe my mother passed the narcissistic traits on to my little sister.

That about Jodi HIldebrandt working at a troubled teen wilderness camp... those places often use similar torture methods that she used on children inside her own home. Instead of mom and dad dropping their kids off there, they use the old Stasi approach: bust into the house at 3am, drag the kid out of bed and disappear them. And once there, they suffer horrific abuse. The infuriating part is these camps get away with it. I guess she figured she was untouchable, could do anything she wanted -- thank God that's no longer the case!

Every decent mother in America will want to know how this case will bring justice and healing to the children. AND what will be done about the church's role is. Will the church be held accountable for their role. Considering hildebrandt's high fees,, I can't help but wonder if the church wasn't get a finders fee. Had she already established a pyramid?

@Peter Tragos why would Mormon Stories Podcast be ordered to take down Adam Steed’s interview?? There is a very similar interview with Adam in a 2-part series on Hidden True Crime and it’s still up. Why and who is ordering MSP’s interview be removed?? Also, there is a telling live 9 ish minute video on Mormon Stories Podcast. There is a big news organization that John (from MSP) is helping to gather. He’s asking for specific information. Why??

Defense can try, but jury members who are also parents (so most of them), arent going to buy it. It's just not going to happen. It's the same with cases in which a couple abuses their children (Turpins) but the wife was also abused. Even though the wife was abused and feared her husband, they were found guilty and received the same sentence. There are some things that people aren't going to excuse, and sadistically torturing your children is one of them.
