Really looking good. The landscaping is very realistic through the countryside. Your intro clip was so real looking that I had to go back and watch it again to detect that it was in fact a model layout. The lighting was perfect as is the scenery. Very nice update and lots of neat things going on for sure. Thanks for sharing.

I am really impressed with the salt weathering technique. Looking forward to the next update on the scrap yard. In the video, it doesn't seem like the static grass is overdone. It looks fine to me. In your opening scene, I was not sure if it was real or a model. Not unitl I saw the same combination of wagons in another shot was I sure it was your model. Did you intentionally flat a wheel on one of your wagons? If so, it adds to the realism. Rob
@EverardJunction11 жыл бұрын
Some of the wagons have had lots of use on he layout and seems to be running a bit rough. Adds some good realism though so i'll leave them as is.

@TL80S90S11 жыл бұрын
A great video as always. There are just a couple of points i feel i must highlight about the scrap yard. 1; the private Sentinels would never venture on to the main line but only move from the scrap yard to the reception sidings/shunting frame. 2; there would be a loop involved at the end of the two long sidings so the BR loco could run round, depending on which direction it came from - You would probably have room as the scrap trains that run are not usually that long, five or six SSA wagons(like from Kingbury, Warks) . A line from the main that meets the yard lines and then running into the two long sidings would be more realistic. You are obviously a perfectionist and put a lot of hard work into things. Look forward to the next video.
@EverardJunction11 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info, I'm currently adding to the yard an area for BR to run round. I've also managed to just about squeeze in the required trackwork to allow the sentinels to remain within the yard.
@TL80S90S11 жыл бұрын
EverardJunction Sounds interesting - just another point of note, the fence you are erecting would not fence off the BR sidings from the main line but only the scrap yard from the BR sidings. commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:A_Busy_Scene_at_Crossley_Evans_Scrapyard,_Shipley_-_geograph.org.uk_-_1737072.jpg

Should a model railway always have a "loop", if I may ask? It's been a bit of a bone of contention between my dad and I over the railway I'm going to get done soon. I wanted it to be a horseshoe-shaped one-way line (well, two way with multiple tracks and passing points, a bit like the Isle of Wight railway but with more lines) and my dad wants to put an 'overpass' line which I think is too unrealistic.

If you have plans to DCC her, I recommend you look at the Hornby website for this loco. Because of the limited space available inside the model, a unique chip has been made for these Sentinel shunters. It can be purchased by contacting the Hornby Customer Care Department.
@EverardJunction11 жыл бұрын
The sentinel comes with a 6 pin dcc plug, so in theory any 6 pin decoder should do the job. I'll give the hornby chip a go first and see how the slow speed performance is.

Hello Sir, My name is Ben, I am a beginner (less than a year) making a Swiss layout based on the Rhaetian railway (RhB) in HOm scale with Bemo trains! I am hoping to do the whole network in proportion with the real thing to the letter! :) Basically it means that the length of the layout would be 0.62 miles long!! It is beyond realism but I still want to achieve that size!! Anyway, to come back on earth I have a question for you which is the following: which turnout motors have you been using and using, please?! The reason I ask is because so far I have been using the Bemo electromagnetic point motors (you either choose manual points or electro points) but unfortunately there aren't reliable. Or if they are reliable it's me who has failed to make them work. I admit that I have messed up a few turnout motors in the past. As a result whilst waiting to solve this problem I am switching my points manually everytime I want to switch them. I am also waiting for quite a lot of Woodland Scenics Landscape products as well! My layout progress is always on hold because I am waiting for the next things to arrive. It drives me mad but anyhoo! Personally I am annoyed to have spent all that money (a fair bit) on those points expecting them to work straight away without any problems... which they should!!! Can you please help me?? Hope to hear from you very very shortly Ben
@EverardJunction11 жыл бұрын
The motors I use are gaugemaster seep motors. So far they have been quite reliable in 3 years of operation, some had caused me trouble, but that turned out to be my fault and was easily fixed.
