I don't do ballet anymore, but I badly sprained my ankle a few weeks ago and these floor barre workouts are actually perfect for exercising and getting my ankle moving again. Thank you!
@garyweidenmoyer24967 жыл бұрын
Ahh, Alessia, you never disappoint! Keeping REAL ballet in your workouts is what distinguishes you from all of the "barre poseurs". Although we know that there can be overlap of training from pilates, yoga, yogilates, piyo (I was never sure of the difference between these two cocktails), there are plenty of folks out there teaching such classes (and perhaps you teach those, as well).But so far you are unique in sticking to the Classical vocabulary and keeping it undiluted. This floor barre will be a great warm-up for my regular ballet classes. Thank you, again, for another wonderful- and useful- workout!

Kathleen Heilman agreed. it makes it even better for people that do ballet too. I cringe watching some barre workouts.

Kathleen you are more than welcome, and thank you so very much for the beautiful comment ! I am a 54-year-old Korean woman who began to like the fitness through jazz dance. Unfortunately I had my foot and ankle broken during the dancing class 3 months ago. My left leg had been clad with the full leg castor for 10 weeks and now I am off the castor and trying to walk again. I found your channel by chance and followed some exercises, when my castor was removed. At first it was extremely hard and awkward for me to do them right because of my stiff and swollen left leg. For the first week I only could do a couple of floor workouts. And now I added some barre workouts, since I can stand on my feet now. My foot is still aching and the healing is very sluggish. But I can feel the progress, which keeps me working on. I like your way of explaining and presenting the poses. They are easy to follow yet physically challenging. Thank you for making these helpful lessons.

I'm so happy to hear you are recovering! Always take your time and if it hurts stop until you are ready to start again. Oh, thank you so much, Alessia! I'll definitely do them. I do Callanetics and the accent there is always on the lower back/pelvis curled sort of under towards the front and knees bent. I just don't like the constant bent knees part. And you don't seem to have any problem with your back, it's really straight, lengthy and beautifully flat! I guess that a lot of work stands behind that. Thank you for the advice again! Keep up the wonderful work. I really enjoy everything you post and I am so happy I found you here. Alessia, thank you for this great video! Your videos are helping me to reach the goal - I'm a contemporary dancer, but I'm in love with ballet and I want to dance it professionaly. So I can study more about my body's muscle work actually in ballet, what is wery important before I'll start doing full ballet barre. I've been dancing for a long time, I have nice flexibility, but I have an awful (very awful...) turnout. And I know, without turnout you can't dance ballet. So I'm really looking forward forthe video, where you will show how to improve turnout. Are you planing a video about it? :)

Hi Ivona ! Well done on working your ballet skills as much as possible! Your turnout will also improve the more you practice. Do you have any tips on spotting? I have a hard time doing doubles and more because it's hard to keep spotting.
@lazydancertips7 жыл бұрын
90% is fantastic!! yeeeeey!!! Spotting is a wild beast. just kidding! You will get used to it and keep your chin perfectly at 90 degrees, the moment you do weird movements, or even just small tilts, with your head, it throws the whole balance off. Listen to the rhythm of the music, it will tell you when and how to spot. Remember that different musics and tempos give different qualities to the turns. :) Ciao Alessia

I see this is an old video but I'll comment anyway:- when I was young one summer I did with a friend floor bar every day. My back pain was gone, and my movements became different. BUT it can also be dangerous, since once I hurt my lower back is sitting posture. But the professional dancer may not understand the risks since they trained their body since childhood. This excercise is the base for the " core, " now called, which is nonsense. The real core is floor bar.

I have a few problems with this video. First of all the channel name; this has made me avoid these videos several times, as they come off as sluggish and childish, and it frustrates me, as you cannot be lazy if you wish to succeed as a dancer. Secondly, it goes a bit fast for me, but that can of course just be me being slow. Also I think you should explain exactly what you are doing when you are doing it, because it is hard to follow along if you do not. Lastly I will say the class itself is good.

imho i find the name whimsical, and when you look at the thumbnail photos you can see alessia (sp?) is providing valuable, active instruction! i definitely need to work up to her speed too.
@lazydancertips7 жыл бұрын
Hello Leah, thank you for your message! 🙂 As you might have gathered the name of the channel is very sarcastic, of course there is nothing Lazy about ballet as it's a very hard discipline, but also "Lazy" is a way to say that you can do the exercises from the comfort of your home, which for some "lazy" people is very handy so they won't have to leave their home to workout. I always take the fun side of life, ballet is such a meticolous and strict discipline that sometimes scares people away, thinking they cannot enjoy it and dance from their heart even if they are amaturs. If you think about it, as dancers we "play" with costumes, characters, love stories, dramas, and comedy, we constantly pretend to be someone else, we litterally play dress ups, and I always say that if we don't take the funny side of what we do it all becomes a bit too serius for my taste. 🙂 And above all, we dance for ourselves, for our own good, for our own enjoyment. I know sometimes I don't explain or say many things during the exerscise, I only give you the key points(otherwise I forget what I'm doing 🙃 ) and I do prefer to show steps correctly, therfore young dancers have the correct version of the exercise and they can watch it over and over to learn properly. Every video is different, there are some advanced ones and beginners ones, all tailored to different levels for both young professionals, amatures and fitness people. This video in particular was requested by a young ballet student that wanted a floor barre therefore it is a bit quick pace for anyone that is just starting out. I really am doing my best to keep everyone happy and busy dancing, as this is the point of the channel. Dancing for the love of dancing :) If you have any requests I would be more than happy to specifically adress videos and tailor them to your needs, I'm always here to help out and answer any questions. I'm sure this video will become easier and easier the more you do it. It only takes time and patience! Love Alessia

I did this floor barre twice. The first time was fine, as I was discovering the exercises (that are totally okay) as well as Alessia and kept concentrated. The second time was too much, I just can't stand the way she talks, I think she sounds super ridiculous, she slows your rythm down and doesn't motivate you at all but is annoying. Bye bye Alessia !
@lazydancertips6 жыл бұрын
Hi Julien, unfortunately not every student is made for every teacher and viceversa. As you know around the net not everyone is a professional like you and sometimes the pace of exercises need to be slow and accessible to anyone, and especially guiding them through the exercises without them getting hurt. You know your body well and what you need, but many people here don't, they are new to this kind of work. Sorry to hear this wasn't right for you, but i'm sure in your career you'll find the right path and teachers that will guide you the way you want/need. I wish you all the best and good luck with your dance journey. Love Alessia
